  1. Thanks Tassie. The September Gazette was like a goldmine compared to the boring August one The trial on 29thOct has a cool special assistance ring set up where anyone can go in it and test out other rings. Im thinking it will be a good training session in the trial environment for the novice ring to gauge where we are at wihtout actually being in the ring formally.
  2. To enter CD do you have to include the dogs height on the form? Ive never done it for CCD and as far as I know there are no jumps in the CD ring either. Will I need to put it on the form? I just found a trial in the gazette on 29Oct11! Entries close on 7/10/11!! Im express posting my entry today. Ive got my trialling schedule all out planned now 29/10/11 & 5/11/11 CCD trials, Im going to enter 12/11/11 as CCD as well just in case and then the double on 18/19 Nov will be CD rings and there is 25/26 november night trials in Sydney which I may enter too. Not sure yet. But we will see how we go! Im loving the night time trials it means no more early mornings! I can leave mid afternoon and still get there on time. Very exciting to say good by to the 5am starts!
  3. Agree with everything RS said! We are 5 trials in and only have 2 passes in CCD! Its taken a lot more work on both the handlers side and the dogs side than I thought thats for sure! In the beginning our training sessions hardly even translated into our time in the ring. It took a lot of tweaking to get out heeling up to scratch and I was very proud of him on Sunday. In the pouring rain at the state titles we sill managed to score 22 for heeling. More than I though we would! Im entering upcoming trials in november but im scared!! We are only 1 pass away from our title and I have begun training for the novice ring but I dont want to rush us into the ring. My plan was to title last weekend spend the next few weeks getting our novice up to scratch and up to a ring level and then have a go on 4th November. Now that 4th Novemeber and 12th November I will enter as CCD just in case. And am planning a double on 18/19th as novice entries. I mean if we arent ready we wont go in but actually putting NOVICE on the form is freaking me out!!
  4. Baby steps! You dont get a dog who knows how to sit without any commands over night Your best bet is to find an obedience club somewhere that can show you how to get the basics down pat and go from there The stays, start at the very beginning. Sit, stay and then stand in front of his nose for a few seconds, then slowly get longer and longer and a little bit further away.
  5. Well no title this weekend! Pouring rain today and he move 4 feet in SFE! Not to worry, he heeled well and didnt miss a beat! Was very happy with his working this weekend!
  6. Thanks P! The judges were being tough because it is the states and just to get a near pass was awesome! Invert happy with how we are working.
  7. Well today we had a great run! Heeling was good, stand for exam was good but! On the recall when I left him he stood up to scratch and we bombed! I couldn't be mad at that lol so we copped that on the him, got some good comments from the judge and we are back in the ring tomorrow. Looking forward to another good run tomorrow a Complete run tomorrow lol
  8. Only second place..Wash your mouth out! I got second in our last trial and was over the moon!! Congrats on everyonee's brags! Fingers crossed we have another brag this weekend.
  9. Good luck Murve!! I did a bit of work this arvo with leila, she has a better dumbell hold than Ramses!! She has picked up the turns really quick. Drops and straight sits are a work in progress. Its so different training a dog who is still learning to training a dog who knows what you want and what your asking for. I put my hand out for 'touch' and Leila just stares, after a bit she ever so slightly puts or nose to my hand. I treat and praise. Do something else and 5 mins later do touch again and its like she has never done it before Even had a bit of tail wagging in training today. Maybe she is starting to feel more comfortable around me.
  10. Thanks Mason! Anyone else going to the trial at EP this weekend? Normally my sister goes with me but she will be at nan and pops and Im going alone Ive got my gazebo but Ive never put it up on my own before..Whinge whinge whinge
  11. Well I did a session with Leila tonight. She has potential but it will just take time She loves working for food and is learning 'touch'. Slowly slowly. First step is teaching her 'watch me' Ramses and I are ready as we will ever be for the state titles on the weekend. Looking forward to a title!
  12. I have to build a relationship with this dog first. We have history and it's not the best. I'm sure it won't take long and we will be right! I just have to be careful to make it look like I'm not taking over my partners dog lol
  13. I have a new training project! Its my partners full of issues GSD. He doesnt have the time and quite frankly the knowledge to train her properly and with the technqiues he uses its not working for this dog. I have offered to take her with Rams and I when we go to the park to do a bit of brain training and tire her out mentally. He can do the physical stuff! Combined with some K9 pro advice and calm supplement hopefully we might have a happier, less stressed and less DA shepherd soon! This dog is not my idea of fun, but I cant stand there and do nothing why my partners busts his butt working and the dog just creates problem after problem. Im actually excited about putting my trainings skills to the test
  14. Thatll be me if we pass on Saturday! Be nervous for no reason on the Sunday Im not nervous at all for this weekend, whatever happens, happens and I know that we have put in the work, done the training and I take the best dog home on the day! We are No.17 for saturday and No.5 on Sunday. I like to be in earlier but we will see how we go as No.17! Hoping its not a hot weekend.
  15. Nerves are a funny thing Murve! This week is (hopefully) our last week training for CCD! So Im concentrating on that before taking a few weeks to train for the CD ring and we will be ready whenever we are ready! We took a week off last week so looking forward to getting back into training this arvo. Thanks TO! That makes sense. Its essentially a new excersize. Thats how I will approach it. You guys are a helpful bunch! :D
  16. Im finding when I take the lead off and do some heal work Rams drops back behind me a bit. He also goes a bit wide in the right turns like he knows he is off lead and its relaxed. How do I teach him that off lead still means work! If I talk to him lots and remind him where he is meant to be we do ok but I know that as soon as I stop talking to him as much he loses it!
  17. Will do! Its not notmal for me to lose things like that. They usually get filed straight away but with the move I lost my mind
  18. Ive misplaced the letter I got confirming Ramses was now on the associate register and his number. Do I just ring Dogsnsw to get another copy? I honestly dont remeber getting it in the mail. It came around the time I moved house so Im assuming its been packed somewhere but where I have no idea!
  19. Im hoping to get into the CD ring in November for a few local trials thats of course assuming we get our third pass at the states..But who knows what will happen on that day . But that will require alot of work on both our parts, especially in the ring type training when I cant talk to him to keep him with me!
  20. Got our 2nd CCD pass this weekend! Also came 2nd in the ring with a score of 94/100 with the winning dog getting 95/100...So close!
  21. There is video. After we got in trouble from the judge for not asking permission
  22. We passed!! 94/100 our best score yet. So now we just need one more pass. Bring on the state titles!
  23. Do you have to do any kind of preparation with him or just let him be a puppy until he gets returned?
