mokhahouse Posted September 4, 2009 Share Posted September 4, 2009 (edited) Just got back from Mokha vet today, just a check up after his bowel blockage last week and my vet pointed out to me that Mokha has two molars on the top that have grown in reversed. It is the same tooth on each side that has the inside of the molar facing the outside and the outside facing in. She says that it can cause things to get stuck but it appears he has a good amount of space between the teeth so it should be ok. Weird they have never mentioned it to me before but I am wondering how common this is. He is of course a puppy shop bought dog so nothing surprises me.Yes I know better now. Joan of Arc Posted September 4, 2009 Share Posted September 4, 2009 I have never heard of that before but as for the allergies I suggest you remove wheat and all red meat and fish from his diet. Allergies are more common in dogs than we realise. If he is scratching heaps then try to remove these foods and when the scratching stops you can reintroduce fish and see what happens. mokhahouse Posted September 4, 2009 Author Share Posted September 4, 2009 (edited) Hi Mercedes, I have eliminated red meat and wheat, corn,basically all grain except rice. He does have sardines now, they are new and he seems to be ok with them. I have to be careful what products I use in the house and cant use any spot on flea products. Despite his shortcomings he is a beautiful dog but I will never buy a labrador again that I cant trace its genetics back (ie pure bred registered ethical breeder). I have learnt the hard way but he is my responsibility which is why we do what is needed. I hope this teeth thing isnt linked to any other strange health issues. However we never discriminate against any labrador because we are concerned for your happiness as a Labrador owner and his/her health and well being.
