I've had my lot on it for a few weeks now, absolutely no complaints at all. The dogs love it, even Miss Fussy Dusty likes it and the poo pick up is less than half what it was when they were on Supercoat and Coprice. No sloppy ones either. The dogs look good.....lean and muscular with soft, glossy coats. I found the service from Sherel, the Vic rep was second to none. She went above and beyond to find a way to deliver it to me, at no extra cost, as I live in an area that's a bit out of the way. All in all, I've been very pleased with the whole experience and I'm so happy to have my gorgeous dogs back on a super premium kibble, but at a really reasonable price. The only dog not having it is my ancient Lhasa Apso.....she is 16 and a change of diet has an explosive effect that's not pretty. She exists happily on little foil packs of Natures Gift, and a spoonful of Supercoat kibble. At her age, she's earned the right to eat what she's happy with.

Got my two entered in the Aussie spec on Saturday. Can't wait, this is absolutely my favourite show of the year.
-
Use an undercoat rake to strip out the dead coat, that'll be more than likely what it is given the time of year it is right now. My black tri Aussies have all had it, a good rake, a bath and a blow dry got rid of most of it.

Insurance Won't Pay Claim For Skin Condition

I'm wondering the same thing. Benson had a very nasty hotspot on his nose and it cost me less than $100 for the consult and the medication. -
My dogs all have "pants", it's part of their breed and I love them. When they gait it looks like a swinging skirt. I would not cut it off, just keep it brushed and enjoy looking at it.

Definitely not Aussies, more likely Koolies, but very cute.

He is really cute. I hope he gets well soon. I'd say Border Collie x Lab too, the white markings are correct for BC and the chunky squareness of him suggests a Lab for the other half. He's going to grow up to be a very handsome dog. I have found the Kong biscuit balls seems to be more entertaining than classic Kongs. I fill the biscuit ball with kibble then soak it in stock til the kibble is wet but not soggy, plug the holes with peanut butter and wrap it in foil and freeze overnight. Really good for teething pups, and it takes them ages to get everything out.

My really well behaved puppy who's never chewed anything he shouldn't, broke his perfect track record the other day. Got my prescription glasses when I was in the shower and ate the nosepads and one of the arm extensions. I was able to get them repaired but I ordered a new pair anyway, as they don't feel like they used to. So....$500+ later, I still love my puppy.

Should You Go To Obedience Even If You Find It Boring?
Gayle. replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
Isaak and I are in the beginners class, and yes it's really boring. I alternate weeks with Dusty who is in the CCD level class and I enjoy that a lot more. Beginners is boring because the exercises are simple, a lot of the dogs aren't well behaved and I don't agree with the instructor that all dogs should be on a correction chain. I absolutely will not, under any circumstances, train a 6 month old puppy on a correction chain. In fact, I don't correct him at all, simply praise him for doing it right. But I like going along for the Saturday classes, talking with other dog owners, socialising the dogs and occasionally competing in club comps. It's the only place you can compete at ALL levels of obedience....including baby puppies just learning to sit. -
I thought it was the nut out of the avocado that was poisonous, not the flesh.

Dusty's near on perfect except she hates my sons with an absolute passion that she reserves only for them. I have no idea, other than maybe it's because they are big and kiss and hug me when they see me, and she takes that as a threat but my god, she lets them know she's not happy with their behaviour.

He's toned his barking WAY down. Occasionally it ramps up again and out comes the collar for a day, but on the whole he's so much quieter. Unbelievable that it could be that easy really.

