  1. Lol - so cute, I am feeling really bad the last few days about Mason being an only dog, he needs someone to wrestle with too!! And I think he is way too spoiled by OH and I because he gets all our attention Jenna is still spoilt, and I'm the only one big enough in this household to wrestle with her which I do.

And I think he is way too spoiled by OH and I because he gets all our attention Maybe we should start up a chant on your facebook about Mason needing a friend and OH might weaken. We won't mention that its 2X the poop, 2X the vet bills. 2X the dog hair and 2X the food bills we will just mention the good stuff like 2X the loving, 2x the free time because the dogs exercise each other and Mason being 2X as happy because he has a sibling for company when Mum and Dad aren't home.
  3. No Valley I missed it - what did they say? Basically that it was rampant at the moment and that it was possibly a new strain from overseas somewhere ...... so make sure dogs are vaccinated. I saw a notice down at Riverside Gradens yesterday as well but I am heading back there this morning .... yes it's around, people just need to be aware. I agree, it is always out there and anouncements come up pactically every year to encourage people to vaccinate, always that its rampant or a new strain. I think vets need to drum up business as people are starting to realise that we over vaccinate out dogs. Perhaps they need to promote Titer testing rather than just push the vacination side of business,, look at how long it has taken them to admit that dogs don't need vacitated every year, but instead they tell you that the dog needs a special three year vaccination. Sorry, as far as I'm concerned the normal yearly vaccination gives ample coverage for as long and we continue to give it every year in order to meet the requirements of our canine associations putting our dogs at risk of Vacciosious (not sure of spelling). Sorry all, vent over I just hate putting these poisons into my dogs year after year in order to be able to be involved in canine activaties. Don't disagree with vaccinating entirely just the frequency of it.
  4. Nope, not heard another peep out of it since it told me that the kicking I was giving it around the room "tickled". Maybe its lulling me into a false sense of security so that I pack the baseball bat away.
  5. Dad just called me to say he is at my house to pick the dogs up, so they will be with Dad in the aircon now, spoilt puppies Awe, you have such a nice Dad, Rubystar to think of your puppy dogs. Simple, Bolt is lovely, hope he doesn't keep you awake too much while he is settliing in. Must find some room in my freezers to make some frozen surprises for the puppy dogs, now that its getting hot. House use to be nice and cool when I had the big tree out the front but alas it had to go as otherwise I would have a treehouse.
  6. Woohoo, congratulations emery, hope its smooth sailing all the way through. :D
  7. Borderbemyne is one possiability, check the Papillon or Border Collie listings on DOL for contact details although they have a web site as well. Donna passed away but I think her husband and sister or sister in law still run it.
  8. You usually get a couple of goes and after the first couple of weeks when the dogs are getting the idea and the tracks are short, your tracks are longer. There are also more aspects than just getting the dog to track that the handler has to learn, some don't involve the dogs, like mapping and track laying. Also you follow up on other peoples tracks so that the instructor can teach you how to read the dogs as they track which is sometimes easier to take in when your not at the other end of the lead. Tracking is quiet tiring on the dogs so they are usually happy to have the breaks in between. Some people who did no training other than Saturday finished with a couple of legs towards their tracking titles by the end of the season. So brand new people who only trained on Saturdays were ready to enter trials? Wow. So why didn't you enter? Cause I'm a big chicken!!!! I' didn't feel like I could read Jenna well enough. Plus I had missed abit of tracking with Agility and other things. Have told myself that I have to enter this year.

  10. This is a method I have had success with in the past but with a little boy puppy who has been cocking his leg since 11 weeks, he just pees outside of the crate through the wiremesh. He will use a doggy loo when penned but we are getting some misses with the leg cocking and if he doesn't have the doggy loo he won't hang on. He is starting to pee on command when we are outside but seems to have an endless supply and I worry about restricting what he drinks with the weather being so hot. Would love to see your housetraining methods pinned. He is a very quick learner with everything else, so am thinking of starting over without the doggy loo but not sure about how to crate train him if its landing outside of the crate anyway.
  11. Tracking is great fun and plenty of exercise. RS if you do it, I'm happy to practice with you,we can lay tracks for each other. I'll have two dogs doing it next year hopefully, we can car pool if you want to. This year we hardly got any rain and although a few mornings were cold, you soon warmed up. You do get use to the early mornings to ;) . Tiggy, there was some talk of having a special puppy group next year too. Here is the beautiful pine forrest we train in, hopefully it hasn't all been knocked down by next year and one of Jenna tracking.
  12. I know I saw that :D Nah, more fun playing with the puppy dogs and taking pictures. Have to teach the dogs to do the dusting under there. :D I hate spots like that you don't usually notice then see it in a photo. Bit like the cobwebs up at the ceiling that you only notice when you have visitors and then you can't not keep looking at them. :D More important stuff than housework anyway.

