  1. No, unfortunately you would need to at least know his ANKC registered name if he is actually a pedigree GSD. He may not be an ANKC registered dog. He also may have been entire yet never used at stud. My 11 year old Dalmatian is entire, ANKC registered, heavily titled in dog sports yet has never been used at stud.

ETA: I think ANKC GSDs can also be identified by an ear tattoo? Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will pop in n

Is it possible to put prices that people paid. I am desperate for a new vac the one I have is useless, so much so I sweep instead of vaccing because it blocks ever few minutes even when I sweep.

I need a cost range for a good middle of the road one for polished floors and long dog hair.

Gilly, we have a Vax (pet one I think) - $189 at Good Guys. I love the idea of a Miele or Dyson but the initial layout of $ is what gets me.

  3. I already have a waiting list for 2019! Em’s pups had only just gone to their new homes when the requests started.

I have my eye on a breeder and a different breed for a pup. It will be quite some time before I’m ready for that pup but I’ve now got an established relationship with the breeder.

  4. My new car has just been measured up for barriers and doors - hopefully they will be getting fitted next week! I’ve had to wait a while as I had to have the custom camping drawers fitted first. I’ll post a pic of my set up if I remember.

I had the X-trail set up similarly but it has gone to the great car park in the sky. The barriers were such quality that I got a very good price for them. This was our first big road trip...

  5. $10,000 for a 7 month old? I’m clearly I’m the wrong breed. That is a ridiculous amount of money.

If the breeder is running ANKC shows then she is doing so on behalf of a club. I would contact the state governing body in the first instance. The breeder may face disciplinary but ANKC has no jurisdiction over getting your expenses refunded so the only way to approach that is your state’s equivalent of VCAT. Did you purchase the dog to show and/or breed? Are you a member of your state governing body? That may change whether you are required to pay a complaint fee to Dogs ACT. I would also expect that you immediately communicated the medical issues to the breeder and gave her an opportunity to take the dog back for a refund.

You mention one puppy with medical issue and later “sick puppies”. So I’m assuming you have two puppies with medical issues. I don’t need clarification. But I would suggest you be very clear about the timeline in your complaint as it will only complicate issues if it’s disjointed and incomplete.

    Dear The Spotted Devil,

I already explained why it's important to give more FATS than PROTEINS AND CARBS to your dog. Proteins are metabolized to glucose the same as carbs.

High fat in the diet can cause pancreatitis. Not something that reflects a raw prey diet. Ever seen a fat wild rabbit?

Proteins are first broken down into amino acids. Then a-keto acids which can be either used to generate energy or create amino acids (for muscle repair, growth) or fat or glucose. You can explain all you like but the fact is that 17% protein is too low for many dogs. The first sign is a rough, dull coat. 22% is what I would recommend for the average dog.
