WOW what an effort, its been 5 hours since the first pup is born. Reba is worn out, but doing great with not vet intervention. :D
Congratulations to you all for a job well done :)

We have had a very textbook delivery today. 4 fawn boys & 1 fawn girl. The 5th caught us by surprise though as the ultrasound showed 3 definite and 1 maybe.
Mum & puppies are all doing well.

Hankdog, your not the first person to say that about Cooper.
Puglodge, my guys are not a breed as such but rather two. Poodle x English Cocker. Cooper (big boy) is a second gen cross so he is a bit different than the other three.
Thanks tlc. They are stunning dogs. I can't wait to see more photos. I really enjoy seeing how happy and bonded they are as a family.

Just had a look at the Cottee's product list and can't find any with 35% or greater raspberry? They have an apple and raspberry with 2% and a raspberry 'flavour' one (no raspberry content) but I can't find any others. Wondering if they still make one?
Hi
I just googled "cordial 35% raspberry" & found Golden Circle have this percentage in their cordials.

TBH he should NOT need any antiseptic on there ... betadine, cetrigen, etc. he would have had a long lasting shot during the surgery .... if he has a harness..walks would be good :) keep him busy and then he will settle and sleep ....
LARGE beef bones .. leg bones almost as big as him for him to slurp on will maybe help as well :)
The problem with anything placed on fresh stitched wounds is that liquid can seep down the actual stitches, thru the holes ... and may cause problems ..as it is mostly meant to be ON the skin, and not under it .
I have decided to stick with the Calendula tea and Aloe Vera gel. They are safe to take internally so I think he will be okay (if they get through the holes where the stitches are).
He has a Puppia harness and I bought them enough lamb shanks to last the weekend. And he is quite happy just sitting out in the sun.
I'm taking him back to the vet tomorrow for a post-op check up.
What a wonderful surrogate mum you are. Good on you for all the care you are giving Oscar. He is lucky to have you looking after him.

We put socks rolled up under the whelping box blanket/bedding. This creates a lumpy surface & encourages the puppies to use their legs & muscles.

Before: newspaper & towels
During: newspaper & towels
After: newspaper, drybed 2/3, heat pads 1/3 enclosed in a pillowcase that is sewn onto a bunny rug. The bunny rug covers the dry bed. I have a few of these on the go & change it 2-3 times a day. I set the box up like this so my puppies don't crawl under the bedding. It works for me.

Well I stayed with her last night, and eventually she just went to sleep, however this morning she appeared to pee like at least half a litre, I'm inclined to think it was actually her waters breaking (I doubt her bladder could hold this much at the moment) however everything suggests that waters breaking is more of a slow leak, so either she is peeing for Australia in the Olympics or I am over thinking everything. You know how when yo are looking for the signs it seems that everything fits them in a way lol.
She seems to be sleeping now, breathing fairly heavily, but my mind is wondering if she is actually having mild contractions, gosh this is all so complicated!
Every day I learn more that I don't know!
Thanks all
Ruth
Did the wee have that smell like amniotic fluid? That is usually a good indication. My girl has started labour today and I can smell it on her. Good luck. You may have to join the June thread.

I have the same puppy pee mat holder as the one in the link below and our puppies have outgrown it.
http://www.madaboutpets.com.au/puppi-trainer-disposable-mat-holder-1.html
It did the job for our little guys and stopped them playing with the mats and just using them for what they were intended for.
I've scrubbed and sterilised the thing and it is like new. See attached picture
$15 pickup from Virginia in Queensland. If can't pickup but want it, let me know and I can probably post it at your cost. It is pretty light so I can't see it costing too much to post.
Hi
Pm sent to you.
