Second Week Of Tafe Grooming Course

Recommended Posts

I had the second class of my dog grooming course at TAFE on Wednesday night. I was very impressed! The lady definitely knows what she's talking about when it comes to grooming... and was extremely happy to hear her warn us all against buying puppies from pet shops, she even advised us to always buy dogs from a breeder, make sure you inspect the parents, and never buy a pup under 12 weeks old.

Hooray for people who care about dogs!!

Its not about pleasing ilana its about what is normal in the world & ethical dog breeders including nearly all of us on here wouldnt wait till after 12 weeks unless there was a good reason why.

Maybe the person teaching you spays there pups prior to leaving so there 12 weeks but to make a blanket statement like that is not constructive for the instructor. That also means any shelters pups etc shouldnt be sold before that age .

Maybe they have a special breed that they hang on to them but it isnt the right advice for all.

Yes some of the toy breeds will be sold latter on due to there size

No need to get defensive - it was a question?

I wouldn't want to wait till a pup is 12 weeks - I can do more one on one socialisation in that special window of opportunity than a breeder can with multiple puppies.
