Cheapest/best Place To Buy A Crate

My lovely little 12 week old Lab pup took a liking to the zip on his soft crate so we need a new one as I can see him sleeping in the puppy pen for too long without finding out he can actually knock it over :D

So can anyone recommend a place (online or major shop) that would sell crates at a good price - think I'll get a wire one this time ;)

TIA

We're on a waiting list for a pup so I've been looking around for a crate as well - cheapest I've found are here:

http://shop.vebopet.com.au/store/medium-30...cage-crate.html

They seemed to have reasonable prices on matching dog beds for inside the crate as well.

Prices seem similar on Ebay here for a similar product

For new crates;

eBay (look for the seller named "puppypower"?), Vebo is pretty cheap too (stonecutter has given you the link above).

C-crates are in QLD and make awesome crates, though not the cheapest... http://www.ccrates.com.au/apcrate.html

For 2nd hand/near new have a look at the DOL for sale section on the main page http://www.dogzonline.com.au/classifieds/forsale.asp?cat=7 always new stuff popping up there.

Also check out your local trading post and eBay.

ETA, I agree 100% with what PF has said below. I have 2 metal crates - an AP C-Crate which is just fantastic (if you can afford one get one!) and a steel crate bought 2nd hand so don't know what brand it is but it's old, heavy, has a solid steel tray and is built like a brick.

Savic also make decent quality crates which are a little cheaper than a c-crate, though they dont have the steel trays (or option to powdercoat).

Cheapest and best aren't usually found together.

A good well made crate will outlast the dog. I'd spend a bit more on a crate that's not going to fall apart, have welds break or present a hazard to the dog when it does.

I'd recommend a CCrate every time. :D

I'm very happy with my Vebo crate, but I live close by and picked it up. Plastic tray rather than metal, but it's survived a couple of untrained Labs and quite a few littlies going in and out.

Tip - keep the cardboard box it comes in. Fits perfectly as a base if you need some insulation under the crate! Until some stupid little dog wees on it!
