  1. Could she be picking up on your feelings?

She's done this a few times in the last few months but it's more frequent and she's getting more upset. My daughter just called around. She didn't know Ingrid's unwell and she could see something wasn't right. Ingrid loves her. She only loves three people in the world.

  2. Ingrid is not doing awfully well. She's getting frightened by things like waking up and me not being in the room. She goes into a panic and is very distressed. I've just calmed her down from another episode of this. From what I've read it's nothing to do with the kidney disease.

  3. When Zoe had kidney failure the vet said the best diet was the K/D diet, did your vet not suggest that or is there a reason you don't want to feed it? When I asked about homemade diet alternatives, they said that nothing was quite as good, but I remember yes that chicken was better than red meat, something about being easier to digest or get the protein from?

She suggested I look into home made diets.

  4. My 13 1/2 year old Cavalier has been diagnosed with chronic kidney failure and I'm looking for advice please. The more I read the more confused I get! For instance the vet suggested chicken and white fish is better for her than red meat yet the homemade diets I've found include raw minced beef. And I'm looking for ideas for treats too.

    TIA :) :)

  5. I will be buying a purebred Boxer puppy next year, right now I am saving up the purchase price - we have budgeted for insurance, training, feeding etc. I'm sure I could get a puppy more cheaply, but I want a pup who's parents have been health tested for the diseases Boxers are prone to - heart conditions mostly. I also trust my breeder to help me choose the right puppy, given that I am a less-experienced dog person. I want a dog that can run with me, so she has already said two of her breeding bitches would be more suitable than the one from more European lines who is heavier and less leggy. I also want an excellent temperament, on the calmer side of Boxer exuberance, as I intend to train for Delta therapy work, and this particular breeder has experience in that area also.

I am also paying for a 36 month health guarantee, providing I follow the late/no de sexing contract and feed the recommended food. The breeder is explicit about offering lifetime support and is a very experienced breeder and shower of Boxers, which is very important in a breed where the consequences for getting it wrong are pretty severe. I would say the same goes for Bull Terriers.

A 36 month health guarantee? Is that through the breeder?

  6. I would DEFINITELY tell the breeder immediately! I would want to know of one of my pups had one, of he is from a registered breeder they might have had another in the past and offer help and advice. The breeders should/will be able to help you along the way. Make sure you speak to them before you book any surgery, they might require their own vet to go over and make a conclusion of the refund. And yes he is still a growing puppy and will need a good balanced diet, not just boiled chicken it wouldn't be good for him in the long run.

    Couldn't agree more!

    Please contact the breeder.

  7. I know some people say to feed raw and dry seperately but I've never had a problem with feeding together. At the moment my lot get a handful of dry (currently grain free cause Lacey does better on grain free) for breakfast and for tea my old girl Ingrid has a handful of dry plus a couple of small necks. The other adults have a wing or chicken carcass or necks. If it's a carcass that is the whole meal. If it's wings or necks they also get a raw egg or some BARF patty or some sardines or chicken hearts or liver added to it.
