  1. my old girl Sage just vomitted too!! Maybe its a bug of some sort???? Or is it just a coincidence
  2. thanx everyone...really appreciate all the advice. He had another big spew this morning!! ewwwwww!! Diet change is a MUST
  3. he is on a course of cortisone(sp) tabs as well at the mo.. We went out and bought him a new collar today as a little treat hahaha!! Ahhhh Staffies!!!...u gotta love em!!
  4. Lewis has NO weight loss...in fact he is a little on the heavy side at the moment..if anything he has put it on recently!! I am really taking note of all of ur suggestions and will be watching his diet over the coming weeks!! I am keen to get him right cause i have noticed he is getting a little cranky lately too(with the other dogs)...guess with an upset tummy its understandable!
  5. thanx everyone...and YES..his coat is coarse and skin is dry. we gave him cortesone(sp) injection today and some vet prescribes shampoos and conditioners. What is the protexin?? All my others have fantastic coats and are doing well, just Lewis and his "issues" ,of which he has many, but hey,he is a staffy and its a job lot...lol
  6. The vet is pro SD ..im not a fan of dry only.I do try to use BARF as much as possible, but always tend to worry about getting enough proteins etc. hence y i use the kibble I find they get deli belly with too much red meat.. Since Lewis is a staffy also, wld u please tell me PIP exaclty what u feed yours and i will mimic that for a while and see how he goes!
  7. Ok...Lewis is approx 6 (rescued and wasnt chipped so just a guess).. We had him at the vet.. Vet seems to think he just is a "spewy" dog.. stool sample was given the all clear!! Lewis eats tuna, chicken mince and premium kibble..might have to stick to buyin sensitive tummy kibbles for him.. does anyone else have dogs wth sensitive tummys..and if so what do u feed them??
  8. Lewis has been vomitting randomly..sometimes jst froth n grass and more recently entire contents of tummy. This has been happening maybe a little over a week.... I dont monitor poops cause I have so many dogs i wld have to wait till i caught him. SO...this mornin i had only Lewis locked in,and found that he pooped on my floor...(NIIICE LEWIS).. but when i went to clean it,there was grass and blood!! Could the two be connected?? I have sent him off(with my brother) to the vet now for Xrays, stool samples etc but just wondered wat others thoughts were?
  9. I wld get ur vet to do a needle biopsy to be safe! My dog Sage is covered in lumps and bumps..have had to have some removed but only due them being on parts of her body that would have been uncomfortable for her to get around with. They are all harmless, but i do get random checks to make sure they stay that way.
  10. not sure where u meant it to go nor wat u meant it all to mean.... how on earth can u predict wht u r perception of wat u think MAY be a staffy cross might do to ur dogs... this kinda thing boils my blood
  11. I think the pack he has is the most inspiring thing for me.... My dogs live pretty well together, but i couldnt play ball with them all at once... to watch Ceaser do that amazed me. Wat i love most,is his dedication to the "gladiators".. as in APBT's etc... To show the world what wonderful dogs they are with people and with other dogs in the right hands is exactly the kind of thing these breeds need
  12. i would assess it on case basis..if u look at the wound and it appears to be healing well, clean it up yourself. However Im not all that far from the vet and follow up visits are free so i take advantage and re weigh and ask lots of Q's while there!!
  13. Im not sure where to look.. I will ask around. Might not be such a bad thing. He doesnt seem to be having as much difficulty now. I have a feeling his pad is hardening up as the vet first thought it would. Im sure he will suffer arthritis sooner rather than later or pains associated with ageing will be accelerated by this condition.' We will cross that bridge when we come to it.
  14. How odd.. I dont know where the other thread is..can u pm the link?? Ta
  15. Twe had an agressive little one in our group, the trainer would pick him up and hold him in both arms and put him on his back like "mum" would do unitl he settled. I dont know if this is the best thing to do ,but it worked for him at the time. I cant Imagine the trainer askin them to leave class cause the puppy was naughty though.
  16. What would motivate you to remove a member would it be the dog or the owners??
  17. I was wondering, since i have heard of a few people being kicked out of puppy pre-school,what would push a trainer to do this? A friend of my mums got kicked out,but he is a tool and wouldnt listen to the trainer,so i guess whats the point of him being there. But what other reasons would there be for this? Have any trainers here been forced to do this, and if so,what were the reasons? Erny? K9? Any ideas, thoughts??
  18. Changing Sages diet has helped her greatly... FISH!! Sardines, tuna etc..plus she has the shots..but the diet has been really encouraging for her progress!
  19. i paid under $10 for mine i cant remember if it was $5.95 or $9.95,and it is the i-clicker. You need more hands than just two when clicker training!! lol
  20. They ARE cute..but I will stick with my dopey loving Staffies... I am a staffy hoarder!! u just cant get enuf staffy lurrve! Best of luck rehoming ur babies.. Do u have piccies?? I love looking at doggy pics!!
  21. :D :D Really,...that face reaks of innocence.. Are u sure shes not the scapegoat for some other fartypants in the house?
  22. Olly did u note that the vacc dogs got over it quickly.. ?? mine had it maybe a day ,but the pups had it a week or so each. They are all over it now PHEW!! Funny issue with staffies is that they, well, fart, and loudly... SO I was getting cough/fart/STINK all day lol! Ok..i admit..im a big fan of toilet humor and it made me giggle no end!
  23. I was walking Indie tonight as we normally do,but had her closer to the shopping centre. There was alot of noise. I have her still in training using the martingale collar. As we were walking she started, for the first time, freak out about all the noise, and pull me along. I did as I normally would and pulled her up,turned the other way and walked a few steps before turning back in the direction of where we were heading, I had to do this a few times as she kept pulling. She let off a big yelp in almosta panic of me redirecting her back to the noise. I didnt want to frighten her,but didnt want to give into her either. I just tried to talk quietly to her,and stopped all together. i ignored her,and sat on the fence we were close to. waited till she panic had died down, then just let her drag me until we got round the corner where she felt ok,and then continued my walk as normal. Can someone tell me what i should have done??
  24. I believe kennel cough is airborne?? Your dog wouldnt need to have contact with other dogs
  25. My dog Lewis has lots of nibble marks from where Indie the now 6mth old pup wrestles him. They pull each others ears etc all the time. Indies rather amusing,..if she sees Lewis is asleep and wants to play, she grabs him by the collar and drags him outside!! HAHAHA!
