Yup i agree with you 100%... Which is why im trying to do the right thing by the Pup in advance.. Generally they are good hearted, caring dog people. Orlando WILL be desexed and is wormed, up to date with vaccinations, socialised, and is booked into puppy school. They just didnt do their 'homework" on the breed BEROFRE they purchased the dog.I have done it AFTER they did.

My Fiance's sister and her cousin have bought a Pomeranian. Not sure if from a BYB or registered breed as he didnt come with papers and is not desexed. He is 13 weeks old. They happen to visit the "parents" of the little guy ( Orlando) on the weekend, and Trevor said that next summer they will have to get him "clipped" :D My responce was please don't as they are a double coated dog and it will effect their ability to heat/cool themselves and it will also wreck the coat. You only need to groom their coat as it stands up for a reason. Now my question is 1/ am i correct in saying what i said 2/ what do other people with Pomeranians do when the coat gets "excessive" I just want to make sure that poor Orlando doesn't be subjected to a "haircut" "shave" if its unnecessary...and i want them to have facts as it is the only way they will listen as what i say seems to fall on deaf ears...unless its from actual fact sheets. Yes i have done a search and i can't seem to find anything that states Do NOT shave/cut their coat. Thanks in advance Maree

Heheh.. I didnt even know Gemima liked eggs till I caught her one day with an old duck egg in her mouth... nealy heaved watching her eat it..it was dehydrated inside so wasnt messy.. no side effects either afterwards. she has NO trouble breaking the jolly things.. I take her walking around the yard.. she finds the ducks hidden nests for me.. but i tell her "leave" and she wont touch them.. She is another one that is Definately NOT gentle with eggs..

Ok its seem I am going to embarrase my self beyond limits here, but given Gemima's size ( only 20 cms tall) and the fact she HATES being bathed, and I have arthritis in my back so cannot bend for more than a few minutes at a time, She has a bath WITH ME .... she is relaxed about the ordeal, isnt scared, loves her shampoos and rinses.Tammy dries her off and I get clean then clean the bath. I haven't had a problem yet, and we both enjoy it to the extent at bath time she ALWAYS tries to get in with me. She is only ever bathed about once a month.... and if she has any really dirty areas like her toosh, I wash them seperately as it happens. Other wise she is groomed daily, and I gave her a puppy clip last week so its all nice and short till it grows again for winter. She was getting way to many buzzies and grass seeds, and other horrid seedy things that just turned her coat into dread locks underneath.

Oh Rozzie.... We have them for what seems like such a short time, and our heart breaks when each and every one goes. Hugs from Maree and the Family

Hi all... When i lived in Thornton ( NSW) my next door neighbour had a Golden Retriver who was prone to hotspots. Her vet told her to use the chemist strength peroxide. It works a treat. It will proberly have a litte sting to it initially, but it fixes the hot spot up very quickly. I have tried it on a Maremma and also German Shepherd,, both time works very quickly, with no vet creams necessary... hope this helps Maree

I use Tear Stain Remover by aristopet available at the pet shops. Not as expensive as Diamond eye. @ 13.95 I was also told that limitingthe salt intake also reduces the tear stain so NO-smacko's and minimal kibble.Mostly bones and natural diet. Since doing this the tear staining is minimal and getting better all the time.So I dont know if its true but it definatley seems to be working Hope this helps Maree and Gemima

poodle fan.. ....just an idea but not sure whether is would help with mini poodles and Kierrasmommy..... When I lived in Thornton near Maitland( NSW) i had an aweful problem with fleas.. plagued by the wretched things.. but use to treat and dab tea tree oil on the prevalent spots.. ie base of tail, armpits etc,, just a dab really kept the pesty thing away... now the question is this.. would tea tree oil ( just a dab) be of use as its a natural product?? or maybe too harsh or over powering for such a little tyke?? Im a great believer of natural products ..
