Hey Jessca C tick compliance is not something that is obtained in the US, it's an Australian standard. There are many things you can import but would need to obtain certain compliance for such as motor vehicles etc - you can bring them in but not use them. Hope that helps clarify :)

Brisbane Dog Behaviourists - Desperately Need Help!
huski replied to Latoya's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
 That is horrifying!!! PS, good luck with Jane. She's a lovely lady and a super trainer :) -
You can import prongs, it's just restricted (i.e. you need to have a permit). There isn't an import restriction on e-collars but the warranty won't extend to Australia and there is no C Tick compliance which makes them illegal to use or even own anywhere in Australia. Besides that, the shipping costs usually make importing small numbers of collars quite expensive.

Snook it is the cuz, the crackle heads also come in a ball (no feet etc) but they aren't available here yet.

Thanks, unfortunately the mediums are out of stock. Hey guys We've got these back in stock now :) And we have an extra 5% off for DOLers who use the code DOLERSSAVE. DOLers get great bargains shopping through DOL! Lucky for me my dog doesn't care about the sound of the squeak, he only cares that a) it makes noise and b) it's a ball  I bet Justice will love it! We just got these in and they've gone so mad we had to order more than double what we originally did to keep up with the demand. What dog wouldn't love a plastic bottle inside a ball??? I have to admit I haven't been this excited about a new product in a little while. Mr Micha's two favourite things in the world are chewy rubbery balls (like Cuz balls and iSqueaks) and plastic bottles.
-
Yep, I already have them on ignore. M-Sass is a troll who has been trolling DOL for a long time under many different user names. I can't believe the owners got away with just a $550 fine

Dog Boarding And Obedience Training
huski replied to tixx's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Just so you know - most of our clients don't require more than one lesson and follow up lessons If required are less than the initial consult price. I don't think B&T is bad when done well but I don't know of a a place to recommend off the top of my head. -
Hey Alfie I wouldn't recommend cutting it, if you do, water can get into the collar and damage it and even if you seal it the stitching could unravel. If it's a new collar we can exchange for a smaller size but if not a lot of people use rubber bands or similar to hold the end of the collar snug :)

Thank you guys! I found a nearby BP&Gs store that has the right Holistic Select for Cherry bean and mum is going to pick it up :)
-
Oh trinabean holistic Select would be super too! Whereabouts is that place? I need to know as my Mum has moved to Perth with our little family dog Cherry and she can only eat fish based dried food.
-
Hey guys Does anyone know of a pet store in Perth that stocks Earthborn? I am struggling to find a list of stockists online! :)

Help, My Dog Is Mysteriously Scared Of Me!
huski replied to Dju's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
How old is Hugo now, Dju? -
Cherry made it to Perth safe and sound and is loving being back at our family home there. She is apparently running around like a puppy and having a great time. I'm still really sad and miss her lots but the house there is much better for her than my place plus she's the only dog there so is getting loads of attention. I'm happy she is happy and my mum is so glad to have her there.
-
No no (not at this stage anyway!) I'll be there over Christmas time though to visit mum and Cherry. Maybe with Daisy, not sure yet.
-
That would have been a LOT easier!! I dropped Cherry and mum off at the airport this afternoon, the flight won't get in for another couple of hours though so I am just waiting to hear how Cherry Bean will go. She's done the flight before so I hope she is ok, I was in tears dropping her off today

Recommendation For Trainer/behaviourist In Sydney
huski replied to FredGassit's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
You are more than entitled to share you opinion and views, as am I. I didn't say you were lying, I just don't think it's entirely accurate to say that is all you would have gotten out of a consult. I honestly believe we would never push any client into using a tool they were not comfortable with or wasn't what was deemed the most appropriate tool for that dog, handler and situation. I think it's unfair for you to paint a different picture and not expect any response. So it's ok for everyone to post their opinions, just not for me to respond? I am not trying to belittle anyone. This is a public forum and therefore I have a right to post my opinion professional or otherwise. -
Recommendation For Trainer/behaviourist In Sydney

No, that wasn't all you were saying. You referred to a trainer and made an incorrect statement about the advice they supposedly gave you. I made a joke (I was certainly not trying to ridicule you LOL) because not only did I find what you said a bit absurd but I also don't understand what is that bad about a trainer recommending a bark collar anyway. I also get a bit tired of the assumption made by people that we aren't "positive" in the training methods we use. I not only find it incorrect but a bit insulting. Besides, the old positive vs negative debate is pretty tired. -

Yeah sorry I don't get the joke.PM didn't say a bark collar she said an electric shock collar that she was clearly not comfortable with.I don't think there is any need to laugh. It was just meant lightheartedly. Most bark collars are electric, but to be quite honest, K9 Pro wouldn't simply tell a client that came to a consult that they needed a bark collar and that was all. Even if a bark collar was recommended I don't see how it's absurd to think one would be recommended for a problem barker if it was appropriate. -
Hmmm ST that may be why it was only $60. Mum is flying with her.
-
Not this time but maybe for a visit! My mum has moved to Perth and is taking Cherry with her. I have booked her in via AAE, it was only $60 plus crate through dog tainers which was $45. Thanks everyone for your advice!

LOL imagine recommending a bark collar for a dog that barks  -
Oh I know flying via AAE is totally different to flying a dog as excess baggage, I just didn't realise some airport don't allow dogs to fly as excess baggage.
-
If they fly excess baggage you don't pay anything if your plane ticket includes excess baggage already (and if it doesn't its only about $20 to include it), I flew Daisy a few months ago as excess baggage and it cost me nothing. I believe flying through AAE costs the same regardless of whether you fly with the dog or not, but I didn't realise that some airports don't let you fly the dogs as excess baggage through the terminal. It sucks because it adds extra time the dog needs to be crated and Brisbane -> Perth is already quite a long flight
