Flies Biting Ears

As you can gather I have noticed the flies are biting the edges of my dogs (Staffords) ears.

At the moment I am puting Filta Bac on it as i figure it can be used to treat cuts and wounds and it also acts as a barrier.

Does anyone have any better suggestions or is their a fly repelent type cream for these situations.

Head down to your local saddlery or rural supplies and buy a tube of Septicide.

It's a wound treatment that contains fly repellent. It's fine to use on dogs.

I found that Troy Fly Repellent worked well, available at pet warehouses, some pet shops & larger chemists.

We have a huge problem every year with flies biting our dogs ears, we use musca-ban with excellent results. I get it from the local stock feed place.

It's a spray rather than a cream, which i find works better, i usually spray it on in the mornings to the ears, top of the head and toplines of our dogs.

It can be a little greasy on the coat but probably not as messy as a cream

Muscaban for us too. Works really well, though my dogs hate it.

Make up a mixture of Tea Tree Oil, Baby Oil and Dettol and rub over the ears, it works very well