  14. Don't worry there will be at least one closed door between me and it tonight and I'll have the baseball bat handy. Did contenplate putting it in the freezer, but I guess I need to prove to myself that it doesn't worry me...............much. It just a ball, its just a ball, its just a ball. If its not, then think of how much I can sue Cleanrun for, could keep all the DOL doggies in toys (unpossessed ones) for life.
  15. That's a classic story!! I have a couple of babble balls - the talking one has recently died after someone somehow got it wet (drool or pee or something) but yes it used to talk on it's own accord as well, although I never felt threatened by it The animal sounds one is SO loud, I have shut it in another room so if it does go off in the night, it can't get out I won't hear it. :D Dead Babbleball sounds good right now, did think about drowning it last night in a bucket of water, but wasn't brave enough to open the door ......just in case. Today, I keep telling myself that if I do it in, I'll continue to be haunted by letting it get to me, will feel sillier than I already feel and will always wonder about it. If it behaves tonight it lives, if it doesn't ...........I land on my parents doorstep with furkids in tow and Dad can go kill it for me ;) or I get brave with the baseball bat.
  16. Yep, when it first went of when I was on the computer I put it down to perhaps a draft blowing under the door, and the same could be said for later except for the fact that the timing was always perfect with me waking up and it kept saying the same thing. Know I sound nuts, but it does have me abit on edge, have been trying to rationalise it to myself all day. :D Will feel better after tonight...........hopefully.
  17. :D Not funny when your living it. It is currently silent, if it starts again tonight its DEAD! That's if I can work up the courage to open my room door, I thought I was brave enough to kick it around when I got in from work, but then I'm braver in daylight.
  18. Mine did it the other week although not to the same extent as yours Just went off a couple of times when it was in the kitchen and the dogs were in the bedroom with me! Are you sure the cat didn't decide to play with it? Nope no pets loose in the same room as it. wouldn't mind it babbling if it was mixed babbling, but no it had to keep threatening to get me, or maybe it was Jenna it was threatening. :p It was just me that felt threatened. :D
  19. Okay, so has anyone else got a possessed Babbleball? Last night I was startled by Jenna's babbleball going off a couple of times while I was on the computer, no dogs around and nothing to make it move ect. I was startled more because or the sudden voice in an otherwise silent house not because I am nervous being alone, but the same could not be said for later that night. I don't sleep well and everytime I woke up this babbleball went off but it kept repeating the same babble bits, which were the laugh and I'm gonna get ya. Now the first time I laughed but after it continued to do it throughout the night each time just after I woke, I started to get seriously freaked but kept telling myself to stop being silly and besides there was a closed door between the babbleball and Jen and I. Funny how all the horror movies you have ever watched start the brain working overtime. Well, morning and daylight didn't come quick enough for me and I lay in bed telling myself how silly I was about being so spooked by a ball. So why did I shut Jenna in the on-suite for her safety while I cracked open my bedroom door to see if the babbleball was waiting to get us. Silly thing mocked me with complete silence, the whole time I was getting ready for work, even though I kept checking that it hadn't moved. Went over to my parents place after work, told them about it and had a laugh about it and me being so silly, I think I was working up the courage to come home. Came home and kicked the Babbleball around the house, to let it know who's boss and that I wasn't afraid of it and that if it did the same thing tonight I would have my baseball bat handy. It wasn't so talkative but did it have to say that tickles, laugh and I'm gonna get ya. :D ;) Anything happens to me the Babbleball DID IT!!
  20. Abbey or Jenna? I am assuming we are going Abbey may be best as long as Millie doesn't come over and visit, Jenna is a bit too attracted to other dogs running near her sometimes ;) Jenna sounds exactly like Mason :D Talking about Jenna, will you be having a litter next year Maureen? If I have my way, yes, as it will be my last chance to get a pup of Jenna but depends on the finances which aren't too good at the moment.
  21. Abbey or Jenna? I am assuming we are going Abbey may be best as long as Millie doesn't come over and visit, Jenna is a bit too attracted to other dogs running near her sometimes :D Hehe, Jenna would tell her off, Jenna thinks she is the doggie police. Not sure if we will make this one, I know we have something else on for one of the January trials.
  22. Maybe you need to be on standby for Saturday Think you could remember a Masters level course? :p OzJen, you up for Novice agility with Jenna? NO!!!!!! Better find that voice before Saturday me thinks. :p
  23. Don't underestimaite yourself Rubystar your handling was fine and J would not have let you run her if she didn't think the same. ;)
  24. I only use the clicker when it suits me, but it does suit me alot of the time.
