Neapolitan Bonnie
Hi Members! I have a 17week old female Neapolitan Mastiff, currently 25kgs, and I am looking to reach out to any other Neo owners for some advice and/or general feedback on her diet. Given that she is a giant breed, I want to ensure that each and every meal for her (and treats) count towards her growing well, her overall health and most importantly...her happiness. I am currently feeding, as main meals, a mixture of: Blackhawk large breed puppy dry food. Leading Raw puppy mince (approx 220g individual pouches) Raw Eggs ( 2 per week) Greek (plain) yoghurt with Raspberries and Blueberries. MSM (1 tsp per day as a preventative measure) Frozen mixed veggies. For treats, to date I've only used: yoghurt drops (for training purposes) Plain pancakes (twice she has had these with no syrup or butter etc) Raw Brisket bone ( this went straight through her so no more was given) Plain vanilla ice cream (1 scoop) Things I've considered, but haven't yet tried do to conflicting information: Raw chicken feet Her daily diet looks as follows: Breakfast 220g Leading Raw mince. 2 cups of Blackhawk kibble. 1/2 cup frozen veg mixed in. 1tsp MSM mixed in. Lunch 1 Cup Blackhawk Kibble Greek yogurt blueberries and raspberries as a topper (twice a week) 1 Raw egg (twice a week) Dinner 220g Leading Raw mince. 2 cups of Blackhawk kibble. 1/2 cup frozen veg mixed in. No current treats given other than the yogurt drops when training. I was starting to giver her two mince pouches (440g) of a morning as she seems to finish her meals entirely All three puppy vet checks have been positive with positive comments towards her shape/figure and overall health. Feedback on current feeding and potential over feeding have been conflicting. Any suggestion, feedback (good or bad) will be most welcoming. Thanks, Wayne and Bonnie Note: no pics until I work out how to resize Edited February 28 by Neapolitan Bonnie added weight
Mairead
You should have received information from the breeder about diet and general care. Show this to your vet for a second opinion about diet. You could also ask other breeders of giant breeds by having a look in the Events section of this site for "conformation, Qld". The schedule will tell you where the show is being held. Just don't ask if they are assembling to go into the ring or otherwise look busy!
Rebanne
For sure ask your breeder about diet. Otherwise see if there are any breed clubs you can join.
