  1. word of warning about this company do an internet search of all the people who have either not got their orders or it has taken months to arrive ;) there are also a few threads here if you want to do a search. Cheaper is sometimes not the best option if you dont get your products. I get mine from petproductsontheweb they have never let me down wow really that's a shame for some people, me, my mum and my best friend have been buying products from this company for awhile now, and have never had a problem.
  2. Pet food 24/7 They do charge for postage, but their product costs are so low, it still works out cheaper. $61 I think for a 6 pack of the medium size dog one.
  3. OMG this vet sounds like a reall a55 to me. Must be very fustrating having to deal with him, especially when you really have very limited options. Good luck with it all, fingers crossed this little dog, can get a second chance.
  4. I feel your concerns. I'm off on a family holiday in december. My boy will be 10 months old then. I have 2 children and he is my 3rd, well that's the way I see it anyway. I'm like you, I have booked him into a kennel, that is seems to be really good. The couple that runs it, seems lovely. Each dog has it own concrete run attached to an enclosed sleeping quarters, then once a day they get let out into a grassed area for play time with other small dogs. So all seems to be well. But I still can't help but worry about him. I guess, some of us will worry about the what if's no matter what. I'm lucky that my mums dog will be staying with my dog to help him with the situation, sharing the same kennel. But at the end of the day, (hopefully) once they are home, they will forget being seperated from you. Well that's what I'm telling myself anyway. Fingers crossed for you, you can enjoy your holiday.
  5. Not sure if this is allowed. But I would love for some recommendations on boarding kennels around the brisbane area. Or help me to choose a good one. Normally my parents would doggysit for us and we do the same for their dog. But we are going on a family holiday in december and will need to put both dogs into a boarding kennel for 5 days. And to be honest, I'm so worried for my boy. I know he will be o.k, but I really don't want him to get all upset and put out. I know he will to a degree but I want to make sure it's minimized. He will be 10 months old come december, and I want him and his girlfriend (my mums maltese) to be housed together, as they would much prefer that, and I think it will make it easier for the both of them. So I would love to her some suggestions or recommendations, please, thanks.
  6. wow they are adorable, congrats. Glad she is doing well on the GM
  7. I'm very curious to know if you can feed a dog dry cat food? While I was looking at dry cat food the other day, I noticed all the ingredients are pretty much the same as the dogs kibble, just different levels of protein and fats etc. The main difference I found, was the cat food was much higher in protein around the 40% and less fat around the 5-10%. I know this is essential for a cats diet, but I'm thinking it might also be benefical for dogs, as animal protein levels seem to be the key factor when choosing between dog kibbles. So I'm curious, would you or have you ever fed your dog dry cat food?
  8. Thank you very much. I'm not sure how to post a photo to be honest :p What type of diet do you feed your guys? I really don't want to change over, but I guess I will if it's better for him. I have been looking at that Bio5 semi dry food or the Artemis. But he loves the Nutro and it has helped with his skin, so not really wanting to change. And I would definitely to a gradual change, although I remember when I changed him onto the nutro, he would just eat around the old stuff little bugger.
  9. He is fed Nutro puppy chix and rice. I'm reluctant to change, as it's the only kibble I have found that he seems interested in eating. I have thought about Artemis, but have about 9kg of Nutro left. So maybe I might look into changing once it's all gone. Hopefully by then, a local supplier will stock it.
  10. Yes, she took 2 samples from both ears. And she even showed me what the yeast looks like under the microscope. She said a in a healthy ear, the balance of yeast would be about 6 on a slide, my dog had much much more, maybe 100ish. I have stopped the oral ab's and continued with the drops, and I'm seeing an improvement already in his ear, so that's good. We still have 10 more days of treatment, so hopefully he will be back to his normal self soon. I don't think it would be food related, but will discuss this with the vet at his check up next week, and see what she thinks.
  11. Yep, she wants to see him again in 7 days to make sure the infection is clearing up. The drops are to be used for 14 days, she won't charge for this. His ears to get very waxy and very very hairy, maybe this is why those who have seen him, recommend plucking. Thanks for all your help
  12. This definitely makes sense to me, I will talk to the groomer and the vet about what they think. He has hasn't vomitted since last night, which is a relief. But still not eating, but still drinking. I must admit I'm worried about the poor little fellow.
  13. They are so cute ;) I haven't asked this vet, the vet we have been seeing prior to this ear problem, wasn't available. But the vet nurse was the first person to tell me, to keep the hair in his ears under control and that was when he was 8 weeks old. So I'm confused now. Maybe his ears are just way to hairy and plucking is a must, I'm not sure. But will definitely talk to them about in the morning. Thanks.
