Sparty
Puppies are in puppy preschool so 4 weeks before they are in puppy classes on sundays I might go to flyball after class this week (if you guys are there!!) it is so weird i have two opposite dogs Sparty i have to hype up and get excited, Kira is a nervous twitchy little bitch lol almost have to dose her with rescue remedy before trials!!! i have to totally change the way I handle each one in a major way. you have to set up a puppy run at flyball soon there are so many puppys starting at club lately!!! we could have a interclub tournament!!! Sayreovi
Haha yes i have entered Nova in the Berwick Obedience trials in Encouragement for both trials im really scared haha hope to see you there i might be bringing Darcy to get him used to the atmosphere so i will see you there!!! Haha Finn is Novas full brother (littermate) and it definately sounds like they have the enthusiastic attitude in common
Sparty
we are in both trials Kira is in Encouragement mum is considering handling her but i think i will still do one Graeme Eades is the judge i think he is really nice so dont be scared although if he is wearing his floppy hat im stuffed Kira hated it and jumped in the stands last time Where is Finn based?? we were talking to Sharon at the Ballarat trial who has Todd, a full brother to the puppies dad Fluke hey Darcy is like their 1/2 brother!!!! even closer i think as Lilly (their mum) is Jonte's daughter freaky! pups might not come down as it is then 5 dogs overnight at my dads who is not a big dog fan... if it was a single trial or just a day trip it would be cool, as it is Bodie might end up stay home with the puppies yet Jen
Sayreovi
Haha cool, dont worry about us we are no competition i dont think unless he changes his attitude at the moment  Im not sure about Finn i dont see him that much last time at the Expo time before that was the Royal so yeah You can still meet my two though haha
Sparty
Hey Rhi are you going to be moral support sunday if i come over to work on our flyball skills  if I work with sparty there we will know what to start on at home with the others Kira is a problem, she is not really interested in balls so if you have any ideas how to fix that it would be helpful She is not dog aggressive she just doesn't like them in her face when she cant escape (on lead) after agility she will happily run with the others without any issues
Guest cloverfdch
Yep we will be there, i declined going clubbing in Melbourne tonight so i could go to dog club in the morning, hows that for dedication . Elvis is the same as Kira and gets snappy when onlead, but remove the lead and he will want to play with everyone. I can be your instructor if you like tomorrow? I will bring my camera aswell and get some photos of the newbies. Is Kira food motivated?
ish
Hi guys, It sounds like you all have a lot of fun at flyball, can you tell me a bit more about it? Like, can GSDs do it? Where abouts do you have to go to do it and do you teach them how or just compete? What sort of equipment do you need (they are wearing a special harness??) What level of obedience do the dogs need to have? As you know, I'm moving to Ballarat and if its ok for GSDs to do flyball, I bet she'd give it a red hot go...she's a fit, crazy, ball mad dog
Guest cloverfdch
Any breed can do Flyball . We train at the Ballaarat Dog Obedience Club and have been doing Flyball for about 3 1/2 years now. Dogs under 12 months of age are not permitted to jump but can do motivation work and some socialising and ball work. The dog needs to have a pretty good recall, be good with other dogs and people. We host one competition a year at Ballarat, but there is the royal Melbourne, The Canberra Royal, and plenty of country Victoria comps hosted a year. We have even been to Adelaide, and want to go to Sydney next year. Here is the link for our dog club all of the info you will need is under the Flyball section and feel free to browse the site and see what else we do. BDOC - Ballarat  Alot of the Flyball dogs are crazy, but very lovable.
ish
Ok, thanks I'll check that out. I did puppy preschool with my first GSD Bayliss at Ballarat dog obedience, one of the ladies who took it had GSDs and just loved him! He was pretty loveable though Do you only do flyball training on Sunday mornings? (sorry if it tells me on the site, still looking) Thats when GSDclub is on too  Oh well, I can alternate. Chili is 18 months old, she knows good basic obedience but she's very social and I dunno how reliable her recall would be. We can give it a go and do some more training anyway. She's great with other dogs and people. Sounds like lots of fun, you might see a mad GSD there in a few weeks.
Guest cloverfdch
Once the dog sort of has the hang of Flyball they may be asked to Tuesday night training, but that will be stopping for winter soon, unless we find somewhere indoors to train. Chilli sounds like a fine candidate for Flyball . We train at 11.10am on Sundays.
Sparty
what sort of motivational training can Bodie do or should I just stick with Sparty??
Guest cloverfdch
Can't you tell i am bored quite often and am obsessed with DOLs . Bodie can come and do a little bit of ball work and also you can do some attention exercises, so keeping Bodie's attention on you and not the other dogs running. I hope it stops raining soon, i hate training in the rain .
ish
Oh, thats right Ballarat = rain/cold. I've only been away for 4 years and I've already forgotten about it. I don't think I've trained in the rain once up here. <sigh> Oh well, such is life. I'm a bit excited at the thought of trying fun stuff like flyball, agility and tracking. Can't do any of that stuff here, I've always wanted to get Chili to do lots of things because I think she's capable of it. Maybe not agility though, dunno that she's that coordinated! Looking at the website, I'd say she'd be a good class 2 / just into class 3 but she's only done show training for the last few months so I'll have to start practicing again once I've packed up and settled in. Guest cloverfdch
Ahh yes gotta love Ballarats weather, i think it has finally stopped raining though. There are lots of fun activities to try out at out dog club, i want to do tracking with my Border but i am not an early morning person . Chilli sounds as though she has lots of potential. Elvis and i are currently doing class 3 Obedience and are having a blast with it.
