  1. Congrats on the healthy bubbas, rip for the little girl who didn't make it.
  2. Not a bad idea... I've seen people using rusks too :D Makes sense I guess.
  3. Yeah I figure if this keeps up I'll introduce solids sooner rather than later. Someone has also suggested that once eyes are open I make up some biolac for them to lap up, will be easier than syringing it. They don't seem unsettled today, so fingers crossed for tonight.
  4. They are 1 week, 5 days today. Looks like they all had good weight gains last night so maybe they were just going through a growth spurt. Hopefully no more middle of the night formula runs though *yawns*
  5. I need some suggestions on increasing milk supply. I have tried fenugreek, I am feeding her pretty much as much as she will eat she isn't drinking as much as I would like, but she is pretty much solely on wet food (she had kibble available at all times but isn't that keen) so as well as the puppy wet she gets eggs, yoghurt, puppy milk and some fresh meat. I've also given her some biolac when I've made it up to top up puppies. The puppies are gaining weight, but had lower weight gains yesterday, but more so, one of them cries inconsolably and tries every nipple. He has settled with a top up, but ideally I'd like her to be meeting demand. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Congrats RoseRed! Congrats again Dunwarren :D Good luck Borderpower!
  7. Congratulations Sway. Raj, how cute are those babies! :) She looks like she's doing very well. Good luck Rose Red
  8. I recently made the heartbreaking decision to rehome one of my girls. She didn't turn out to be show quality and honestly I hadn't really planned on rehoming her, but a potential home came up for my boy but the more we talked the more I knew that the girl would be the perfect fit. Lots of stress and tears later, she is happy as a lark with another DOLer and much happier than she would've been living out her days as part of a pack as she really is more human bonded. Now she gets to be the center of attention. All in all it is what is in the dogs best interests. To me the difference between a pet and a breeder doing it is the commitment... as a pet owner, they take on one, maybe two or three dogs... this small number of dogs are brought in at 8 weeks old at a minimum and not bred so there should be a fair degree of predictability regarding the dogs they have brought in and if they have carefully made their decision to begin with then the dog should never grow too big for their lifestyle... I think that the excuse of getting rid of a dog because you've had a baby is a load of bollocks unless there are very special circumstances. As I see it, a breeder is making a commitment to the breed and not specifically to a dog. If we want to keep improving the breed we can't keep whatever we get and breed from that, we have to keep looking at finding and breeding better examples to continue on with, this sometimes means that those examples we currently have may live better with others than being part of a large pack or worse still, stuck in kennels. I think it all boils down to how you go about making the decision to get a dog and why the decision has been made to rehome it. Not all pet people rehoming are doing the wrong thing and not all breeders rehoming are doing the right thing.
  9. It's quite interesting to see how different all the bitches are... Lola started standing up but finished lying down, not sure if she was tired or just finding it easier to keep track of the ones she already had in that position.
  10. LOL... Love it! Just sent it to hubby who is obsessed with Nyan Cat... this kicks Nyan Cat's butt.
  11. Oh wow Becks! That would've been a heart starting surprise.

  16. I have unthinkingly done that before and been told off by the judge in the ring... I was *very* embarrassed, but at least I haven't made the mistake again. I don't imagine chewed liver fingers would be much fun. OMG you had me in hysterics... the visual imagery!!!
  17. Aww we have baby puppies at the moment so can't make it, might try again in a couple of months to get the boys out for some play time.
