  1. I am practically jumping out of my skin! I wish i could go to sleep and just sleep through the next days so i can wake up on Sunday morning. Its going to be like Christmas! I know what you mean! I wish I could just sleep for the next week so that I can just wake up and have it be "puppy day" already!
  2. tez - I just had a look on the RSPCA site. He looks very cute. Shame its only a small pic though! You'll have post some better ones when you get him home  Love the name Lochie!
  3. Nushie - Are you excited??? I wish I only had 3 more sleeps left! From my understanding it is ok to socialise your pup with dogs that you know are vaccinated and well behaved. Just make sure you carry him from the car to the house. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!
  4. cornell - Welcome to this thread! How exciting getting a new goldie pup! I'm in the same boat as you. I've got an older girl and we had to think long and hard about whether getting a puppy was the right thing to do. But she has lost her spark lately and whenever she is with other dogs/puppies she gets that spark back. We get our new goldie pup in just over a week so I will have to let you know how she goes with him. A puppy shower sounds fun!!! And yes, I am suffering badly from puppy fever!
  5. Emery is your puppy home safe with you now?
  6. Hellogorgeous - That's great that you will be getting a pup soon! Frenchies are so cute. nic - I don't really know any children either, so I am going to have trouble exposing our puppy to kids. At least our breeder has kids, so they would have had some contact.
  7. Golden Retriever Labrador Siberian Husky Aussie Shepherd Samoyed German Shepherd German short-haired pointer Rough Collie Border Collie Airedale
  8. emery how exciting! Make sure you post lots of pics!
  9. We made the rubber snake move using the fishing line, then if she went any where near it yelled a big scary "leave! Snake!" . The idea was to make the "snake" a scary thing to her so that she would be wary of them. We did that every now and then for a while. I'm not in any way saying that it was a great technique, but it did the job for us!
  10. We used a rubber snake attached to fishing line to teach our dog to stay away from them. I didn't think it would work because I thought the dog would not associate a rubber snake and a real snake as being the same. But it did seem to do the job. She never gets close to snakes anymore, just barks at them from a distance.
  11. Poor Zoe . Hopefully she'll look where she's going now!
  12. Mumof3 - I agree, this is very much a lesson in patience! I don't think I am doing too well with it though lol. 2 weeks and 1 day to go for me....
  13. It sounds like I should be investing in a Kong...
  14. Lily123 - I'm not sure when we will find out which puppy is ours. It might not be for another week or 2. I thought not knowing would bother me, but now I am just looking forward to the surprise. We have done most of our shopping, but we still need a few more toys. I think my parents might contribute some toys though. They are excited about getting their first grandchild lol!
  15. Nic - Sounds like Oreo is going very well! We will be getting a boy
  16. Hi everyone. Hope you all had a good weekend! We went to see the puppies yesterday morning and they were just the cutest!!! We fell in love with one immediately. It was the strangest thing to feel that bond so quickly out of 6 possible pups. Unfortunately we may not be able to have him because someone on the list before us had not chosen yet. This meant that we had to pick our top 2 pups. Luckily my husband was paying more attention to the others than me (as I was too preoccupied with puppy #1), and he suggested the 2nd puppy, which I then had a cuddle with. I would be happy with either. All puppies were quite happy to be held and handled which was good. We were at the breeders for over half an hour but the time went soo quickly! And now I'm sure the next 3 weeks will go very slowly. The worst part was that we forgot to take any photos! I even had the camera in my pocket!
  17. Sounds like everyones pups are going really well! We will be going to the breeders tomorrow morning to choose our puppy. I'm so excited! I've read so many articles on how to choose a puppy from a litter, but I'm sure once I see them everything will go out the window. To those of you who had the opportunity of choosing your puppy, how did you do it?
  18. What about Bundy? Probably not very original but its the best I've got! Otherwise I liked BF's suggestions of Porter or Jim My husband and I had the same problem trying to think of a name. We couldn't agree on anything! I still think in his mind the puppy is going to be called Gomez lol. Oscar was the only name that we both went "yeah that's OK."
  19. We got our current dog (now 11) as a puppy when our previous dog was about 9. At the time we were not expecting him to live a long life because he seemed to be aging quite quickly. However, he proved us all wrong and ended up living to 17. We have no doubt that having another dog in the family gave him a new lease on life. They weren't even very close ( he hated her when she was a pup), but I think just the doggy company gave him something more to live for. We will soon be getting a Golden Retriever puppy, and I believe that our 11 year old will live longer because of it.
  20. We are meant to be going to see the breeder and puppies this coming weekend and find out which pup will be ours. I haven't heard from the breeder about what time or any details yet so I'm starting to freak out! I guess I'm just paranoid that we've been forgotten or something lol. I just can't wait to go see our little guy! It still doesn't feel real that we'll have puppy in less than 4 weeks.
  21. Georgia is adorable! Good luck with your first night. I hope everything goes smoothly for you
  22. I also find that my hands get irritated from handling raw chicken.... I thought it was just me! Maybe worth considering BF! (presuming that you handle raw chicken)
  23. Michelle, how exciting! I hope that the last 2 days don't go too slowly for you. Make sure you post lots of pics when she arrives
