Wookie vomitted the first several times he went for longish trips but he has grown out of it now. Hopefully your puppy will grow out of it too. he still hates the car by the way but at least he doesnt stink it out anymore. Good idea from jbb to make it a fun thing. S.

Hi Bailey9, I would take a small puppy pen, a sheet of plastic and a bottle of Trigene along with me and only let the pup go in the pen with the plastic underneath. You can put a puppy training pad or newspaper down on top of the plastic for her to go on. Then spray both sides of the plastic with the Trigene (it kills the Parvo virus) before you roll it back up and put it in the car. I'm a bit (read "alot") paranoid after losing pups not so long ago. We have a new pup now and no one is allowed in the house without taking their shoes off and they can't touch the pup unless they spray themselves with Trigene first. Good luck with your new baby S.

Hi, Wondering if anyone can help.... I recently started buying my dog food (BARF Rolls, Bones and Chunks) from Canine Country down at Logan when I go and see Dr Rowan at Animal Options. I only have one more Chiro visit scheduled in two weeks time but would love to keep feeding the Canine Country BARF rolls to my guys. Is anyone on the North Side interested in combining orders to get up to the 30kg minimum required for home delivery? Or does anyone over here already get home delivery and wouldn't mind me combining with them? I work from home so am happy to recieve the delivery which is every second Tuesday. I have found my guys like this stuff better than the Billinghurst BARF Patties. Thanks in advance

Hi Stirling, I use Vets All Natural Health Booster as I make up my own raw dinners for my guys and really love it but am thinking about giving the Allerblend a try as I have one with skin issues. I have just started giving her the VAN Omega Blend Oil but it hasnt been long enough to see a difference yet. I think the VAN range are great. My dogs look fantastic and have soooo much energy. I don't hesitate to recommend it. S.

Quite often with feeding raw, if you increase the bones in the diet the poops will firm up. All mine are on a 95% raw diet (I sometimes get lazy and give them RC kibble for brekky) and have nice poops. Except the morning after sardine night! Good luck with the Protexin. S.

Hi Dorothy, I was told by a knowledgeable friend (not a vet) to keep my boy on the Protexin for the rest of his life to keep his tummy happy. I have not heard anything bad about it so I will keep giving it to him. As Clyde said though, I also would change the kibble if you don't see any improvement. The Protexin is not a miracle worker (pretty darn good though) and some dogs do react to different ingredients in their food.

I bought my last tub of Protexin a few months ago and the expiry date is Oct 08. It is a 250g tub. My Pom only gets the minimum maintenance small dog dose which is 1g/day. Medium dogs get 2g and large get 3g. Doasge rates increase for times of stress etc. Hope that helps. S.

One of our Poms has a funny tummy but he has been on Protexin now for several months and not had one projectile poop. We also gave it to everyone else for a few weeks when we had a virus scare awhile back. We think it is great stuff.

Have you checked out the Karen Crawford video? She grooms more for the show ring. We found it a great start to learning how to do our own grooming. Karen Crawford Have fun! S.

We have a German Spitz rescue and we use a Plush Puppy Porcupine Brush on her and works a treat on double coated breeds. When she coats right up she can have a coat as big as a Kee and it seperates the undercoat and pulls little hair.

From what I am told Titre Testing costs around the same as Vacc and if your dog does not have antibodies, you then have to pay for the vacc on top.In our area I believe that people just would not pay for both. I would love some more info on the Tick Stop if you can get me any thanx. I am not made of money :p but I would pay for both if it meant the possibility of no vaccination. This is the link for the website Animal Options You can shop online.

I got our newsletter from Animal Options this morning and was pleasantly surprised. My favourite Chiro/Vet is publicly offering Titre Testing to make sure our dogs need the annual booster instead of just telling us they need it, giving it to them and taking our money He is saying: "There is more and more awareness of serious vaccination side effects that does not seem to be published by the manufacturers of vaccines." Does your Vet do this or is he going out on a limb a bit? I for one would like to congratulate him. For all the folks looking for alternatives to the drugs we treat our pets with they also have a product called Tick Stop which is a non-toxic, chemical free homeopathic nosode. It doesn't kill the tick but the animal becomes resistant to paralysis. I haven't tried it and don't live in a tick area right now but sure would give it a go if I did.

Nappy Rash Without The Nappies
pomquest replied to Caesars mum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Luka started getting a rash on her tummy recently too. We just put some Neocort cream on for a couple of days and it didn't come back. I have no idea what caused it though. -
Can you send it back for a refund or exchange Malisa? I was thinking seriously about getting one of those but I won't now. Maybe you could try emailing or calling whoever you got it from and explaining? Do you still have the reciept? What a bummer.
