  1. If somebody would email me the list I will start a thread, I won't have the time the do write ups on them or take pictures but there are pictures on the Hawkesbury pound site and I really think each person needs to do their own assessment. At least this way we will know what dogs are on the list and can go and help if we need be and contact the pound. My confusion started when somebody that I don't know rang me on the Wednesday afternoon late to say a jack was on the kill list as per the facebook page, I stated as I don't have assess to internet I would have to wait until I got home to see, also not sure if I took down the wrong impound number or was given it, but did ring the pound and asked them to hold it until I saw the picture, which I did that night and decided it was not a jack, so sent off an email stating this. But i also rang and then discovered there was a jack with a similar number and said that I would take it, this was with the help of the staff at Hawkesbury, but I know they usually ring me if I miss one. Then received an email stating that the jack that I had said I would rescue was stating on the facebook page that it was safe but all enquiries to go to another group, which I found weird. Another call to the pound, which I might say I don't have the time for these phone call and the staff at Hawkesbury are also very busy and sure they could do without these calls. This has since been corrected. But this is why I believe a thread needs to be going again to stop all this confustion and wasting of time, whether be the same as we use to or just a list which would at least alert people to what dogs need help.
  2. I actually have and did again today because a jack that I had thought I rescue is on their site and saying it is safe but all enquiries to them, why. So I rang the pound to check if I had the dog or this group and was told that I was getting it. My only other thoughts is that if people see this dog is now safe with their name and want to donate then the funds will go to them who have had nothing to do with this dog at all, which I have heard has happened before. I believe my concerns are going to be looked at by the pound.
  3. I heard the same thing was happening at Blacktown where a group had their name on a dog which they were trying to rehome straight from the pound and another rescue group which does that breed like I do Jack Russells was willing to take it but was stopped. then the home fell through and then they took it anyway, who knows where the dog is now. I ask how can a group rehome a dog straight from the pound, they couldn't surely have assessed it properly.
  4. Also HCC 118 a jack female was also on the list, which was not safe until I got a phone call letting me know. For god sake bring back the Hawkesbury thread, I like many others relied on it as I have to look at many pounds throughout the state and haven't got the time to look at both dol and facebook.
  5. I was told HCC 118 a cattle x jack is on the list for tomorrow.
  6. Maybe keep an eye on gumtree to see if he comes up for sale.
  7. As most people know most of my dogs are in kennels, which I visit nearly every day of the week, there is seldom when I don't go in, also at another kennel I have volunteers that go in each day and take them for walks and interact with them, like today each dog got a 40 minute walk, and I also visit that kennel as well. So yes I know my dogs, I also use my donations to help save these dogs which I wouldn't be able to otherwise and if I get one that needs major vet work yes I do put up a help for donations. Like recently I had a older boy that I rescued from the RSPCA at Orange because he had been surrendered by his owner who was 80 and couldn't look after him, I took him in and had in kennels for a while until a carer came along and took him and on a visit to the vets it was found to have a lump which needed to be removed and was going to cost $1200 to $1400 and he was a 9 year old boy. So what do I do put him to sleep to do it, so yes I put out asking for help and within a couple of weeks we had raised most of the funds so we went ahead with it and in recovery was able to make up the difference but once I got the told needed I let everybody know that no further funds were needed. So I think each situation is different and each group needs to access each situation and not have a hard and fast rule. I know there is groups out there that do have dogs in kennels and don't go and see them and that does worry me on how they can assess them. But from what I have seen most groups do visit there dogs.
  8. I also heard of another situation where a staffy and a amstaff was transported to SA and was picked up by the carer. From what I heard I don't think she was aware of the breeds and how to care for them because she put these two dogs into the back of her car without any crates and they had never met each other, well you guessed it, the fight was on, they had to get the police to get the dogs out of the car and they were taken to the local pound, who knows what happened to them. I feel sorry for the lady who was suppose to be caring for them, because quite certainly didn't know what she was getting her into and for the dogs in question because I think they would have been put to sleep once they got to the pound.
  9. Anne from what I was told by the authorities that if you accept donations being money either by fund raising, donations etc you have to have a CFN which is gained through the Liquor and licensing board and that is also needed if you accept money into your vet account also because that is a donation. To issue a tax receipt for donations you have to applied to the Tax office for exempt of tax and charity status. You can do all of this without being incorporated. At Jack Russell Rescue we receive a lot of donations which helps us keep going because I have a very large vet and kennel account which this goes straight to. All of my donations go into my Gift Fund account which you are required to have if you have charity status and a tax receipt is issued for each one and a registered is kept which is audited each year with my books.
  10. I though BP do vaccinate for parvo on all young stock that come in. Hope he is well, unfortunately I think you will find they will put the other ones in that pen to sleep.
  11. Would that measurement be for all dogs, as this is for a Old English Sheepdog.
  12. I have a bitch that is holding fluid. Anybody know of any natural item I can feed to help with this.
  13. Ryally, I am sure I had a phone conversation with you recently where I recommended that you wait for 12 mths before getting a Jack. Also yes your cat will probably get hurt as I explained with two dogs they usually team up and then the cat has no defence and usually ends up dead. At 12 weeks a puppy SHOULD NOT be snaps/snatches and would be quite worried about that as if my memory is right you also have small children. If you are the same person I can't believe you have gone ahead and got that Jack after spending so long on the phone and explaining the reasons for what I said. Like I suggested take your 4.5mth GSD to training and in 12 mths then get a Jack because by that time you would have got your GSD under control but now you will probably have two out of control and a cat in danger. I just hope all works out for you but have my doubts.
