2 Of Our Pups Got Bitten By A Snake Today.

Perrin - it was not your fault, no more than Barks was mine. We all know that if you had found your boy you would have taken him straight to the vet. -
Fingers crossed your boy heals well

Probably a good thing for the poster if the pups died an agonising death without treatment if they do not return. I ave to agree with you Raz -
Socialisation & Neutralisation

K9: It isnt possible in the short term, would be like trying to teach an adult that blue is red for example. But you can teach self control. Can you explain how to teach that please? -

I agree with the sentiment from that poster - no issue but i reckon that is why the OP has not returned, especially if the pups did NOT pull through -

Raz i think they may have left the building after someone commented 'you make me sick...' or words to that affect. -

Socialisation & Neutralisation
Flaves replied to Steve K9Pro's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
How do you neutralise older dogs? To people and to other dogs? -
Oh MsJames - I am so sorry that Roggie has gone to the HUgs to you and yours.

They put him under a GA again? When Sams stitches came out they gave him a local only and stitched him up - but he was an easy dog. Shame that they had to put him under again - i would not be impressed either Hope he heals well now
-
Yukko . How is he going today?
-
That happened to Sam when he had lumps removed - i took him that same night If it is not oozing he may be ok but it is at risk of getting dirt in it and gtting infected.

So sorry for your loss Ruffles.

Great what a cutie!!! Off lead exercise is best for them at this age. 20 minutes a few times a day of running around is great Throw some training in too As for sleeping outside, i wouldnt and havent done it BUT in saying that some people prefer it. It is up to you what you do but you may find your pup settles better sleeping inside at night GOod luck with her, join us in the gsd thread, we would all love to see piccies. GSD thread

Daire slept in a crate in our room from teh night i bought him home he SCREAMED for hours the first night A little less the second A little less again on teh third The fourth he didnt cry at all except to go to the loo It can be the change from having mum and the other litter mates around I would have a crate in your room, toilet the pup before you go to bed, get up every couple of hours for a few nights to do the same then extend the time. I also ignored Daire when he was screaming, when i took him out to the loo, he got minimal words except his toileting ones, he got praised once he went then put back in his crate. THe more attention they get the more they will do it also as it has paid off - they scream they get attention. It is hard, but maybe explain to your neighbours you haev a new pup that is settling in and it may be noisy for a few nights. Good luck

Please Help! Chases Ppl Aggressively
Flaves replied to free's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I dont think it is My boy would not even think about doing anything like that In fact he goes up to people and sits on their feet for a belly rub I think it can be more prone in some dogs, but in this instance maybe there was an incident that the OP did not see that started this behaviour. I agree that getting a trainer or behaviourist is really important. Good luck -
Swimming For Conditioning
Flaves replied to kelpiechick's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I take Daire to our local dog pool 3 to 4 times a week for 30-45 minutes each time He has firmed up heaps If you go to clark rubber i think they have some of the heavy duty above ground pools for a reasonable price I just rinse Daire after his swim - i only wash him once a month and there is no noticable difference in his coat What a brilliant idea - if i had more room i would do it too -
So sorry for your loss.
