Constipated Dog

Recommended Posts

My Staffy has been constipated today, she can't pass a stool, keeps straining but I can see it.

It is Sunday night and I don't know if she will be okay till Vets open in the morning ,can anyone help with what I could do.

I gave her a Glyserine Suppository but it did not help.

do you have any plain laundry velvet soap??

Cut a piece off -- a bit longer than the Glycerin supp. wet it to soften it a bit.. dunk it in some olive oil, and try and insert it alongside the stool.... it can help lubricate- where glycerin is more an irritant..to get the muscles moving :D

Hope she's not in too much discomfort for the night

Paraffin oil by mouth--- ,otherwise anything you give her to eat will just have to try and get thru.... I feel it will make her more 'full' and uncomfortable. ...

Took her down to Vets, they are going to sedate her and give her a enema.

Hopefully that will fix the problem.

She is six and I have never had this problem with her, she had nothing unusual to eat, so I can't work out why she is so constipated.'

She had a raw chuck bone the day before, these have never be a problem before.

So fingers crossed the enema will do the job.
