  1. Yep, in italics is what I got back no Hello, or Sign off, just that.... still waiting for something, so will see!
  2. Ok, got an email from Manager saying - I will investiage TODAY. so I guess I will wait and see. Dont get me wrong, I totally know what bullies are like with hurting themselves and getting into trouble. I completley understand that it totally could be her fault, hence why Im not getting out of control mad. But its the amount of cuts and scratches that bothers me and that noone could tell me what happened. I just want to be able to avoid it in the future... Will post when I get a reply.
  3. no response yet ...and I know they would have read the email by now, they invoice and do all online bookings etc. Will give them till tomorrow for a reply then call.
  4. Sent off an email, just explaining my disapointment in how it was all handled. I know it could quite likely be her own fault, but to me where they are it seems like it's unlikely from scratching or jumping on a cage etc. I just would like to know so if I ever had to board them again I can know what caused it so it doesn't happen again. Holidays I have always taken them with me, but this past weekend was a work conference and it just wasn't a possibility for them to come along . Like someone said scabs would have meant blood they are definitely deep enough there is no doubt about that. I sent it off to manager. Will let you know what I get back. Thanks for advice and some perspective, it's much appreciated.
  5. This is why I am sitting on the fence with having a proper complaint- because I really don't know what happened. I was supposed to recieve a 'report' on each of them when I picked them up but got nothing. Shes in a kennel run at home during the day that has dog mesh on it and she's never hurt herself on it before...plus all the cuts are up more between her eyes, not around her mouth or end of nose if she had been biting or scratching at the door. Honestly I think that another dog has had a go at her and they haven't done anything/said anything about it. I don't know anything else that would make such deep cuts on her face and so high up. I did tell them she's a show dog and asked for her to be alone. Its hard enough for me to trust people with my dogs now I am even more paranoid! Took some pics on my phone last night to send to a friend for their opinion, so I might just write an email with picture attached and say I'm disappointed I didn't get reports on how they went and this is what her face looked like and see what I get back. Frustrating when you pay people to look after your beloved pets and you get below average service
  6. Just want to see if others would feel the same as me...feeling pretty annoyed. Boarded my 3 BT's over the weekend (friday morning to sunday arvo). I go to pick them up on Sunday afternoon, and while my two adult dogs are all ok, my 7month old looks like shes run into a cheese grater. Literally when I saw her I did a and 'OMG WHAT HAPPENED TO HER FACE!!!!!'. The staff looked at me blankly and said oh we didnt notice it...now these scratches on her face are deep thick scabs, not little tiny surface marks. It will take at least a couple of weeks to clear up. I had her booked into shows over the Easter weekend, which in all honestly, I cant show her when her face looks the way it does. Shes white also, not dark coloured and some stage there would have had to have been blood, considering there are now some decent scabs. At the time I was so shocked, and could tell the staff there on a Sunday were so young that they probably had nothing to offer me in the way of information. I dont know if I should formally complain or just let it go and put it down to experience and not board them there again. They so very rarely go to kennels, in fact the pup was her first time away from me since she was born, so I was already stresssing and then to come home to that well.... So- what would you do? Formally complain or let it go?
  7. No, there isnt big money in winning shows. Its another expense really- entry fees, petrol getting there, equipment for the day etc- all apart of the hobby. If all puppies are healthy and we are looking at it from a pet buyers perspective (who has no intentions of showing/breeding) there is nothing that makes a show pup more valuable. For me, all pups are the same price regardless of show prospect or not. You cannot guarantee an 8 week old puppy is going to be a show winner anyway (not in my breed anyway). there is too many variables that change as the dog grows... so price for me is based on the going rate in the breed (usually same as stud price), for pups from health tested parents.
  8. Just thought Sunshine Coaster's might be interested to know that Park Veterinary Clinic does AI's - fresh, chilled and frozens. They do all repro side of things as they are actually across from the Race Course at Caloundra and are also equine vets. Only found this out by wom this week. Cant comment on what they are like, but good to know there is someone in the area.
  9. The dress up is the Saturday right? And uniform or something? My Dad is a firey maybe I should ask him to lend me a fire service uniform ( would have to do some adjustments to make it fit!!) Wasn't planning on it, I've not been to a show where there has been a dress up do people usually get into it?
  10. I like shows that are on afternoon/evening in Summer. A few shows that I did over Summer, it was scorching hot by about 10am. One day we got baby puppy in group and it was stinking hot, that was at about 11am...we ended up leaving cause it was just too hot with a 13 week old in a crate, but I heard later they didnt get around to 'in shows' till about 3pm. I couldnt have stayed on for another 4 hours in that heat with a puppy it was too much.
