  1. Same thing happened to me. My 2 yr old amstaff boy squashed my puppy and badly damaged her shoulder. I had to do weekly chiro sessions for nearly a year at $40 a pop! She also had to be kept seperate from the others to allow the muscle to heal... It'll prob never be 100%.
  2. Thanks all. It's not that cheap either! I've convinced her to put the dogs on a dry which has meat as a first ingredient. I don't think she actually read what SAFE dog food had in it, and just thought it would be good because it's organic.
  3. Has anyone heard of SAFE dry dog food? They are located in QLD and it's totaly organic. I have a friend who has just started feeding this to her dogs including a 4 month old puppy but I'm a bit worried about it not meeting the need of the dogs. They are only fed the dry and nothing else. The first 4 ingredients are; Precooked Sorghum, meat meal, full fat soyabeans, blood meal. It says it is 20% protein but I'm still not feeling confident.
  4. Gibbs is gorgeous! We picked up my little girl today... here are a few pics.
  5. My house has just been listed for rent and the real estate has a pet resume form that you fill out.... I thought that was a great idea. It got put up on the real estate's website yesterday afternoon and within the hr we already had atleast 6 cars stop out the front to have a look! It's the only house listed with pets allowed so that's probably the reason.
  6. hmmm yes I actually won the retractable lead.... they were probably given away for being crap! I'll be going back to my ever faithful leather lead
  7. My Stafford Missy was a very good girl yesterday…. So happy with her reaction when confronted by a strange dog acting very dominantly! I live across from sporting fields and it’s about the size of 8 football fields. Dogs are allowed on lead. Yesterday I took my 20 months old daughter and Missy for a walk on her brand new retractable lead. All was good until I spotted a Border Collie racing flat stick towards us! I was a little worried so I tried to bring Missy in close but the button on the retractable lead got stuck and wouldn’t retract. This BC was posturing over Missy and all stiff so Missy tried to move away from it at first and the 5 m’s of lead was all tangled around Missy and the BC. Luckily Missy submitted straight away and threw herself on her back and just let the BC sniff and didn’t move while I got in there and untangled them both. Pheww! The BC relaxed a bit once it realised she wouldn’t challenge him. This all up was happening for about 3 minutes and the owner was on the other side of the field and not once did he try and call his dog or come and help me while I was struggling to untangle the dogs and comfort my hysterical daughter! As I was walking away I looked back and saw the BC was in a drop stay and the owner was walking over. It was obviously trained and was in excellent condition, but had disobeyed the owner when it ran off. I’m not unreasonable, I understand dogs are dogs and sometimes don’t listen to their owner, but there was no excuse for the guy not running over to help me out when they were all tangled up. Surprise surprise, when I went back over after handing the lead and my daughter to my husband, the guy had quickly taken off. Stupid lead went straight in the bin…. How dangerous! It said it was rated for dogs up to 25kg too and Missy is only around 12kg!
  8. Here is my little girl Counting down the days until she arrives!
  9. I'm getting my new puppy in 1 week!! Stay tuned for some VERY cute pics!!
  10. I can't see the photos. Edited to add..... if could be anything if it doesn't have papers to prove it's an amstaff.
  11. Yes i got fridays numbers yesterday and the others earlier in the week.
  12. My boy is a huge marker also... it's a real pain! Every time he comes home after being out all day, he spends the next 20 mins or so going around the whole yard peeing on everything including his bed!
  13. Any recommendations on places to buy DELETE? I've heard it's the best cleaner to use. I'm also thinking of sealing the pavers to help reduce the urine absorption.
  14. thanks for the replies. I just found some pavers on ebay with a really cheap "Buy it now" that just got listed so snapped them up. I've been watching Ebay for weeks and all the pavers have sold for really high prices, so it must be my lucky day!
  15. Concrete would be my first choice but unfortunatly I can't do it at this house. I was just going to leave the grass but the area where I'll be putting the run is quite shaded and the grass doesn't grow well there.... after all the rain we've had the past week, it's already looking like a mudbath and that's without having the dogs hooning around on it yet.
  16. I've recently bought land and will be building a house within the next 2 years. In the meantime, I will be living at a relative's house and need ideas for non-permanent flooring for my dog runs. I've been thinking of possibly using gravel, mulch, or sand? Are there any certain types of the above which should be used? Do the particles blow all over the yard or do they usually stay contained within the runs? Do they smell? I also thought of pavers but they are very expensive, even for crappy 2nd hand ones.
  17. Oh boo this is the show I missed out on. Were there any amstaffs entered?
  18. It wasn't the specialty show I missed out on... it was the friday all breeds show. No I didn't ring them... I assumed they had already sent the numbers off to the cataloguer, otherwise I'm sure they would've accepted my entries.
  19. The post office stamps the date on the envelope on the day it was posted, so there is evidence that I sent it way before closing date. Plus I received a little note with my returned entries saying "Sorry too late" and that I need to ask Aust Post what happened and why it took so long... no point doing that though. Oh well next time I send entries by smail mail, I'll be sure to ring and check that they arrived.
  20. Just a rant! I entered an interstate show and it took bloody Aust Post more than 3 weeks to get it where it was supposed to go I've just got home to find my entries returned as they were too late So very angry right now! This is why all clubs should offer Ozentries, so we don't have to rely on useless Aust Post!!!
  21. He looks happy and healthy to me. They all mature at different rates depending on bloodlines. My boy didn't start to fill out until 2yrs old. I like to keep my dogs lean and often I'm told by members of the public that they are too skinny and too small  For comparison, here is a photo of my girl at approx. 9 months.
  22. When I got mine yesterday the special price was marked on a big sign and the lady at the checkout said they have quite a few big bargains at the moment on old or slow moving stock.
  23. I bought one today in Wollongong... What a bargain! Thanks for letting us know about the special.