  14. The drops are thick, but we manage to get them in there. He loves the rubbing afterwards, much feel so good on his sore little ear. He is a poodle/schanuzer mix. What type of dogs do you have? Everyone has told me to make sure we remove all the hair at all times. But what you say does make sense. Will talk to the vet about it tomorrow. Thanks.
  15. Thank you for helping. Should I stop giving it to him? Or should I try again in the morning. I'm curious, I read the booklet that came with the drops and it said that one of the ingredients was an antibiotic. So I was wondering why he would need to take the amoxclav as well???? I'm sure she has her reasons, but I'm curious.
  16. My 6 month old male puppy, had a very red right ear. It was clearly bothering him, so I took him to the vet, who said it is an infection, yeast and bacterial infection. She prescribed him surolan ear drops 10 drops total per day and Amoxyclav 250mg per day. Anyway about 15minutes after I had given him the Amoxyclav, he started vomitting, about 6 times in total. Started of being his food then by the end just bile. My poor little boy. Can the Amoxyclav be causing the vomitting? He is asleep now, I keep checking on him. He hasn't vomitted for about an hour now. But I'm worried. If he is still vomitting in the morning, I will take him to the vet asap. I should add, I think the ear infection my caused by the hair in his ears. My regular groomer had to go in for an operation, so I took him to a local groomer for a touch up, ear plucking etc until she was well. Anyway the next time I took him back to his regular groomer she said there was no way they touched his ears at all, as they were chockers. She told me to clean them daily, to help avoid an infection, but I guess we were too late. Does anyone know if this medicine can cause vomitting? Or could it be the ear infection? He has been lethargic lately as well and not eating much at all, but the vet told me this would be from the ear infection. If someone could help with advice or opinions this would be great.
  17. Yes, I was going to bring that point up as well. Is there a greater chance when you own a bearded dog like a mini schnauzer, who often has the raw remains stuck in their beard after a feast?! I would think so, my boy is half mini schnauzer, so that was why I was initially worried, but have come to think, if I wipe him down after eating, that it should minimize the chance even more.
  18. Can I hijack and ask your hesapandabear, if the nutro is all you feed, or do you offer mince or meat or bones as well. Thanks. Sunnyflower, my 7 month old puppy, has been on chix and rice puppy for about 6 weeks now, and it's the only kibble he has shown interest in eating as well. But I do give it to him with chix carcuss mince. I think it was 2 days ago, I noticed him eating grass then do the whole vomit bile business. I just put it down to an upset tummy, as both my kids have recently had a viruses. Anyway, I haven't noticed him do it again, but he has been really sleepy today, really not himself, so I'm thinking it might be a bug or something, and will keep him under a close watch over the next day or two, in case I need to take him do the doggy quack.
  19. Well I'm glad I'm not alone when I first thought what a load of crap. I think common sense is the preventative and treatment once again. Thanks everyone for your input
  20. Raw is fine. You can either add small amounts to their daily feedings or just a bulk amount once a week. Whichever you or they prefer I guess. Good luck.
  21. Offal is also recommended, from memory I think it's roughly 10% of their diet or it may be 5% I'm sure someone will be able to tell you the exact amount. In the form of heart, liver, tripe, kidney etc. When I made my own I found Woolies to be reasonable priced, but I was only feeding a small 6kg dog, so you may want to source it from a cheaper supplier for 2 big dogs Maybe adding a Omega Blend could be of benefit as well. Great for bigger dogs joints, and also skin and coat. There are a few online stores that sell big bottles (I think as big as 5L), so this would be a cheaper option as well. I bet your babies are big beauties :D
  22. I totally agree. And must admit I was like her as well when I was young, and their is nothing wrong with me now, well DH would probably agrue otherwise :D Thanks for our reassurance.
  23. hehe that's so cute, she says it's because she loves her so much. Do your dogs eat Raw? I first thought, what a load of crap. But after thinking about it, I thought it does sort of make sense. But then, I guess, like Poodlefan said, there would be the same chance, from other things. Honestly, I think there might be more of a chance of a selmonella issue, from a fast food outlet than our dog. But I still thought it might be best to get some other opinions.
  24. Hi, My dog currently gets raw chicken/bone mince with his dinner. A friend of mine recently told me, that she was told by a vet, that there is a chance, after a dog consumes raw chicken that, if the dog licks a child there is a high chance of selmonella poisening. Does this sound extreme to anyone else, or should I be worried? I have 2 young children, that love to play, cuddle and kiss our dog. I have seen them in the past, coped the odd 'tonguey', but we have been told them "don't let him lick you in the mouth" but I know it sometimes happens, not often, but I'm sure it still does occasionally. So, I now worried and concerned that I should consider cooking the mince first. Any thoughts regarding this, would be of big help, thanks.
  25. oh phewwww Thanks for confirming that I think I will definitely change over in 4 months time after the sentinel has run out.
