  1. I think this calls for a Xena fundraiser! I have $10 that says she's a crestie x dachi and she has a staph infection. Are you in with your theory Erny? Anyone else want in? Just add your theory, whoever is spot on wins, all other money goes to Xena's vet bills Hope that's okay Megs :D Awesome idea! Pity I have NFI, so I can't bet. Just make something up then noisymina! It took me a while to work out what NFI was, I thought oh you poor thing you can't bet because NFI must be a gambling addiction term or something. I didn't want you to fall off the wagon

  3. Awww, cutie pie! He's crossed with something, but I wouldn't necessarily have picked Shih tzu. His legs and feet don't look 'quite right' for a crestie. Very kissable face though What's the bet that Nekhbet goes home with Xena tucked under her coat? Enough times that apparently cresty rescue turned him down. Wow Yellowgirl that would be fantastic! Thank you so so so much . Will pm you my address. What food would you recommend yellowgirl? My girls get nutrience and i've started her on the sensitive skin nutrience, good or bad? .... Got your PM Megs . The clothes can take two or three weeks to get here, so I'll raid the dogs' closet and post some things off to you straight away. Banshee has a 40cm fleece coat that fits along her back but is too wide for her... should be perfect for Xena! I'll see what else I can find. Nutrience is a good brand. I also like Eagle Pack and Nutro (not a big fan of Advance or Science Diet). Maybe include some fish oil or sardines as well to get some extra omegas in there. Here's a pic of Madeline's skin with the staph infection (compared to Xena's pic on the right). She also had come bigger bumps like Xena. Two vets didn't think she had staph, but when I finally got her on antibiotics it really cleared it up. She still has some mild skin issues but nowhere near as bad as it was when she had the infection. Malaseb didn't work for Madeline, and I wonder if it might be a bit too strong for Xena to start with. If it was me, I'd get her on ABs and continue with a gentle cleaning regime for a few weeks. That's just me, you've had so much advice I wouldn't be surprised if you had NO idea which way to go! sorry to add to the confusion :D
  4. Hooray!! . Spotty boy is home! He is adorable! Older than 4 months though I think All the best with the three muskateers
  5. hehe, was just looking at the clock and wondering about spotty boy myself
  6. Gorgeous girl! . I met a staffy x crested last weekend, he had exactly the same hair coverage as Xina (Love that name by the way! ) Megs, I'm doing a dog clothes order this week, they have longer dachshund clothes too, so I can order a couple of things for Xena if you like ;). I'm ordering some anyway, I like them for the cresties as they cover all the way down the back. Let me know your address and I can post a couple to you. If you're thinking about a possible foster failer addition, I have 3 girls and one boy at my place, so it can be done ;) I agree with CrazyCresties about Xena's skin, she could very well have a staph infection. Looks very similar to Madeline's skin when I first got her. Antibiotics should help with that. I'd go with a gentle wash to start with, sorbelene cream or something similar. As CC mentioned, yoghurt can help open the pores, just slather it on to warmed skin and wash off after 5-10 minutes. Xena will probably help with the removal which is absolutely fine. I'd be doing it every 2-3 days to start with. Calamine lotion can help with calming the area too. But definitely think about ABs for her skin. Natural, preservative free foods will also be a big help. Steve, those two pictures of 'hairless' dogs, do they actually have a skin condition/infection?? Haylz27, Meatball is soooo handsome ;) Mother Moocher, you're so lucky to have seen Wazzat's xolo in real life! I bet they're so beautiful up close
  7. Well, of course as soon as I posted about the issue, she hasn't hiccuped in the last two days! ;) Maybe she's just been pigging out too quickly recently :D ..... ooooohhhhh, hang on! I made her a treat bottle (fizzy bottle with a hole cut in the middle) a little while ago, and she just loves rolling it around and wolfing down the dry food when it comes out (it's her usual low fat dry food). I wonder if the excitement of it all causes her to swallow more air or not chew the food as usual, and contributes to the hiccups. I haven't given her the treat bottle the last two days. Hmmmmm, I wonder...?
