  2. Hi Joan- didn't get to catch up with you at Albury due to the shocking weather!

Asalei sometimes Woolworths/Safeway have cheap folding chairs.

Ha ... wasnt it dreadful... I wasnt hard to miss, I was the silly woman carrying the 25kg snow white dog everywhere... people took great pains to remind me "she does have legs you know!!" But other than carrying her to and from the ring I never left our gazebo, what a dreadful weekend - weather wise...

Will we see you up here again soon, perhaps the double for the Albury shows in Oct?

  3. Shazzapug - For someone going to the Melbourne Royal for the first time, that little booklet sounds quite daunting! I actually felt quite nervous about going down and all the rules I had to adhere to before even getting into the building!

Luckily a friend is letting us follow them in, so we'll be in experienced hands.

BiggD - That's what I thought. One year when we went to Sydney, we just went to bunnings and bought cheap chairs. Does Victoria have Bunnings?

Totally agree... this is our first Royal and it all sounds a bit daunting... we are lucky that another exhibitor has given us advice...

  4. Hi guys

I have just sat and read through several threads on Demodex mites because my little Rosie has been diagnosed with them... Noticed a small bald patch on her chest on the Tuesday nigth, by Friday night there was a second irritated spot and by the time we got her to the vets on teh Monday she had a third spot starting.

Vet did scrapings and nothing showed, I realise now that might be because we had used Revolution on all the dogs about 10 days earlier. But she did have junky ears.... it was deep but the start of something bigger...So antibiotics and a second Revolution... 8 days later not improvement and so the vet did a second scraping and t his time he found some mites.

She is having small doses of Ivomectin daily ... 1ml per 4kg of bodyweigh .... and I have introduced a larger proportion of probiotics into her diet... she does have Anvance Puppy Plus Large Breed biscuits but also has raw chicken and lamb... plus meaty bones...

I found some websites that suggest it be topically treated with either lemon juice or apple cider vinegar... she just sits and licks it all off....

So I am open to suggestions.... has anybody used these

Oh I should add for those who do not know her,,,, she is a 9mth old Clumber

  5. What are the prices ??

Generally there around the $170 mark for a good table or just make your own,buy the wood, legs & matting easy peasy

That's true Showdog and I just thought I could avoid spending that much on something that will be carted around in the car and get a fair bit of work.

I'm not sure if the table area us big enough or not, but how about one if these - it has 5 adjustable height settings

    http://www.ebay.com....=item3a694c420c

you could just put some of the nonslip matting on top from the $2 shop

 Actually I have one of those really expensive grooming tables downstairs in the garage and never use it.... its too tall anyway.... so we went to Bunning and bought an adjustable height plastic top table and OH put a piece of ply on it... then I bought a non - slip door mat to use as the top... works great as a grooming table

BUT>. they dont make one that goes down low enough to lift her up to it...but will keep looking... want something that is no higher than 2 ft.

  6. I am after a fold up grooming table to take to shows with me... my Rosie is beautiful but very heavy and so at 25 kgs is getting too heavy to be lifting up to the trolley....

thought I would buy a fold up low height grooming table.... but the prices are almost daylight robbery....

    any suggestion.

  7. ;)

    What about a Clumber?

I show a clumber and they are beautiful but they are also very strong and if THEY decide THEY are going somewhere I believe a smaller child could struggle to hold them....

What about a westie or smaller... a frenchie or similar.....if the children are going to be showing them and you might get caught in a clash at group times etc why not look at one of the more 'wash N wear' breeds... but in grp 3 you could look at a Brittany...

The Clumbers are so cute though :D Especially your's JOA

Thanks Gumnut ... right now she's cute because she's asleep... but if you could see the destruction she has wrought outside... well you wouldnt use the word CUTE ;)

  8. What about a Clumber?

  9. We already have a few groups that have a weird combination of dogs in them - Grp 6 & Grp 7 could do with a reshuffle here in Aus. The majority of the other groups seem complete (for want of a better word) but I think Group 3 is the only one that truely works as a 'Group'.

I think you are probably correct Bisart Dobes that Group 3 probably works best... having said that, a poodle was originally a hunting dog so shouldnt it be in Grp 3...and of course the Schnauzer is a terrier ....

But I dont have a spitz breed and so I havent voted.... just thought I would add my comment on Grp 3

  10. How is the planning of the trailer building coming along?

I have to admit, I like Rebanne's idea of a wardrobe that runs the length of the trailer... I have only been joking recently - especially last weekend at Albury in the rain - that I would like a trailer that has barn type doors that open at the back (like a little ranger) and a ramp... that way I could fill my show trolley up with stuff and roll it up the ramp into the trailer and ;) ready for next show

Our existing trailer is on old Kewish.... great trailer, really well made and huge, we can fit two Labs in each bay because it was originally built for Mastiff people....but it has a little dicky wardrobe in the middle... great for bedding etc but hard to get the gazebo in and out...

So bring on Rebanne's wardrobe idea....

  11. We showed on the weekend at Albury in the mud and the rain... I wore my normal outfit but changed shoes.

I did however, considering she is all white, carry her too and from the ring  but then if it had been very heavy rain I did have my raincoat there which I was prepared to wear into the ring.

The bigger problem for me and a couple of others was the rain on our glasses... is it rude to wear a hat, if only to keep the glasses dry?

  12. So I have found a couple of really nice places to stay that are pet friendly but they are beyond my price range... most sleep 6 anyway.... but there is just two of us and one Clumber... I will not let her sleep in the car alone and would rather not pull the trailer with all the dogs in it to Melb just to show one dog...

    Any help would be appreciated....

  13. hey JOA!! i forgot to let u know if i was coming!! i didnt go lol too far in the end i decided! congrats for u lil star Rosie!! did u get pics with ur fringie and the judge??

NO... forgot about the photos with fringies... just too bloody cold and windy... and Group 3 was the last to finish so it was late and freezing by the time we got to GS....

yes rosie was great again we where hoping for best in show

Haha!! Thanks Woodys  class in show would have been wonderful.;) ... but.... I am more than happy with my baby, she is doing very well and we are having great fun. And lets face it, if its not fun, we shouldnt be there.. .;) but she is a big smooch and just loves the attention.....
