  1. Diva slept on the bed from her first night at home until about 20 weeks. We were having a really cold winter (-6 nights) and the Beagles live outside so we decided to let her snuggle with us and we LOVED it, so nice to have a little fat hot water bottle on your neck all night! She never soiled the bed either and used to wake me up by yawning loudly at about 5 am to go out for a pee, so cute! Once the weather warmed up she went on with the other Beagles and snuggled with them (easy transition for us because of the other dogs) she never complained. We actaually think it helped her bond to us as she is a super Show dog and was from day one, always very confident and a very happy puppy! This pic was taken around the time that she 'moved out' of the house!
  2. We find rubber mits the best on the show Beagles, they are cheap and effective!
  3. That is a very fancy menu for a Beagle! 5 chicken necks is a lot! :D ours get half a cup of dry in the morning and half a cup at night with a few spoons of our home made mince / veggie / mineral mix! and they are usually borderline chubby! Maverick Diva
  4. Ive used it on horses but for general dermatitis in Horses, cats and dogs I find Papaw cream the best! Its in a red container from your chemist. Brilliant stuff.
  5. Thanks! Hubby took her out for a pee and it popped off on its own while she was walking. Lovely and clean underneath all praise to VSS Brisbane!!
  6. We have found the Advance tin food really handy for getting fussy or non eaters to eat, they just love it! We find we add it to the biscuits and they wolf it down, we slowly reduce it over a couple of weeks and they just keep eating. Its fantastic
  7. Maverick was an excessive panter and always really flat and tired on a hot day. You could tell he was struggling to recover after excercise. We took him to the Chiropractor and he adjused him through the neck and back. turns out he had something a bit out that was restricting his lung capacity. He is like a different dog now, so much energy and no more panting!
  8. Great thanks for your reply!!
  9. Has anybody had good results using eye envy for tear stains? I wa thinking of getting some to try.
  10. Aw thanks! Mav is cute but little Diva is definately the cutest...
  11. Maverick is VERY allergic to Bees! Not in the normal way, Ive never seen him swell up. His body just starts to shut down It has happened twice now, he struggles to breathe, then cant stand and gets these awful convulsions. 2 emergency trips to the vet driving like a wild thing, we now have an emergency needle in the fridge!! Poor little Mav, he has bug phobia too now!
  12. Some Beagles do have a nasty Kykuyu allergy.... We have found that feeding kelp and treating the irritated area with Paw Paw cream (from your chemist) does wonders. you can give them a cortisone injection which will help their immune system to fight the rash for most of the summer but I always leave this as a last resort as cortisone can cause other problems.

  14. I did state in my original post that I didn't have all the information, and wanted to know. I was simply asking to be sure, for the puppy's sake. sorry, didnt mean to sound snappy! I live in Brisbane, summer is pretty hot and it drives me nuts seeing all the clipped coated dogs around baking in the sun without their 'natural curtains!'
  15. Iwould never clip for heat, its a total misconception. Long coats insulate from temperature extremes. How do you think Afghans survive the heat in their native country!!
  16. Yep Permoxin is a life saver! I have a horse who gets QLD itch (Midgee allergy) when he gets bitten he gets big weaping hives then rubs all his hair off! Spraying with permoxin (mixed with water to the labels specifications) morning and evening you would never even know he had itch.
