Its a catch 22 with early socialisation, damned if you do and damned if you dont. Daire my gsd went to puppy school form 8 weeks It was at a vet and all teh other pups were in the same boat It helped a lot with those sharp teeth biting. Have you spoken to your breeder? They also may be able to help with some ideas. Sounds you are on the right track, just need to get the family involved. Puppy school can be great for that, you, Sam and the kids can go if your wife doesnt want to and it will help the kids bond with Sam.

I agree Sezy and Rob your wife needs to step up to the plate aswell. If they act like they are scared and don't reprimand the pup for her biting it will only get worse. Go to a puppy play group at your local vets and have the family go with you and learn how to behave around dogs and how to train them too Good luck

Just another thought. Has she ever been reliably trained? Has she only started doing this or has she always done this since you got her? If it is the former, maybe get her checked by the vet for any urinary issues then start crating/leading her when she is inside and only giving her access to wee/poo proof areas. If it is the latter then maybe retrain her as she wasn't in the first place.

If the dog is inside it is in a crate or on a ead attached to you so you know where it is a all times and what it is doing. No way would my dog have more than one chance at that. Have you got a crate? Because that could help. Also keep the dog out of the bedrooms, upstairs etc. If you can use baby gates so the dog has a tiled/lino area that if she has an accident it is easily cleaned up. Although this sounds behavioural.

Gee, that sounds pretty reasonable newnewf. My Chi girl's desex was about $250 from memory. Perhaps there is a "search fee" for such littlies! Must be damn fiddly :D Unfortunately she developed a small hernia AFTER the surgery, where the mid-line incision was done Different vets all think it's just a "fatty" hernia, but doesn't seem quite right to me. Hunta got a lump afterwards as she was not as quiet as she needed to be. Could that be what it is? They vet took a sample adn it was just fluid. Within a week it had gone down. Not sure why she got it - she was kept very quiet and didn't lick her wound or pull her stiches  She was desexed 18 months ago and it hasn't "gone away" unfortunately. I keep an eye on it and have had 2 vet opinions saying not to worry... Oh. Not the same then. I thought maybe it was a recent desexing. Poor little thing.

Badly Broken Nail - Quick Exposed

Woohoo in your new gorgeous house already!!! Cannot wait for photos. Hope BEanie heals all by herself Not sure Gareth why the vet did it but he did. Maybe due to infection or how high up it tore? :D Bella had been bathing it but when she took Kayla to the vet he put her under to remove it. Maybe some vets do. -
You can get a Nature's Own Joint Food from the chemist which is very good. My chemist is getting it in for me. It comes in powder form about $40-450 for 500g container i think from memory ETA try and get one with chondroiton, msm and glucosamine

Poor BEanie. Bella's Kayla did that and had to have the nail removed. Maybe get her checked by a vet just in case. Just keep it as lean as possible and keep her from licking it till you check with the vet. Hugs to Beanie. to you Benny -

Rottie With Rare Disease Can Anyone Help
Flaves replied to dandydog's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
If it is aspergillus then the dog will need, if the dog has any chance, specific antibiotics along with other drugs similar to those used to supress AIDS. This is long term medication and it will take a fair while for the dog to get well. Aspergillus is a dreadful disease. Fingers crossed that the test comes back with something else other than a fungal infection http://www.walthamusa.com/articles/wf82cor.pdf http://www.aspergillus.org.uk/ http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cl...p;articleid=233 http://www.aspergillus.org.uk/indexhome.ht...anine.html~main -
Cut back her treats Give her 2 meals a day Leaving them down for 10 minutes and if she doesnt eat then she gets it fotr her next meal. Hunta went through a stage where she would not eat for a bout 5 days Tough love or she will keep you on your toes for the remainder ofher life.

Sorry to hear that. Some people have had great success with Ester C tablets helping to ease pain. That could help also. -
Artemis is a high quality food. Does she get raw meat mixed with it or just the dry? Maybe add a bit of hot water to create a gravy of sorts? This has worked with mine. How many meals a day is she getting? If she is getting two either cut them right down or go to one meal a day She could also be going through a stage. When Hunta went off her food, she got 10 minutes in which to eaet, then it was removed. Next meal time it was put down then removed after 10 minutes. 4 days later she was back to normal Good luck
