And make sure it is a chiro VET not just a muscle man. Learn from my experience and go sooner to the chiro rather than see someone else first -
Hip Dysplasia ~updated With New Pics~
Flaves replied to Ahona's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I would be speaking to your breeder first and foremost. Then take him to a massuer or chiro vet, Kate Haines in Morwell is great - have complete faith in her. Ask for her opinion and she will help guide you. If then you decided to do xrays do so. However the vets will push for it now before 12months as they can 2 two different operations - one that the can only do before 12months i was told by my vet. However they are still growing so the xrays could be wrong too Otherwise try Monash Vet - Either Mark Foley or Stuart someone. -
Anne, That is great to hear. HUgs to you both!!

Anne, After readin your last post i am very worried. i hope that Sophie is continuing to do well.

A good quality diet should have a complete balance of everything the pup needs to grow. Myabe try putting a bit of warm water in with his dry so it makes a gravy of sorts to temp him

Oh Trish! ROwdy run free at the bridge you darling boy. Trish i hope this gets sorted soon, how terrible for all concerned.

Dexter Has Sore Legs.. Update After Vet Visit
Flaves replied to Cosmolo's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Cosmolo could Dexters back be out through rough play? It may not be his knees or legs at all. Get it checked out but maybe see a chiro too? They may be able to help if it is back related and not a knee/hip problem like displaysia -
IT was suggested to me to put vicks vapor rub NEXT to the wound - about a cm away either side. THey dont like the smell so dont lick the area. I used it with Hunta and had no advers reactions on her skin or her licking the area.

I'm interested in this too. Flava did you really mean 15 - 120 minutes? That would be 2 hours, or is that a misprint? I'm guessing you meant 15 - 20? Yep i meant 15-20 minutes  Daire gets walked 3 or 4 times a week for about 20 minutes, he gets lots of offlead play aswell
-
I would think that that amount is too much for a little pup I would be aiming for 15-120 minutes a few times a week, some training on the other days and play time int he back yard or at the park

Oh Valkyrie - what a beautiful tribute to Link Link run free mate.

Oh gsdog2, i am so sorry. Tieke run free at the bridge and look out for Asher
-
Sorry. it has taken me up till now to be able to write it. And i still did it through tears I loved him like one of my own
-
I did this yesterday to make you smile a little through your tears. I will now add to it as you have now gone to the Bridge to be with the other Angels that watch over us. Remember this bella? or this? Asher, run free at the bridge mate. Be pain free and happy, watch over your mum and dad I now want to add to it: Asher, i was with your mum the first time she saw you. You were a little black slug, so beautiful and so cute. To watch you grow from a tiny little thing that fit so well in my hand to a gorgeous young dog was a joy and an honour. To see you every week or so in that first 8 weeks of your life was so special. to see your development from a little squeeky baby to a young pup who could walk, then run and bark. You were so cute. So cheeky. i recall one night when you were about 4 weeks old i think, that your mum and i went to visit you, Ish and the rest of your litter, you and Daire were in thelounge with us playing and you tried to eat Bellas sock! We had tears running down our faces at you. It was a sneak attack, then go away then come back and have another go. I actually think that that nioght that you chose who your mum was tobe. I recall cuddling you and you struggling against me, when Bella picked you up you snuggled in and licked her face. It was meant to be from the start. (there is a picture somewhereof that moment i believe - will have to look for it) When we went back to pic you up 2 weeks later you were so good in the car, Daire carried on so much that your dad pulled over so you mum could hop in the back with you so Daire would be quiet. It worked. Daire is still a sooky boy and he always adored you. Followed you around, tried to get your attention. Daire knows something is wrong, last night he cried most of the night, he couldn't get comfortable, kept whinging and whining. Daire will miss you as will Glenn, the girls and myself. You have a special place in my heart and always will Ashie Tomorrow you and Daire would have been 9mo old. I am sorry that you are not here to celebrate, know that i will give Daire an extra bone, kiss and cuddle for you. Ashie, i know that you know your mum and dad did all they could and more for you and that they gave you the greatest gift of them all last night. To be pain free and now and Angel to watch over us all. Now when i look at Daire, i see your spirit in him. You live on in Daire, your mum and your dad. Run free at the Ash, be at peace and watch over your family Love ya mate

They can be tested before 8 weeks and then at intervals during their lifetime. ETA: depending on the deal you can get, it's about $50-$80 a puppy. Thanks. Do most breeders - registered ones - test this prior to the pups going home?
-
Hey Warley, do breeders test pups for the eye thingy before they go to their new homes? Or is it something that has to be done when they are more mature?
-
I wonder if the bitch and dogs breeders know he is breeding them? Surely that would be a knife to their hearts if the dogs are papered as he says?

Happy Birthday cNr!! Hope you had a wonderful day

Help With Skin Condition In Rescued Bully Pup
Flaves replied to BomaBec's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
If I were you I wouldn't vaccinate an immune-compromised dog. Some vets wont it there is an issue. Mine wont vaccinate if there is an underlying issue. -
