  1. We'll try and remember it's on this weekend!

We've got shows Saturday night, but I doubt we'll be there too late.

Are you allowed to run three dogs at once?

    Otherwise, can we run:

    Sally, Leia

    Abby, Leia

    Sally, Abby

That's only two goes each, but I'm not sure if you have to run them in the same pairs for scoring purposes.

  2. Does anyone know where you can buy the black, squarish, double sided armbads online?

Mary's Van isn't at Durack anymore ( :) ) and they seemed to be the only ones that I've seen who have them. I had two, but I lent one to my breeder in Melbourne and in our rush to make the flight home on Sunday night, I have no idea where mine has gone. It was only new too :swear:

Does anyone know of any places online that have them? Or some nice coloured ones?

    Thanks!

  3. We've had a good few weeks with shows! I never in my wildest dreams, or goals, thought that my girl would get a Best in Group, but she did, at just 9.5 months old with 65 hounds in the group. Unbelievable!

We then went to the Victorian Specialties last Sunday and with her playing up in the first show, she placed 2nd in her class with the judge telling me she would have had that class if she "wasn't such a shit!". First time on a plane, away from her older sisters, in an unfamiliar show surrounding (inside and on nonslip surface), she came back to get Best Headed Bitch in the property classes and 1st in her class in the 2nd show. She was award Best Opposite Puppy in Show in the 2nd show, so all in all it was worth the trip.

    Best in Group:

Abby's Dam, Gr Ch Orobay Optical Magic was awarded both Bitch Challenges from both shows which now allows her to be nominated for her AOM. She is very deserving of this award and I hope the National Beagle Council thinks the same.

I've had a few issues with her pulling and we couldn't figure out a way to stop her. Sara (her breeder) and I went and did some testing/training with her between shows, and she doesn't like having a tight lead. So in the 2nd show I ran her loose lead and she looked a million bucks. The judge from the first show asked what we did, because "the bitch didn't show like that in my show!" (She's very to the point :thanks: ). Hopefully I can run her loose lead this weekend at our shows and our problems will be solved. Fingers crossed!

  4. Yay and I was there to see it! I made a show of myself and cheered loudly!!

I heard! Thanks :( I heard her say beagle, heard you cheer.. then kinda thought, oh shit, that's me!! ;)

The look on your face was priceless! you sort of looked around for a second then it dawned on you!!

That would have been funny to see.:rofl:  ;)

Pitty there was no video camera! Andrew doesn't bother with the camera anymore. He's over it.

But he got it out to take photos of her win and for GS.

Thanks again everyone. I still smile like a goose when I think of it. I can't wait for Melbourne now!

  5. Thanks everyone! I feel like a goose because I still smile when I think about it.

I never thought that in my first 6 months of showing, that we would get a BIG.

I have to say a huge thankyou to her breeder (Dog Lady) and mum (Hilaryo) for allowing me to have this little girl as my first show dog. She's such a delight, you can't help but love her. People told me it would be challenging having a tan and white as my first show dog, but first and foremost, she's a wonderful pet and goes to shows on weekends.

Now onto stressing about putting her on a plane to Melbourne! Eek. First time for her. I know she'll be fine, but it's not going to stop me worrying about my little girl!

  6. Today at the Beenleigh Show Society, my 9 1/2 month old beagle bitch was awarded Best In Group!

    I couldn't believe it!

Very proud of my little girl. Great confidence boost for me before going to Melbourne next Saturday for their Specialties!

I didn't think we had a chance under this judge and I went to the show thinking it was a great chance for me to see if my nightly training and a few weeks break had helped some issues we were having with pulling and not moving out. I noticed that she only pulled a tiny bit and felt to be moving faster as I had to move faster too. The judge commented on her beautiful movement, so I gather she went better!

Turns out, it was a good choice for me!

Not the best photo of her, we were having stacking issues today! Guess you can't have everything going right!

  7. Oakway - that's what I thought, because after all.. isn't a pill used in humans to stop ovulation??

I'm only going by what the vet suggested. They are the ones that said it may bring her into season. But, like I said.. wouldn't that then be too easy for people to use to bring a bitch into season?

Anyway, she seems fine. Nothing has happened yet. She's been more annoying than usual today, but I think that was from over stimulation and food smells at my grandmothers 90th birthday. Too many people to get pats from!

She's a very exhausted little girl, but not really any different to normal. I just went and did a poo patrol and I found another 3 white tablets and two sugar. So if anything, she's had more sugar ones than white ones. Hrm.. which could explain the way she was today! hah.

  8. I looked at the bit of the packet I found again and it is actually more like 2/3's of the sheet. The bit that's missing is the sugar tablets. I'm thinking if anything, there's around 6 white tablets missing. They could be anywhere, on the ground outside, under the lounge.

    Fingers crossed!

I'll update this thread in a few days to see what's happened.

I'm in two minds about it being that easy to bring a bitch into season.. If it is, I would have thought it would be a more common thing? Yes, it's not really a good way to do it.. but anyway.

  9. I've phoned a vet and she's advised that in desexed animals, it's never caused any harm. She said that in an entire bitch, it may bring her into season or cause her mammory glands to increase.

I'm also concerned about the fact she may have swallowed part of the packet. The bits I picked up off the lounge were quite sharp.

I've been watching her closely. One of them has opened the gate to our room and I usually just leave my pill on my bedside table. Obviously who ever has thought it was good and decided to steal it off the table.

The gate has been on our room for nearly 4 years and they've never been interested in it. Our room used to be the solace for our cat and it was where she got fed and a place where she didn't have to have the puppies near her. Unfortunately we had to have our cat put to sleep last Sunday and the only thing I can think if is they are looking for her?

Crossing my fingers very tight that it has no effect at all. We are going to the Victorian beagle specialties in September and I was desperately praying she would hold off until after that for her first season.

  10. So, I don't suppose anyone has had experience with their entire bitch eating their 2/3 full pill sheet per chance?

I can't definitely be sure it was her, but the older two don't really chew things up like she does. I've found 1/3 of the packet and about 10 or so tablets.. I'm missing about probably about 8 white tablets and the 7 sugar ones.

Has this happened to anyone who has an entire bitch? What happened?

I will be very sad if it brings her into season. She's just over 9 months old and hasn't had a season yet. We are heading to Melbourne in September for the specialties and I was hoping she would wait until after then to have her first!

  11. Congrats on your win as well erin. :D :)
    I love her colour/markings Erin, she's gorgeous! :D

    EFS

Thanks ;) I love her dearly.

There's been quite devastating news in the past week and her litter sister that was kept by the breeder has had to have majer surgery after being hit by a car  She will not be shown again due to the damage, but will hopefully have a healthy life.
