I don't like it either, BUT, with anything new we really have to be patient and get through the teething problems, it must be a nightmare for Vicki and the team.
What I don't feel is right is under the state headings the ACT now have at least 20 new rescue groups in the ACT according to Pet Rescue, triple the number of listings and they are groups interstate, when you click on the group and then one of their animals it says this dog is in Queensland etc, I think it is because of the sub headings which are listed as alphabetically ie the ACT is at the beginning, I am hoping that this will change when it is up and running once the teething problems have been fixed.
It will cause Canberra people to just log out if they are looking at dogs that they would like to meet and then finding they are in SA/NSW/Qld it will be a real time waster.
I don't like change all that much but I understand that things do have to change as technology advances and apparently the old site just could not cope with the volume that is now generated by an increase in the amount of groups since the Clause 16(d) was introduced.
Also all animals dogs and cats, all 39 of them are in my name which is a real pain, I have enought to deal with just mine without dealing with cats (no offence to cat people) as well.

I think in her last post, garnali wrote: "Weston Creek vet have taken her as I have recently had KC at home here."
Thanks, I read that but was wondering if she has gone home as the vets have to send them to the pound if the owners don't come looking etc, just thought there might have been an update, but I will ring the vets tomorrow myself and let others know that are interested in knowing.

There is a black pom with white tips on back toes that went missing in Gilmore (not that far away) that a poster has just been sent around today. I'm sure its not it though? Dogs name is Reggie.
I would get her to the vet asap before they shut to check for chip - someone could be missing her terribly - the quicker you check, the quicker she will hopefully go home.
I would make the trip to the "after hours" vet in Fyshwick asap as Andrea says if she is chipped I am sure her owners would love to get her back now rather than sit at home worrying themselves sick wondering if she is alive or dead, especially if she has never been away from home overnight, please take her now rather than wait till morning.

Thank you Micheal...
Is always best to get it 'straight from the horses mouth'...
Only one question though.. Is there a long waiting list for surrenders & if a person presents to surrender a dog are they given contacts within rescue groups as options as well as the pound??
Thanks..
Garnali...the wait list hovers between four and six weeks and often is based on a case by case basis and need and urgency. yes, we recommend a range of alternate options that includes the pound, rescue groups, private advertising, social media etc.
Ok it looks like people are telling me porkies as I mentioned in my previous post I have been told 6 months by all who contact me, now I have it from the horses' mouth I am more informed.

I don't think that they take any dogs in for rehoming unless they are on their waiting list. Lots of dogs needing homes by the sounds, so maybe the 6 weeks has ballooned out considerably.
Only other "quick option" is the pound unless people want to rehouse themselves.
R
The RSPCA's waiting list is much longer than 6 weeks, try 6 months, a lot of people who ring me have been told there is a 6 month wait for surrendering a dog.

Keetamouse - the RH negative is just the negative bit. You would also be either A, B, AB or O. An O negative person would be O (Rh)D negative.
I have no idea what goes with what but was given a card decades ago with just RH negative on it, is good to know what you have listed.

I am RH negative, sorry

I was sent this today, I believe this dog is the dog who killed another dog while in foster care. Surely pound rounds have an obligation to disclose this information? she is now kenneled.
I have a favourite - Livia has been in and out of foster care now - through no fault of her own at all - she is such a loving girl and her eyes plead with me every time I visit to get her out of the kennel and take her home - if you have ot...her dogs they would need to be very placid - Livvy was used as a breeder and is sensitive to other dogs wanting to dominate and hurt her anymore - she is special. Beyond special she is beautiful from the very core of her being to the outside. Please think about what it's like to be cold at night - every night - and check with anyone you know who might be able to help her get the love, security and kindness and protection she so richly deserves for the rest of her life.

The Pom was coming to me but I am so full, I did not want this boy to not get out, am more than happy for him to go elsewhere, as dogmad has said he is going to PAWS so will presume that until I hear from dogmad.

Unfortunately no news , we are not giving up, an article will be in the Canberra Weekly on the 22nd, it is a way off and will be old news but we will still go ahead with it, I will see if I can get it in the Canberra Chronicle next week at least keep it alive.
She is with someone as there have been no sightings of her at all, we still suspect that she in the Giralang/Kaleen area.

Just had one of the other dogs do it as well, lost all his food from today and a tiny bit of blood, so may be the KC thing, I have had many dogs over the years have KC but nothing like this, I may still call the vet in the morning and will let you all know the outcome.

Could still be KC with a very irritated throat. How does the blood look, fresh red or old dark? I'd be trying the benedryl and honey until you get to the vet, it can't hurt. Good luck.
I am thinking a form of KC, the blood is the bright red, in little clots, so am thinking his throat is irritated although this boy doesn't have a cough, I am thinking that it is a stomach thing even though there is no running poohs.

It could be anything from an infection to worms, gastro or parvovirus. Probably a vet visit is called for in the morning. Maybe keep an eye on stools and keep fluids up until then? Fingers crossed its nothing serious.
Not worms, not gastro, certainly not parvo. It's isn't anything major.

One of my foster dogs has just vomited up white foam and blood in it, he did bring up his breakfast at around 2 today, and then about 3 times now the foam/blood, any suggestions on what it might be.
I have had at least 5 dogs with kennel cough the last week or so, he doesn't have it but thought it might be related.
Also I was in the vets yesterday and a guy had his dog in there after spending the weekend in the emergency vets on a drip from the same symptoms.
Any suggestions would be a help. He seems otherwise fine, he isn't lethargic he appears fine.

What chips do we use? Alot say read ISO chips (FDX-A and/or FDX-B) - does it need to read both or not these or ones in addition to this? What ones should it say it reads?
I don't use ebay,as I have a real problem putting my bank details on any thing via the internet, I need to be able to ring up and give my details over the phone, one of the links mentioned you can only purchase on line, will have to get my trusty firend to order for me.
