  1. So sorry to hear this. Take care. When Waldo was lame we did heaps of focus work.
  2. Waldo was in Open at the Victorian State Championship. Our first pass with a score of 180. And we won the ring. A huge difference from our last trial 2 weeks ago. A nervous dog who broke every stay has become a bouncy happy dog who was jumping out of his skin to work. Not even a very wet ring put him off...apart from high elbows in distance control.
  3. Reckon these recallers is working. Waldo was in Open at the Victorian State Championship. Our first pass with a score of 180. And we won the ring. A huge difference from our last trial 2 weeks ago. A nervous dog who broke every stay has become a bouncy happy dog who was jumping out of his skin to work. 4. I am a bit concerned about the Idea that a small dog can be snuck in to areas where dogs are not permitted. I am involved with a community dog owners group and we spend a huge amount of time negotiating with our local council. One of the biggest issues we face is the reaction to the community when dog owners do not do the right thing. If you do decide to take your dog or dogs with you then please follow the rules. It makes it very difficult for dog owners to keep their rights when others break the rules. Now I am off my soap box we have holidayed in the area with our dog and the off lead areas are limited but lots of on lead walks around. The limitation is where you stay may be difficult.
  5. I checked out the video. Helpful so thanks. Not so sure about the music lol! I will give that a go tomorrow.
  6. Very good thought. I did wonder. Two food game is one I do a lot. Any others?
  7. I was more bewildered and we will be going back to basics. I have never seen him fearful. No idea what it was.
  8. Well we had no passes at our Geelong trial. But I had the best and most focussed heeling I have ever had from Waldo. Strangely Waldo sat and did not drop on Distance Control in both trials. I was totally bewildered with his stays though. I can't remember Waldo breaking any stay, in training or trials ever breaking a stay (apart from when a dog just about jumped on him and we had a repeat go) but he walked out of the ring with me on both days. He was totally out of it. On Sunday he was so scared he peed all over my shoe when he reached me. And yet he was as happy as in the ring! He nailed the drop on recall and dumbbell retrieves. Best ever. Highly driven recalls. So I was over the moon with most of it and totally bewildered with the stays and Distance Control.
  9. I was there today. The grounds are ok. Grass was wet and a bit long. It was raining when I left though.
  10. No I don't have different cues but I will from now on! I am very careful where I reward because I stuffed up big time and had a lot of repair work to do. I am not sure if the course is what I thought it was thus far. Waldo has a great recall but lacks focus generally. The RZ , ITC, Crate Games and tugging is what I am gaining on. Anyway I will use front as we use that in rally. Thanks.
  11. I need some advice. Since playing these games Waldo is stopping about 60cm from me in formal recalls, retrieves, etc. This is a new issue and we are competing this weekend and I was hoping for my first Open pass. How can I fix this?
  12. Thanks Jess. It is hard not to get bogged down. A good reminder! I still can't work out how to follow people though!
  13. Dog snatch warning after Sale incident July 1, 2014, 8:30 a.m.A SALE woman is warning dog owners to stay safe after a man attempted to snatch her 12-week old Scotch Collie puppy from her arms on June 13. See your ad hereThe incident occurred at around midday on the corner of Raymond and Stawell Sts in Sale. Jemma Dyson said she was walking her new puppy Willow when an old white Commodore pulled up beside her and occupants started asking questions about her dog. "As soon as I saw them get out of the car and come towards me I picked up my pup, sensing something was not quite right," Ms Dyson said. "After several questions they asked me to put her down to see how she walked. "When I refused, the male lunged at me and tried to take my pup out of my arms." Ms Dyson said the incident left her feeling concerned for other residents in the area. "I fear that these people may target children or teenagers walking their dogs," she said. "If I was a child, I wouldn't have Willow anymore."
  14. Hw are you following each other. I am pleased that a list of abbreviations was put up!
  15. It took Waldo about 2 goes at the name calling game to get that if he turned his head so we can get his collar he got a treat quicker. Wish this darling would be as cooperative in the ring without treats....before our next trial!
  16. I think Waldo enjoys the game too much. He is rubbing his head on me and then looking for treats. LOL
  17. I spoke to someone who had the same issue. They solved it by putting the dog in his crate as soon as he broke. No frog march or any punishment. Just ok you don't want to play by the rules you can't play. It didn't take very long to fix.
  18. Can someone tell me what the "Your 'H' is on the record sheets is?
  19. I am using an Ipad. No problems thus far - although the human operator can forget she is on an Ipad when watching tennis in the early hours of the morning! Take the plunge!
  20. Me too. Signed in as Sue & Waldo. Thanks for the advice folks.
  21. How would this help competitive obedience rather than agility? Any feedback welcome!
  22. Gosh you are testing my post World Cup lack of sleep memory now! I only know because a friend did it. So I am not sure. I think they met at Jells Park. I can ask at my club on Sunday and post or check Dogs Vic web site and get contact details.
