  1. Taco got kennell cough the day after we got home as he came from the pound. Took him to my vet and he was prescribed antibiotic tablets and I was told not to let him near other dogs for 2-3 weeks as it is very contagious. He was better within 5 days but still kept him at home for about 2 weeks and would walk him when I knew hardly any dogs would be out and wouldn't not let him near anyone elses dogs. Cough mixture hey.... learn an new thing evryday and I have a bottle at home. SWEET!!!!
  2. Good Luck sweetie and all the best for a speedy recovery!! Em, Taco & Buckley
  3. Awesome. I will have to try that on Buckley because he has not a flea on him but sratches like mad all the time. Poor little guy.
  4. Taco is a bit the same although he does stay still once his is in. I wonder why he hates it so much. He will cower and shiver. I try and make it as fun as possible for him and use warm water etc. He does however have the tendancy to jump out of the sink and run laps of the house covered in shampoo!!!! His and Buckley's fav part though is the towel drying at the end and then the zoomies start. As what has been said from other members just try and make it fun and happpy for her. Best of Luck. Em P.s. Bach flowers.... rescue remedy works like a charm
  5. hI! My 2 boys sleep in our bed everynight and It doesn't bother me unless Taco is hogging all the room!!! It's hard to believe how much room a min pin x chi can take up!!! LOL Oh and the snoring that he did yesturday mornig just cracked me up. They are clean dogs and are wormed and don't have fleas. We tried when we first got Taco to have him sleep in his own bed but he wouldn't. We tried other rooms etc and he ened up chewing the door frame and carpet and was just miserable. We didn't give in straight away but thought how much more of this can we take with the destructive side of things and agreed it was easier for all involved to have him sleep with us. Buckley is prefers to sleep on top of the dooner at the end of the bed but will come in for cuddles when he wants to and we have their beds on the floor at the end of ours "incase" they want to sleep there. I would prefer a dog in my bed anyday that a kid who wets the bed or a stinky person who snores!!!! I guess if you had allergies or asthma maybe it would be a problem but as you said she is clean and healthy so go for it! Em
  6. hI! I don't know how much traing our boys had before we got them but they are generally good dogs and respect the house and there toys. I have found with our two boys that they are both very trainable and obdient when they want to be. Sometimes you can call them and they will come straight away and other times selective hearing comes in. Buckley is for sure the more obdient dog as he is very focused on us whereas Taco I don't think had much training at all before we got him. He will pick things up though quickly but has to be the mood to do it. We have taught him to sit, lay down, roll over, shake etc but if he wanders off the front porch good luck trying to get him to come back to your first go! Buckley is very clever when there are balls or games involved and his recall is quite good in the sense you only need to call him once and he will stop what he is doing and come to you. Buckley has picked up Flyball very fast and is really good at it, Taco doesn't want to have a bar of it and prefers to kick all four feet arounf and whinge while we try and train Buckley. We tried to include Taco but he is just not in to it. Em
  7. Thanks everyone. I brought my mum a beautiful plant to remember Stan and am making a photo board. Em
  8. On friday night, our famalies 15 year old Lab Stan passed away. He was a beautiful boy who never hurt anyone or anything. He mothered our cats kittens, he followed us to school, he would do night checks of us all and then would go to bed. He loved his food and sitting on us. He will be dearly missed by all of us and his best friend "Steve". Please look after him in heaven. Stan your the Man and always will be.
  9. I understnad your concerns and what people have reccomended sound good. The other option could be one of those water bowls that you screw a 1.25l softdrink bottle into and it refils as the dog drinks. They are about $10. I would go with the clam pool!
  10. I don't believe that throwing some water on his face is a bad thing to do, in fact alot of other people who are inexprienced in training dogs probably would have either given up by now or done something alot more violent. I would say that he knew aswell you we not trying to hurt him by throwing the water at him as you didn't say he growled or anything and proabaly thought "oops, better focus". What type of dogs is he?
  11. I can get a little carried away in my favourite produce store of petshop. :D I found found the most economical way for me is to order advatange, heartworm etc through www.thevetshed.com.au every couple of months. With food and treats I buy that fortnighly and collars, leds etc I am right for at the moment but if i see one I really like or a good bargain I will pick it up. I love buying toys and shampoos... have more dog shampoos than human!!! Em
  12. The old SBV (silent but violent)!!! ;) We get that too at our place especially after bones, Barf and Tuna. They reek and there is no warning when they came out either!
  13. I have had Taco (min pin x chi) to the vet vet twice to have his injured dew claw cut back. He just seems to get them caught on things and then I will notice him limping and licking at it so off we go to the vet. I keep his nails trimed. I asked my vet would it be easier for Taco if we removed them but she said "2 times in a year is not enough to remove them". I guess because they have to go under GA there is a risk involved.
  14. HI! I love that pic at the bottom of your post My two are only small Taco...6kg and Buckley...8kg. They get BArf every second to third day so thats 1/3 patty for Taco and 2/3 for Buckley about $1.16 a patty and I-2 cups of Eukanuba everyday and thats about $1.78 a day. On the days they don't get barf they get a tin of Tuna is olive oil/springwater about $0.80 and about $1.50 on brisket bones So all up a week $12.46 Eukanuba $3.48 Barf $2.40 Tuna $1.50 Total $19.48 or $20. If the boys were any bigger It would be abit more. The dry food is the most expensive part but I have seen the good results from it! Em
  15. I scratched (oops!) around trying to find the right words for what Gracie does.... & you've got it spot on. It's like he is trying to start a dirt bike
