have just posted in the prizes thread that I find these comments really useful and productive... as a club secretary it gives me the chance to take information back to our meetings and say ..."This is what they want..."
-
See now I find these comments really useful....
If secretaries don't know what people are thinking then they don't have the ammunition to go to club meetings and say "this is not good enough...."
Years and years ago I won lots of that lovely coloured glass that was all the rage in the early 80s... don't know what happened to it now... 5 years ago we were winning things like a 'glass' bowl with fragrant soaps .... lately we have won small microwave pots (food for 1), oven mits/ hand towels... bath towels ... its nice to win a prize and I know it sounds ungrateful but the last thing I need is another oven mit or tea towel... money? well some love it some think it crase...
what about pooper scoopers, picnic sets etc ... we have a really nice picnic set we got from BCF and someone at a show the other day said to me... what a great BIS prize... so interested in opinions there
-
Interstate judges :p - who are not facey... ;)
Great stewards - because a steward can make or break a show....
Clean facilities
Great canteen - will always buy if I can... Because we believe its important to suppor the club.....but being Gluten intolerant not many shows will have say bacon and eggs on a paper plate ....
Level and well maintained grounds with large and well roped rings - with a walkway where people cant camp
Cabins / caravan park nearby for double weekend shows Two day shows will nearly always get my vote because we make a weekend out of if with friends.
Gazebo space is last on my list... while its nice to sit ringside and watch what is going on, its not the biggest priority - If I can keep an eye on what is happening, dont miss my call, and don't clutter up the marshalling area, then I am happy.
Oh and sometimes a 'doggy shop' incase you break a lead, need a new bit of bedding or bowl etc...
naturally of course I like the Albury Shows - that's our home show and it ticks all our boxes, and we dont show there now...
but after that I love Tumbarumba and have already booked our cabin for next year's show... you have to get in early.
Then I dont mind the shows at Thurgoona - thye are only 5 minutes from home also but the food is dreadful so I take my own

I bought a trolley of ebay and its great but I wouldnt say it will last 15 years. But I would like a second trolley....
Can you give me an idea of how much the OKS trolley was.

He is really lucky he is so cute - just a complete crack-up of a dog!!! But then I have a fondness for orangey coloured scruffy things
Yep he is cute so he gets away with it. :D
Will the 'cute' run out or will he grow up????? :D

My beautiful Rosie got 2nd in Sweepies yesterday and today 1st place and then BPIG.
We were very lucky and we were in good company because standing right in front of me in both Sweepies and BPIS was the gorgeous Dexter!!!

Well BBJ found a handler and little Dexter went third in Sweepies.

Congrats to BBJ and of course Dexter and his handler.... he was third to my baby Rosie who was second and Dexter is an absolute cutety...

You'll have to give Rosie a cuddle from me Mercedes. Tell her not to grow up too quickly, she is too cute as she is!

BIS was a Dobermann, r/up was I think the Bulldog.
Aust bred in show was an italian greyhound, I only remember that one because I was in there with the hound
It was a lovely day, had a great ringside spot in full shade and with a view over the main arena, weather wasn't too hot or too cold, and I met Mercedes extremely gorgeous Clumber baby.
Scrappynsuzie, was that you who pulled a chair up next to me on the hill? I didn't realise
Thanks Diva ... and she was extremely impressed with her big white mate under different circumstances it would have been nice to let them interact more....
Are you coming to Adelong or Tumba double?

A lovely day at Tumut
-
Two tiers of rings on quite a steep hill.
Some (limited) parking at the top of the rings but most is back towards the entrance.
Seems to be either dusty or muddy dependent on the weather. Not one of my favourite grounds.
Unlike Adelong :D
Then PF we will see you in Adelong next weekend YES?????
Diva, look for us, we are only bringing two Labs and a Clumber... that shouldnt make us too hard to find... and if we dont have to bring the rest of the fur family we might even have a space under our gazebo....
edited to add that we are going up tonight ... we are booked into the caravan park....
-
Just wondering who was going to Tumut this weekend and if they can tell me if we can park the trailer close to the rings.... can't remember - havent shown in Tumut for 20 years
If we can I might not take the gazebo
-
God - you are all spoilt No I havent got my Vic journal yet... but then my NSW one doesnt normally get here until around 10th of the month so two days late is nothing
-
I have a thread running along these lines but it is about the amount of protein a pup should have in thier diet.... and calcium etc... funny that I actually emailed several companies and asked them what they recommended I feed and why... asked about required levels of protein etc... all that bothered to respond told me which of thier products to use but couldnt quote any figures or the science behind the make up of each product.
I wont use a product just because the label tells me its good.... and I want to know who says a Lab pup should have XX amount of calcium every day ....
