  1. I'm a bit brain dead at the moment as my step dad recently passed away and I need to get myself organised as Ekka entries are due shortly so I need your help. As you can guess from my topic I need a new Heelwork to Music routine for Chook. Chook is a clown of a dog and is a typical male border collie who likes to take the lead when we are dancing. The song needs to have a steady beat that you can walk to easily and something that people know and can sing along with any ideas will be greatly appreciated. :D
  2. That is why it's called "Trialing" ;)
  3. Have you thoght about getting Cherry and doggy toilet, they are great for people who live in units or highset houses?
  4. Well done to you both I watched you while I was doing groups (which stopped me stressing ) you both did well. We just need to fix up your left turns so it doesn't look like your kicking Lottie in the head Congrats and Well done
  5. Redcliffe Dog Obedience club here in QLD held a Rally O comp yesterday and I competed with my 2 BC boys Chook and Styler It was great fun just a simple novice course. It has been raining up here a lot so the ground was quite soggy which made is hard going. It is quite difficult as you need to concentrate on the course and the cards so your mind is taken off your dog. You can and are encouraged to talk to your dog while competing. It is going to be a great sport where you will need to tighen up your handling skills and the way your dog works around your body. I managed to place 3rd with Chook and Styler would have recieved a quallie for both dogs if it was an official sport. Roll on Jan 2012 its going to be fun. There are soooo many great dog sports out there now there is no reason people should not be competing in some kinda sport with there dogs.
  6. Does My Bum Look Big In This?????? Great Photo's
  7. Be very aware that although dog parks look like a great place to socialise your young pup it can come at a price. The others have posted some very good points and remember not everyone vaccinates or regularly worms their dogs. Not everyone picks up the dogs droppings either and your pup will be running around through this. We've had several pups through our clinic after they had been to dog parks with a good bout of gastro, we've even had a broken leg or two from big dogs jumping on smaller one, we've had to suture bite wounds from fights etc. In my opinion. Your local obedience club would be a better place to socialise and learn something while your there. A good dog club will ask for a vaccination certificate to be on the grounds. Why put your pet at risk if you don't have to.
  8. Congratulations to all the winners :D So now we all want to see photo's
  9. Great routine. I met Richard when he was out here last year. I did a week-end seminar with him as well. He is very passionate about what he does and is very giving of his time he shared all his training tips and techniques. It was a great week-end. It was wonderful to sit with him and watch his routines and listen to him critique himself, he showed us where his sutble cues were and where he had let the dog down etc. I learnt a lot that week-end.
  10. There is a product called Racumin it is used in the farming industries. Quote from the brochure. " Using Racumin not only kills rats and mice but is reduces the risks to your pets, work dogs and other animals. Other rodenticides pose the risk of secondary poisoning to non-target animals. Secondary poisoning occurs when a dog or an owl eats a poisoned rodent. The level of residues in the doad rodent body will determins this risk." Unquote

  12. I would be making a video diary that way you have evidence that it is their dog barking. Video diaries are much better as you can actually see and hear how bad it is. As for keeping you up at night. I would be going over and knocking on their door and say "I'm sorry to wake you up at this late hour but your dog is barking and waking up my children can you do something to stop it barking". Every time the dog barks go and do this they will get sick of being woke up at all hours of the night like you are. Keep at the rangers tell them that your children's health is being affected as they are not sleeping. Hope this works.
