  1. I just received an email from the owners of BW dog coats..... "Thanks for your email - yes we do ship to Australia, although there is an international shipping charge of an extra $20--.......... hope this helps.. best, Sharon Couzin" ;)
  2. I liked the look of the collars on the dogs neck, and the design ideas she had for stopping male dogs from weeing on their coats. The last winter dog coats I bought were thermomaster. They were excellent, durable (they lasted 10+ years until the arrival of the new pup last winter who chewed off the straps, while the dog was wearing it!! LOL) , showerproof and warm, BUT the male dog because he was so long, the drop in the coat was also long and he would wee on it all the time when he cocked his leg!! (He was a ridgeback) So a design to help stop this appeals to me.
  3. I was googling yesterday looking for cool coats and came upon this site BW dog coats It is a US site but they had some great looking coats and some interesting bed options for dogs. I thought the pita bed looked pretty cool, as did the design of their warmer coats. It could give you some ideas for what to do for your dog to keep him warm
  4. http://www.stylishk9.com sell the chamois ones. Thanks Sway, I had googled chamois dog coats previously but this web address hadn't come up. It looks great!! Regards Huntia
  5. I was at a show on the weekend where one of the exhibitors used a cool coat made from chamois. It seemed to work really well, her dogs seemed cool and comfortable while many were not. The exhibitor got them from Erskine park. Does anyone know of anywhere else you can get these coats from, besides Erkine Park?
  6. Mav 1, Did you get a chance to make it to a dog show on the weekend? Huntia
  7. oh my god, how horrific..... and other dogs being made to watch....it's just awful!!! i have no more words that are printable
  8. Thanks for this info - they both sound great! I just did some googling and it looks like the hounds and utility dogs aren't until the middle of the program. It doesn't give time slots, just the order of judging. So as someone who hasn't been to a show before, how long (approx) does each group take to be judged before they move onto the next group? This the ad from the gazette As far as I am aware all the classes will start at the same time of 8 am, and it depends on the number of dogs entered as to what time the individual breeds will be on. (In the individual classes they go in alphabetical order of breeds eg beagles are on before borzois etc) Someone who is going might be able to give you a better estimate. ;) the sydney kennel club inc 2011 summer championship show bill spilstead complex for canine affairs , 44 luddenham rd, erskine park sunday 6 february , 2011 Classes to be judged: 1,2,3,4,5,10 & 11 (dogs & bitches) Enties to: Mrs C Mann, PO Box 85, Glenorie 2157 Ph (02) 4573 6614 No calls after 9.00 pm please Extreme Weather Ph 02 9627 2230 Cheques made payable to: The Sydney Kennel Club Inc JUDGES Mr J Forbes (NSW) Basset Hounds, General Specials Mrs C Baker (NSW) Toys Mr R J Ellem (NSW) 6-12 mths S/stakes-Bitches, Terriers Mr R F Marshall (NSW) 6-12 mths S/stakes-Dogs, Gundogs Mr J Walker (NSW) Hounds (less Basset Hounds) Mrs K Gregory (NSW) Working Dogs (less German Shepherd Dogs) Mrs F Stokes (NSW) German Shepherd Dogs Mrs S Markatony (NSW) 3-6 mths S/stakes-Dogs, Utility Miss A Cowin (NSW) 3-6 mths S/stakes Bitches, Non Sporting Order of Judging As per Schedule Judging Commences 8.00 am
  9. And, BTW, I would love to go to some shows. I live in Sydney, and I've had a little look at some of the club websites and they all list the Sydney Easter show as the next show on the calender, but surely there is somethign before this?! I just had a quick check of the Dogs NSW gazette and I think there is a show on at Erskine park this Sunday 6th of Feb. It starts at 8 am. I am not sure what time the Dobes or Ridgies would be on at. Another plug for Ridgies....There is a Ridgeback Specialty show on Sunday 10th April at Hillsborough which is in Newcastle. If you are still thinking about ridgbacks it would be well worth the trip!!