Dry Food That Does Not Contain Wheat, Corn Or Soy?
Gayle. replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'm feeding it to my 6 month old Aussie. At the moment he's getting it mixed with Supercoat puppy so I can finish the last of the bag, but it seems to have a high enough protein content for growing puppies, I give him more than the other two get though. The pieces are small....probably Eagle Pack size only round.....I think EP or more like flattened discs. -
A raw chicken drumstick in the morning, Black Hawk Holistic lamb and rice kibble in the evening, sometimes with sardines or table scraps. The Black Hawk is a new development in their diet, prior to that they were getting Supercoat, Coprice or Uncle Albers kibble. I used to feed all raw but Dusty developed a sensitivity to it and would vomit it back up after every meal, so the hunt has been on to find a kibble she likes and that I can afford to feed 3 dogs on. We have found it.

Give the Black Hawk Holistic a go. It's ingredient list is similar to Eagle Pack. -
Holistic Lamb Rice Kibble From Petline
Gayle. replied to aj2251's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
There's nothing to resolve. The holistic lamb and rice kibble in the OP isn't Natural Balance and it isn't a scam. It's a super premium kibble made in Australia and packed generically so it can be sold at a value price. The ingredients are listed on the pack, like any other food product sold in Australia. It's an excellent product and much fresher than imported kibble. -
Dry Food That Does Not Contain Wheat, Corn Or Soy?

I am feeding Dusty less of black hawk than I was with the other kibbles. In a week she has not lost any weight and in fact she looks absolutely stunning at the moment. She weighs about 26 kg and she has about a cup of kibble for dinner plus a small handful at bedtime and a raw chicken drum for breakfast. That isn't much for a dog of her size but Benson has a similar amount and he's a fair bit bigger than her and looks good too. -
Dry Food That Does Not Contain Wheat, Corn Or Soy?

Dusty does not have the same digestive health issues that poor Mandela has, but she is getting increasingly picky about her food. She had mostly raw until about 6 months ago then started vomiting it up after each meal. We've tried various kibbles and some she starts off liking, then turns her nose up at them a few days later. We're now a week down the track with Black Hawk and she is still enjoying it, after having dragged half the sample bag out of the pantry when I wasn't looking and sneaking it off to eat. I was very pleased with the generous size of the sample, it really gave me a good indication of whether the dogs might like this as their main food. I had no hesitation in ordering 40 kgs. I am using it as training treats as well as their evening meal and bedtime snack. The output is amazingly less, and easier to dispose of. So all is good here. -
Sure you don't mean 30 pounds? Benson is 30 kgs, there's no way, going by that pic Stanley is anywhere near Benson's size.

He looked fine last time I saw him. Cute too. Definitely not fat, he's a nice chunky little guy. I can see why the blues are so popular, that is such a nice colour for a staffy.

But to be separated from them, you would need to be screened along with all breeders. That's the only way to tell the difference. Being registered and saying you are ethical does not make you NOT a puppy farmer. Check any puppy farm sites....they ALL say they are ethcical and they all advertise themselves as registered. One even goes so far as to say they are an Australian government registered breeder.
-
No, this is what I really said:
-
But to identify "registered ethical breeders" then ALL breeders need to be screened. Being registered does not make you ethical, and lots of unregistered breeders think they breed with a good ethic. And just cos you say you're ethical does not make you so. Just as saying you're registered does not make you so. I will always support the closure of any breeding establishment that produces puppies or any animals in squalor. And so far the animal libbers as you call them, are the only ones stepping up to the plate. The canine councils duck for cover and say "Oh that's not us", the government...from local to fedeal level, pass the buck or turn a blind eye. At least the "animal liberationists", the RSPCA and concerned members of the public are bringing this to the media and saying "DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT".
-
Well, I'm not quite sure who you're really addressing here. Future buyers of puppies? Registered breeders have their canine councils, lobby them to act on your behalf, isn't that why you elect them? Registered breeders have to fight the fight themselves, they have to stand up and separate themselves.....in the eyes of the puppy buying public....from puppy farms, backyard breeders etc. And they have to tell the public loud and clear why it's better to buy a puppy from them.

I made them for my dogs and went to great lengths to ensure it wouldn't feel wet or slimy, but cool and comfortable for them to lie on. Nup, they hate them.
