Apart from a portrait lens, I only have the kit ones that came with my camera ( which are apparently not very good) I want to get a great Canon lens but it is about $1200 and can't really afford that much. Someone recommended the above lens ( Tamron BOO8) . They were happy with it and said it was about $400. Just wondering if anyone on here has any experience with this lens?

I don't have this lens, but I have another Tamron model which has the VC, and I have to say it works very well :)

This is a good thread to see samples and opinions from the lens you are interested in.

B&H have it for $629, and they are generally one of the cheaper places around :)
