  1. If they had rang me I would have taken him from them, just a phone call, that is all it needed from LDH. I have also written on their facebook page asking why they didn't contact me or any other rescue group, but of course no reply.
  2. Sorry but I didn't keep the ladies name regarding this as it was some months ago and I get approx 30 emails a day and if my memory is right she also rang me regarding this but I know I did send a email to you directly about it so not sure if you would still have that on hand. sorry I can't help any further if I do come across it I will let you know.
  3. I didn't but I think she did but didn't want to push it further.
  4. I have had one person at least that made a quite a sizeable donation thinking it was coming to me and when I explained it wasn't they did try and contact them to get it back, but no go. I have also complained to them about it as I think it is very misleading.
  5. Does anybody have contacts with this pound as I have just been notified that a jack puppy is in it but the listing was for the beginning of this month.
  6. I often get an email from this pound asking for help with the dogs in their care. The last two times they have had Jack Russell I have emailed them back saying I will take them and then the first time I stated I would be down on the sunday to pick the dogs up as there was two because the hours for me to get down to Picton and back to Sydney would not work, they were ok with that, but on the Friday they then gave one of the dogs to another rescue group and one was adopted from the pound and fortunately for me I rang before leaving home to make sure they hadn't been adopted otherwise I would have got there and wasted all that time and travel for nothing. This week again I emailed to say I would pick up a Jack which was listed and was told that was ok and I had to organise one of my volunteers that lives in the area of Picton to pick him up on Friday as she comes to the kennels to help walk my dogs that day, and Jasmine said that was ok and would specially meet her for pick up, got an email back with the paperwork that I was to fill out. Then came home today to find again they have given the dog to another rescue group. Not sure if they care where the dog goes or just that the dog is out of their care. But really I do have more things to do then arrange all that needs to be done only to find it was a waste of time. How do others find this pound because I am just about to call it quits.
  7. Some time ago I read a great article on how the new family should care for a rescue dog. One thing was to keep the place calm and not too many visitors in the first couple of weeks to allow them to settle in etc. I can't remember where I read it and would like to get hold of it.
  8. I know there are a few that do exactly what you say, and I feel very sorry for these dogs because there is more to rescue then just taking these dogs from the pound and off the kill list, then there is the rehoming and not left in kennels for the rest of their life.
  9. Not all rescue groups that have their dogs in kennels do not know their dogs, I personally have mine in a kennel situation and know my dogs very well, so "Dame Dannys Darling" please don't make the statement you made without knowing what all rescue groups do. I actually do a lot of interstate rescue which you need to know you dogs to do and have a great success rate, I also give a months trial period which a lot of groups don't give because I believe you need that time for the dog to adjust in its new home, not 14 days. Henrietta I think you will find quite a few groups out there that will work with you, I always get the people to bring the dog along with them to meet the new dog and also if I am not happy with the meet and greet then the dog doesn't leave me, and that again is because I know my dogs. I would not consider putting a puppy with a dog that age, as I think it is too much to expect an older dog to put up with a puppy.
  10. I emailed Butterfly and no reply. I wish I could catch him but not that good, he appears to be very tame, my husband actually got to touch him but then he took off, was also thinking of doing a letter box drop around my neighbour because can't imagine somebody isn't looking for him. Sorry I don't trust RSPCA up here. Louise I am up the mountains so very much out of your way, but if you are still able to help and he is still around I know my sister could be coming up from Canberra in a week or two and if so I could probably get her to take him back to you, if that is ok and if I can catch him.
  11. When charging on doing paperwork then I would take it you are being paid a wage which I don't think happens in rescue and legally I don't think you can charge a fee. I think the group that is doing this needs to get over themselves and start acting for the dogs and not being a money making group.
  12. As one very tame one has taken up living on my front lawn and I am worried that a dog will get him soon. I am in the Springwood NSW area
  13. I don't think it is legal to do that and also gives rescue a bad name, with these people they would probably never adopt another rescue dog which is a shame. I don't I give full refund with a month's trial.
  14. That has volunteers come in. I have a volunteer that is very good and has moved into that area and now too far for her to come to me and would be great with little dogs.
  15. Yes have already looked at Traders Voice but was hoping to get one policy cover all.
  16. I am looking into getting public liability which would cover me for Bunnings BBQ and other Market sites but also need it for my volunteers at the kennels. Has anybody got anything like this, because I have rang a couple of insurance companies today and they will insure my volunteers but not for any problems with dogs. I wonder what they were insuring for.
  17. I had that problem this morning, wouldn't let me type the name in.
  18. If he keeps coming back, I will just block him and see if that works. He always said he wanted them for the two children to see on the monthly visits but he flies 200 kms to a visiting centre to see them which would probably not allow dogs and that would mean he would have to fly them each month down which isn't going to work. Also was told that he has also abandoned 2 huskies previously. I just hope he goes away.
  19. This should clear it up as this is a clause in the property settlement 3. f) Each party shall be solely entitled to the exclusion of the other to all property in possession of such party as at this date (20/10/2011) including any jewellery, furniture, furnishings, shares and motor vehicles they were in her possession and have been since and has all the vet certificate of all work that she has had done since 2007 at least.
  20. He is contacting me through Facebook and located the dogs on my website. Have just spoken with the wife and and apparently they have been separated for over 4 years and he hasn't bothered with them before now, she is going to contact her solicitor for advice. He isn't allowed to contact her because of the order.
