  1. Thanks Dwynwen, I have a very good vet but cancer isn't his specialty. With her being only 5 yrs old and very fit and healthy ( so I thought) 2 hr walks, running, jumping, amazing appetite, no temp, blood test came back all normal and there was no pain in the area I owe it to her to exhaust all avenues to help her as I know she would give her life to protect me if needed. Im a 40 yr old tradie crying like a baby Im just devastated....
  2. Thank you Rappie, doesn't bother where they are just want the best available. I just don't get how a totally healthy well breed 5 yr old GSD gets this. Lost my last 2 large mixed breeds to cancer but one was 10 and the other 11. This one has been fed the best foods/natural foods, the best of everything thinking it will help against this exact thing happening.
  3. Hi, Pretty devastated this evening after noticing a lump on my 5 yr old female GSD's hip on Wednesday. Took her straight up to the vet and today he went in to biopsy the lump and it was a lot worse then first thought it was under/intertwined with muscle, arteries so it was very very deep, 4 layers of stitches. The mass has been sent away for testing and unfortunately he didn't get all of it due to it being near major nerves and arteries , there is a slight chance that it might be benign tumour but unlikely. Just wanting to know a good pet oncologist in Sydney to see if there is anything that can be done...
  4. I think your view is completely WRONG. My wife works with homeless people and these dogs are treated very well, there owners will go without food themselves to ensure the dogs eat and eat well. The dogs always look well and well fed. They are very well behaved, and seem happy and settled pups. I was in the CBD this morning and talked to a homeless gent with 2 dogs and they were in impeccable condition and were so well behaved, i went and got him $50 worth of dog treats for the dogs. And letting the rangers take them they will end up euthanized and thats a great outcome.
  5. Hi, Just wondering if there are any Beauceron breeders in Australia? If not where is the closest Thanks Dave
  6. My gsd & RR love nutro and it loves them. Tried all the American foods Artemis etc and the gsd wouldnt put on weight tried nutro put on 5 kilos in no time, feeding the same amount as Artemis. RR has alergies and seems a touch better on the nutro lamb. My other reason for changing was the high numbers of American foods being recalled for making dogs sick. Nutro Australian made 'BONUS".
  7. Hi, I feed my GSD who has very, very weak stomach and she is great on it , tried all the US brands Artemis etc and she is a hundred times better on nutro. Fim droppings put weight on unbelievable fast. But she has just got sick and was just a bout of gastro. Cant speak highly enough about Nutro.
  8. Ive tried Artemis ,Evo, Eagle pack for my GSD and she did poorly couldnt put on weight no matter how much I fed her. Her droppings were loose on them all as well. I tried Nutro Australian made and she has put on 4 kilos in 2 months eating the same amount as the ones previously mentioned. Dropping all good now too. Also I didnt like how USA made foods seem to be getting recalls all the time for making dogs sick with cheap ingredients from other countries.
  9. I'm sorry you feel this way Dave, and sorry that the Pet Shop feels that way also. Its a shame your dogs are going to have to give up a food that they obviously do so well on. We do have a postal service for customers who cant obtain our food in their local pet store, and I have offered to post the food to you directly, we ship food all over Australia to places as far as Alice Springs and outback WA. For those people who cant accept delivery at home we ship to their workplace, as will any of our online suppliers. Our aim is to make sure that every dog and cat in Australia can be fed Artemis and there are also certain pet shops that we will just not put our food into. Judith -Artemis Pet Food Australia. It is a shame but until people stock it out here im stuck , I cant get stuff delivered to work as it is quite high security and would be fired for it so yes I dont want to change from this wonderful food but i need to feed them the next best thing that is readily available to me. I wont feed them grain filled garbage. Have you contacted stores out here as none of them have ever even heard of the food & that includes the ones that don't sell animals...
  10. Yes I agree. Just remember that any money going to PP will be used to buy more stock from puppy farms, more puppies to put in those glass containers purposefully placed at the front of their shops to encourage impulse buying Ill give pro plan a look but the pet supply shops more or less say its not up to them to chase the food its up to the company to (Artemis Australia) contact them and coming from a similar industry i agree if you want your product out there you have to push it ... Anyway I have 2 bags at present and when they are getting low if there are no stockists out here California Natural it is......... Thanks for the views on the food
  11. Thanks , yes i have contacted them and the nearest one is over an hour away , I even contacted 2 more pet shops today in the western area and asked if they would stock it and got a no that they havent even heard of it , Im going to try my vet and see what he says , I think they need to market it a bit more.
  12. Yeah I know I would think about the royal canine but the others no , there all grain , royal canine is too actually. Fresh mix adult , look I think the food is great but it also has to be easy to purchase , Im hopeless I know I'm getting low and I just keep forgetting to order 2 new bags and then you relise you have 2 maybe 3 days left and then the stockist is out of stock... Yeah, I've noticed that about Royal Canin. Hills too - first ingredient is corn. Have you got a Petbarn near by? One that might be worth trying is the Dick Van Patten stuff.. not a lot of grain if any. I think they use potato as the filler. First ingredient in the Advance adult is chicken. I feed a fair bit of raw chicken so I feed other kibble. Yes I have tried it but my shepherd has the usual sensitive tummy and it didnt work, No one out here has even heard of Artemis and when Ive asked them would they stock it and get a no all the time , look California Natural might not work for her and I will have to stick to Artemis but i just wanted some reviews on it and then see if Ill give it a try. Advance has chicken which is 80% water it would be better if it was chicken meal.

  14. I think its pets goods direct actually i havent been there, was refered by a friend its only a small place , but unfortunately i need to feed my dogs something decent and that is easily obtained in my local area , i would prefer not to give money to PP but if thats the next best thing i have to till Artemis get a stockist out this way. Where do you get your Artemis from? I get mine from Pookinuk and they even put it in the garage for me. :D Natural pet store , but unfortunately i have expensive stuff in my garage so i can't leave it unlocked , that woiuld of been great, at the momment I'm getting it delivered to a mates shop but he is closing next month and all my neighbours work full time, so thats why Im wanting to change to a food I can get locally , eagle pack is out my shepherds belly doesn't like it .

  17. Hi , I currently feed my ridgeback and shepherd artemis fresh mix adult , but recently been having trouble getting it and there are no retailers in Western Sydney to just go and pick up a bag from it has to be ordered over the internet and its becoming tiresome , so a local independant pet supplies shop sell California Natural and i was wondering how this stacks up against Artemis. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. thanks
  18. Hi, I dont know any good mobile groomers but we get our ridgeback and shepherd done at a groomer at Blaxland and she is great and really reasonable its at the Mountains Animal Hospital 74 murphy st Blaxland 4739 4011 ask for Sharna .
  19. Hi there, My rr has been through the 6 weeks of eating roo and potato to eliminate food allergies and he is allergic to dust mites , with the cortizone our dermatologist said it hangs around for up two 8 weeks so we were right as his last one was 3 months before, with the roo she said no mince just roo pieces as its more pure than the mince ,try pet barn.. With the antihistamines try different brands telfast 180mg helps our boy , zyrtec etc Good Luck
  20. Hi there, My rr has been through the spot test and the 6 weeks of eating roo and potato to eliminate food allergies and he ia allergic to dust mites , he has been on the injections for 3 weeks now and seems better but since finding out we wash his bedding twice a week in hot water so its probably a culmination ofalot of changes, with the antihistamines you have to alternate brands regulary according to our dermatologist .
