  1. Recently i had an adult Samoyed in for grooming who came in a mess of knots and excess coat. He has been bathed/blown out and the body and legs brushed out. The only problem is that his neck area, starting behind the ears, down the neck and parts of the chest are just matts. I shaved out behind the ears as these matts were solid. I made a start on him but he got so distressed i had to send him home and attempt him again this week for his 2nd session. I still have an entire neck, tail and pants to brush knots out of but i am aware this could take another 3 or 4 shirt sessions before i can get it all out, i explained this to the owners too. Can anyone recommend what i can use to aid in getting these knots out? What would you do?
  2. I offer colouring in my salon, I often do my own dogs too for the fun of it I've attached a few examples of colouring I've done to a few different dogs
  3. I tend to clip off matted dogs before i bath them. Once the mats are clipped off then i bath/dry and finish the clip. I'd still wait till his stitches are out though just to be safe. I prefer not to bathe matted dogs unless the clippers can't get into the coat because of the dirt; i much prefer to shave them down first.

  5. I am having the same issue with my SCWT..but she often won't throw up till the next morning..this morning she threw up a big load of dry food and last week she threw up twice over several days and there was dry food in that too..i am wondering if it's time for a diet change?
  6. I'll give the aloveen a try and see how it goes. Her diet is mainly made up of eagle pack holistic dry with chicken frames a couple of times a week. She has a very fine sparse coat so i want to avoid products that make her coat too heavy and flat
  7. I am having real trouble getting that soft silky texture back into my dogs coat, she is a SCWT with about 1" of coat on her body/legs. The problem is that she feels really wiry at the moment on her body. her legs and head have that lovely silky texture but not her body. Any suggestions on what shampoo/conditioner would re-moisturize her coat without making it greasy and flat?
  8. I do quite a number of wesites at my salon in wheelers hill, i have photos and such if you would like to see examples or check out my website www.animalmadpetgrooming.com i know how you feel with bringing home a dog that looks nothing like the breed! i do many SCWTs because owners are sick of groomers trimming them like schnauzers

  12. Does anybody know of a place that repairs hydrobath in Victoria? i know Melbourne dog centre does but i have no way of driving a hydrobath to frankston and I'm in wheelers hill! I think it needs a new motor so depending on the cost i may just get a new bath
