  9. If i had of known about the chest infection before this dog was on my doorstep i would've advised her to wait till the dog is better as the last thing i need is for a dog to infect salon dogs with something like KC (plus i don't like putting a dog through any unneeded stress). Maybe i did the wrong thing by grooming this dog but i didn't want to turn around and make her go all the way home again :/
  10. This vet told her something along the lines of "it would've happened anyway it's just lucky you got to be with her"
  11. I had a client bring me their 12yo Maltese mix today for grooming. I had been informed the dog was at the vets in the morning because it supposedly had a cough which a chest infection was diagnosed, the dog sent home with medication and the vet informed her it was ok for her to be groomed that day. SO.. the dog comes in for grooming is washed, dried and i am half way through clipping and this dog's tounge starts going blue and the gums become extremely pale..of course i was quite concerned this dog couldn't breathe! The owner was waiting in the next room, i called her and informed her but she didn't seem worried? She kept saying "oh she always breathes funny when she is stressed, it's all the noise and all the dogs that are stressing her out, the vet said it was just a chest infection" I somehow convinced her to call the vet and inform them the dog was becoming more pale and really breathing heavily! The dog's chest felt bubbly & fluidy but I'm no vet.. The vet told the owner not to worry it is probably just a reaction to the medication and she will be fine once she is home.. After numerous attempts to get her to take the dog to the vet 5 mins from our salon she took the dog and went home only to then find the dog collapses at home and is rushed to their local vet, revived 3 times before passing away (the 2nd time she was about to be sent home but collapsed again). The owner informed me the dog had several strokes & a heart attack before she finally passed away.. It just worried me that a vet when informed a dog is turning blue that they don't immediately want to see it? I could be overreacting but i thought i'd see what you all thought..

  19. Might post my blades up to Colin next time, had them done by a local guy a couple of times only to find they would come back as dead as i sent them! found out when i took them elsewhere that he had over tightened them all and bent the springs out of shape?
  20. 1) What Dry Food do you use? Previously Orijen but now Innova Evo to see how they go, if no good will try Artemis/Natural Balance 2) How long does that last you? About 2 months for a 13kg bag 3) Do you buy more than 1 bag at a time? Not normally 4) What is the size of each bag and its cost? 13kg, $130ish? cant remember what i paid
  21. Agree with you there! I get mine from Challenge way cheaper
  22. Its a real pity about the Orojen thing, my two have never looked better on the Orijen and we have had no vet visits for his skin since switching from the EP. I'm unsure of what to put them on as i need something without a high fat content so i will need to do some research
  23. I recently has these two very large bouncy 4/5 month old Samoyed pups in for grooming (bath/comb out) and i was amazed at how different their coats & type are! What sort of coats am i going to end up grooming? is it too early to tell? The Male (left) reminds me of a large teddy bear, dense but little/no guard hairs whereas the female still has a dense coat but looks to have more guard hairs making her more recognizable as a Samoyed at this age. I have attached a couple of pictures of how different they are. I am curious to know if you can tell how their coats will mature at this age or is it too early to tell..
  24. The Double K - Grimenator Shampoo works a treat i've had dogs come into the salon with shoe polish or car oil on them and they go home white after only 1 shampoo. http://www.clipperworld.com.au/shop/index....p;productId=155
