Bitch With Hemophilia

Recommended Posts

Depending on the type of haemophillia, I know when I had a Von Willebrands affected dog who we thought may require potentially very bloody surgery it was recommended that he be given clotting factor while having surgery and for a short time afterwards. That was a long time ago so things may have changed

The Suprelorin is a good idea to discuss with the vet, if you can still get it in Aussie.

Is there a reason why we shouldn't be able to, Staranais?

Just that we can no longer get it here in NZ. :)

Von Willebrand's isn't usually classed as a haemophilia, although it is a coagulopathy - I wonder if the OP's dog actually has something like vW disease, which would be more common in a female dog than haemophilia is?

thanks for all the info guys I will pass it on, the lass who owns the dog, has just moved house this week and will be getting a second opinion from a new vet.

unfortunately I do not have any further details as to type of cloating issue or exact diagnosis or how they came to the diagnosis.

the superlorin sounds like the best way to go all round with a lot less risk to the bitch.