  11. There is a show on the Wednesday - different grounds. http://www.nrdogsnsw.com/Clubs/Ag%20Affili...aclean_show.htm Thanks janeses! I thought I was going crazy trying to work what the hell I was missing!
  12. Josuki or Kelpiesrule- have you done your entry forms for it?? I dont know if I am a dunce and cant work it out...but it says at top of the info 7 shows in 5 days- I can see info for 6??? 1- Thursday 2-Friday 2-Saturday 1-Sunday Am I missing something here ??
  13. Ohhh I have had something similar, black work skirt little white 'peach' shaped marks from sunscreen (white bull terrier, summer, without sunscreen his back-wheels get burnt!). After I put sunscreen on he must have back-up on to me and left his mark lol. Or, I go out and think Ive got all the dog hair off me with the lint roller, and there is a strip I have missed!
  14. I can see disaster written all over it if we had one of these! Dog wants out- jumps down and the chair goes flying... Other dog comes up, jumps up to see whats going on, chair goes flying...
  15. I hope it has a big turn out! We arriving on Wednesday and leaving the following Wednesday
  16. It is confirmed were going down, house booked down there- I'm getting excited now! I have Bull Terriers, I'm just taking the one puppy bitch down for the shows . Sharing a house with two other Bully-heads so there will be 6 BT's from Qld down there Josuki, what have you got? And have you been to these before, or is this the first time they have done it?
  17. I got sent the info via email a while ago, a few of us are thinking about going to make a long weekend of it (travelling down from Qld). Havent been to a show there before, just wondering what the turn out is like? And are another's going along? Apparently its not published in the journal...
  18. A few years ago I was out walking my silky and a ridgeback came running over picked him up, shook him from side to side and dropped him and walked off. My dog didnt have a mark on him- but died in my arms on way to vet. The other dog broke his ribs and they punctured his internal organs and with in about 15 minutes he was gone. So just because there is not a mark, doesnt mean there isnt damage. I think you made the best of a horrific situation Jimmay, and to be honest after having a dog attacked I would do the same thing. Why make a situation worse by walking two dogs over to a couple of dogs which are obviously dog aggressive and attacking another? I dont see how that could be a logical decision to make. Am glad to hear the man and baby were ok, I just hope the little dog was ok later on.
  19. i just got chills reading this! Snakes and the dogs always scare me.
  20. Yes, mine hates other cats too. I am not big on cat behaviours as he is the first one Ive had (he got given to us) and I dont know if its a cat thing, or he is just an interesting fellow. A horse chucking a narnie is worse than a cat!! Glad to hear noone was hurt! And I like that 'breedist'...yes I think I have a 'breedist' feline.
  21. I thought that too- the Bullies are ok, cause he knows them and isnt threatened by that 'look' of dog, but all the others are threats...and the silly thing wants to hiss and scratch and whine and carry on. Good point about the Boxers/Bostons/Frenchies vs another breed!
  22. Ok, this is Cat and Dog related...but its so weird I had to ask if anyone else has heard of it! I have come to the conclusion that Squid (the cat) is dog racist. Well I dont know any other way to put it. For some reason, he hates any dogs that arent bull terriers! At first I just thought he hated any dogs that werent in our family, but after having some friends with bullies visit and he didnt bat an eye lid at the 'foreign' bullies its for sure, he hates dogs that do not have a banana schnose. When Alva came to stay (Boston Terrier) he went crazy trying to attack him, hissing, clawing and making these god awful sounds ive never heard before. I had to be on alert to keep the cat away. When my sister brought her border over, he wanted to rip his face off too, and same goes for staffords, and well any other dog thats visited. Squid wants to take em out. But then when bullies come over...nothing. He walks around like 'oh hai whats goin on'. This is my first cat, we have always had dogs. Squid the cat has been with us for 3 years now, and shares the house with 3 bull terriers, and has been in the house no problems when we have had a litter too. He is totally sweet loveable cat, very cuddly and lovely. Soooo...has anyone heard of a cat that hates all dogs except a particular breed? Is it even possible? Or do I just own the randomest cat alive? (Sorry this is not fully 'dog' related but its just so weird!).
  23. Same here. We have no cockroaches or insects, cause the geckos take care of them. The cat does take out a fair few of them though but they are still around.