  10. Hi Mav 1, I agree with what everyone has said so far. I have a 8 month male old ridgie pup and a 12 year old female ridgie, and I said goodbye to a wonderful male ridgie 2 years ago. After having the pleasure of being owned by 3 wonderful dogs I will say that 99% of Ridgies are aloof around strangers but than you get one like my 8 month old pup who is far from aloof, he loves everyone, wants to say hello to everyone, be it human or dog and cries when denied the chance!! While I find it lovely (most of the time), it is certainly a different attitude to strangers than my first 2 Ridgies have/had. Before you decide which way to go (Dobes certainly are gorgeous, but still they are not a Ridgie!! LOL I'm not biased jj) start to visit breeders or find other people who own these dog breeds and spend some time talking to them and getting to know their dogs. Each and every dog has their own personality so spend time researching the breed and breeders to find the personality type you are after. (I hope that makes sense :D ) Good luck and I hope you find the exact dog you are after. DSCF3569 by nicoledwyer22, on Flickr DSCF3574 by nicoledwyer22, on Flickr DSCF3571 by nicoledwyer22, on Flickr
  11. I thought the same thing about the water squirter when I saw him use the air horn. No he didn't use a water squirter, but you would have to think it would be a better option for everyone's ears than an air horn!!
  12. Ok, select the photo you want to post in Flickr, and click on the 'Share this' option above the photo. Click on the 'Grab the HTML/BBCode' bit. Choose the size of photo you want to post from the drop down box and then make sure you have the BBCode button selected. Then copy the link in the box and paste it into your post on here. Hope that makes sense Thanks i will give it a try right after breakfast DSCF3574 by nicoledwyer22, on Flickr yeah after a bit of fiddling it worked!!! thank you thank you

  14. Hi, I'm new to using flickr to upload and display my photos. Is anyone able to tell/help me how to put photos from flickr onto a post so that everyone can see them not just as a link? I tried but was not succesful, and for some reason I can no longer see the attachment button when I post Thank you
  15. Hmmm sorry I haven't put any photos up of my boy. At the time of last post I realised I didn't have any recent ones, and now that I do, I can't find the attachment button!!! Here is a link to some recent photos of my 7 month old ridgie and my 12 year old female ridgie. click on this link for my puppy's photo's!

  17. Eucalyptus oil has worked for us. it has stopped a repeat offence of couch munching!!! must be reapplied frequently though. My boy hates the smell.
  18. The ebay has furminators are good value - I have one. A good warm bath before to loosen the coat and then a good brush after dry to get the dead coat out. Thanks using a rubber brush simmiliar to the zoom groom, the warm bath, and using the furminator when he was dry worked a treat. :D Thank you to everyone that gave me some advice.
  19. holy crap! If you get a chance over the next few days can you list them please? ETA: I am usually the one around Brisbane, so 9 is huge there were few at Hillsborough/Newcastle during November.
  20. I know what you mean. I don't think I would get much rest if I let the couch chewer sleep inside, he also has been known to chew a shoe or 2!! We keep all shoes in a plastic box/crate underneath the pew in the family room. this has only happened since the arrival of the couch chewer, watch out anyone who doesn't put there shoes in the box, because he considers them fair game and boy is he quick!!
  21. Hi. I am in Gloucester and I would like to do obedience training with my 6 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback. Does anyone have any recommendations for one in an hour radius of Gloucester ( eg Taree, Wingham, Forster, Raymond Terrace, Dungog)? Thank you
  22. Hi. Just an update on the couch chewing pooch ;) Eucalyptus oil applied every few days has worked a treat for keeping the puppy from chewing the couch. He hates the smell and when I reapply he moves at least 2 metres away from the offending area!! So anything he looks sideways at get the eucalyptus oil treatment :D . There has been no more chewing on the couch for over 2 weeks now !!! And to top it off the quote to fix it wasn't as bad as I was expecting!! yeah When would you expect the teething stage to finish? He is nearly 6 1/2 months now and it is almost like he needs a dummy. He always seems to have something in his mouth. Some he chews up, others he just carries around. At the moment I am just glad I have found something that works for discouraging him from chewing undesirable things.....like the couch
  23. Thank you, he does seem to be feeling a bit better. no vomiting thank goodness.
  24. Feeling very sad and tired this morning, as I wont be able to make it up the mountain to Walcha today. The car was packed, dog was washed, kids breakfast and lunches were packed, only to have my poor 2 1/2 yr old be sick all night. Poor boy. He is much better this morning, but not well enough to take out for the day. So I wish everyone the best for today and I would love to hear the results for the Ridgies especially baby puppy and minor puppy dogs. Good luck everyone I hope it is a lovely day.
