  1. the employee could have said no..... Makes the stomach turn that he couldn't even offer those dogs a clean kill RIP furkids.......playing at the bridge.......
  2. Hi The Ark.....welcome to the world of breeding..... .....there should be a warning label While a lot of puppy people are very genuine there are the others out there that make life so frustrating Education is the key but even that can backfire on us as the people we really don't want getting our puppies learn to tick all the boxes. Telling them pups will be desexed usually ends the line of enquiry with these. I had an enquiry from a person who had a petshop pup that was from a"breeder" Turned out that it was a backyarder but the kicker was the pet shop telling these people that they came from xxxxx kennel. The fact that she was overcharged for a pup from parents that hadn't been health tested....she wasn't overly impressed that she got ripped off..... As for the papered pups........people really don't know what it means. A young lass I work with has a "purebred, papered" Staffy... err sorry it's a cross breed.
  3. run free Kassy.....plenty of balls, toys and new friends to play with You will have lots a wonderfull memories to remember her by Gayle
  4. Sorry to hear about your little girl. I'm sure she will have a lovely group waiting for her at the bridge. Will be thinking of you tomorrow
  5. ebay often have Vari kennels in NSW and QLD but I don't think I have seen one large enough for your boy. Hiring is usually easier and cheaper and then you can keep an eye out for a bargin.
  6. So sorry Danielle. It doesn't get any easier and I have had the feelings of guilt but it is part of the grieving process. We do the best we can for our furkids and we have the power to release them from pain. The decision you make isn't wrong if it gives your pet peace. Thinking of you at this tough time

    Flies

thanks everyone for the replies. I did find a product called Flyaway that I have dabbed on around the ears and face which appears to have worked today. This was after we cleaned those poor ears up and applied some antiseptic cream. Will look into getting some fly traps but with a poultry processing plant on one side and cattle in the paddock on the other it might take a while. Don't know why it is like this as we have been here 6 years and haven't seen the flies like this.... Michelle

    Flies

thanks Shell and Teebs unfortunatly it isn't the tips being bitten but the fold along the ear and the aussies are a coated breed. i should add they do run and are kenneled together so need something that isn't toxic. Michelle
  9. Hi all I am after a safe way of keeping flies away from the dogs ears.......they are having a wonderful feast. I have never had the problem before with the aussies. Michelle
  10. Yes, i did have an unplanned litter, by mistak. Not to stress both dogs are DNA tested (CEA, CL, TNS) and hip/elb done. Ozzie Has since been desexed. All the pups have now been desexed and are in amazing forever homes. Jason is doing outstanding and i couldnt be more proud of him. His is a reg Medical Assist Dog for an 8y.o boy with down syndrome. Kristen you appear to be somewhat confused about the health issues that need to be tested for the breeds of dogs you have. CL hasn't exactly been proven to be in aussies, and there is no test although research is ongoing, TNS is unheard of as far as I know. The DNA testing that I do currently is CEA, HC and MDR1......other DNA testing will be introduced on as needed basis. Hips/elbow xrays are a given but what about eye screens....these are required too. Michelle
  11. I had a Jim's dog wash franchise years ago when they first started up in SA. I can't say I was overly impressed with it as I ended up training the trainer to start with. Quotes for doing dogs were done over the phone and had nothing to do with the time required to do each dog eg. Matted Old English sheep Dog bath and groom out $20. Contracts were changed as issues cropped up not to the benefit of the franchisee. also had us travelling for miles. Things may have changed now but I wouldn't go there again. I would recommend a very good read of the fine print in the contract. Really think you would be better off setting up for yourself.
  12. I think the timing of the day was poor, there was an agility trial on today and being the day after the Royal show, the last thing most exhibitors feel like is spending another day answering stupid questions. I was stuffed from the Royal and it was a strugle to get there this morning. I would have enjoyed it a lot more had it not been right after the Royal. what a shame ......the first one 2 years ago was very well attended by all the doggy sports. Really need a weekend that has nothing on so as many people that can will participate. Michelle