  8. No more sleeps ! Hoping, hoping and crossing fingers that the owners won't let you down and we get to hear that spotty boy is in your safe care today! :D ;)
  9. Katdogs has brought up a good point. If the pup isn't chipped or registered make sure you have something in writing to say that they have transferred ownership of the dog to you. Let me know if you'd like me to email a copy of a Transfer of Dog Ownership form to you. It's a form from Central Animal Records to change microchip details when there's a change of ownership, but once the details of both parties are filled in and signed it should be good enough proof that they signed the dog over to you.
  10. Will definitely be staying tuned! Banshee's owner messed me around for about 2 months, I sure hope things go much smoother for you and you get the pooch first time
  11. Does it move under the skin at all, or is it firmly placed? Sounds like it's not bothering him at this stage, and he's still eating well, so considering his age etc, I agree with you to just monitor it for the time being. Give the old boy a cuddle from me.
  12. Hi ES, Banshee's not on any meds for the pancreatitis. She's just finished a second course of antibiotics for stump pyometra. I spoke to the vet a little while ago and she says the hiccups may, or may not be, related to the pancreatitis. She's recommended adding some electrolytes to Banshee's diet and see if that makes a difference.
  13. Banshee (female Chinese Crested) has been getting the hiccups a lot more frequently in the past few weeks. She was diagnosed with pancreatitis in June and has been doing really well since her diet change. Does anyone know if the hiccups would be related to the pancreatitis in any way? Anyone else have a pancreatic dog who gets the hiccups?
  14. Hope dear old Walter is okay. Has the lump grown any bigger?
  15. Still sending healing vibes to Yogi How is his recovery going Robbi? xx
  16. Sounds like you're having similar frustrations to what I went through with Banshee's former owner. It seems once they know your priority is the welfare of the dog, they think they can just waste your time and mess you about. They've got all the time in the world to make a decision because they know you're not going anywhere. I hope you're able to get hold of the pup and it all works out with the two you have at home. I'm crossing my fingers for you.
  17. Doesn't sound good. Maybe they think that getting money for the pup is more important than placing it in a suitable home Can you get a friend to call to enquire about the pup and see if he's still available? Hope the pup is okay, I know you'll worry about him.
  18. Pele had a series of tricks with roll overs, crawling, high fives and a few other things one after another
  19. Caught up with a few DOLers which was great . Looks like I missed a few too, we should have been wearing badges or something! Pele had to win best trick, she was awesome! Madeline won 1st prize for cutest dog!!! 2nd prize for best trick, and 2nd prize for best in show!!! I think Nandi won one of the best dressed prizes, she looked soooo cute in her little dress I didn't get much time to look around, when Maddie wasn't in the competitions, I was answering loads questions about Maddie and Chinese Cresteds!
  20. Ouch!! Poor, poor baby . Thank god he's okay though. Hehe, I can just imagine you pulling your bed apart to be near him. Hugs and healing vibes to the brave boy
  21. Such a hard decision for you! . If it was me, I think I'd go with keeping my dog as comfortable as possible, lots of pain meds if necessary and spoil them rotten for the time they have left. But then, it's not happening to me right now, so who really knows until you're faced with such an awful situation . An Adelaide DOLer's dog has been diagnosed with lymphoma and she has opted for chemo. The dog is doing well and there's been no sickness or apparent discomfort. She says the chemo for dogs is different to the chemo for humans. Whatever you decide for Ollie will be the right decision. Most importantly, he will spend the rest of his days being loved. Hugs, blessings and healing vibes to dear Ollie xxx
  22. What a terribly sad outcome for you . So very sorry to hear this. Hugs to you and little Ollie xxx
  23. Thanks for the heads up BM I loved the series on horses. Will probably pull out my old Men Behaving Badly tapes afterwards now that everyone's mentioned it . Will grab some chokkies too, might as well make a night of it
