  1. Excellent result :) Lovely to know you have someone you can count on for good customer service and that will do all they can to help.

    Wayrod was absolutely amazing!

I have truly never come accross anyone more helpful.

The mating had been planned for 1 year. Stud dog carefully chosen; (stud dog lives approimately 350 KM SOUTH of Melbourne) I planned to drive bitch to stud dog at the right time.

The bitch has been like clockwork with her seasons, till now.

Bitch was not due for season till 1 1/2 months from now,

Co owners/carers, carefully planned to drive her to Melbourne 2 weeks BEFORE expected season was expected to begin.

Owners went away for 10 days overseas. Arrived home to CANBERRA, Friday night after 18 hour flight & housesitter/Mother In Law, (not a dog person not a breeder), mentions she "thinks the bitch has been in season for about a week".

Hopefully with Wayrod help alls well & will end well

  2. CC,

Have also sent you an PM.

You can only fly freight animals out of Canberra Airport on Qantas/Australian Air Express. Unfortunately AaE @ Canberra Airport is closed now (2100pm) and reopens at 0800AM for bookings.

Do people in Canberra have a crate? or access to a crate?

The people in Canberra may be able to get on flight over weekend, although restricted flight times exist on weekends. Flights with freight animals normally have to conclude by 1500PM.

Send me a PM if you need assistance.

    WAYROD

You have saved the day! You are my "hero"

Thank you for going WAY (pun intended), beyond the call of duty, to do what I was told by the airlines etc., was "impossible"

Thanks so very much, for the enormous amount of assistance you gave me to get the Bitch on a flight from Canberra to Melbourne this weekend

    You are a magician.

I breed 1-2 litters a year & often, pups fly to new homes, which are interstate. ANY time in future, if I need a Pet Care & Transport service you will be 1st on my list of who to call & who to reccommend to others

To the rest of people who offered ideas & assistance. Thank you so much!!!! I intend to name a pup after each of you.

I have also sent you 2 private E Mails

They do not have a crate

The circumstances that created this urgent situation were unexpected, as I am usually very well organized

    Thank you so very much

I recived your message & Private E Mail at midnight

I would be most grateful for your assistance

I will try to ring you at 8AM Saturday

  4. After waiting many months, a bitch, who lives in Canberra

is now, suddenly in season & is apparently ready to be bred very soon, to a dog here in Melbourne

Apparently, "making a booking & flying a dog out of Canberra on a weekend,is impossible", according to Virgin Blue Qantas Both said no one is available at Australian Air Express to take a booking until Monday morning

    Neither will accept direct boookings.

The phones at Jet pets, Dogtainers & Pet Express are not answering & we have been told that no one will be available till Monday, at the earliest to take a booking

No one is available to drive the bitch

    Any ideas?

  5. G'day

I am writing a short, introductory article on RALLY O. for a pet magazine

I have been asked to include a couple of photos, that show a couple of different breeds actually performing in Rally O.

It would be useful to have the Rally Station sign showing in the photo & the dog doing the whatever the sign says

I am not getting paid for the article

IF you would be willing to send me a photo with permision to use it, please send it DIRECT to me at [email protected]

I need the photos in jpg format as an E Mail attachment

    THANK YOU!!!!

  7. I'm looking for a contacts trainer as my garden is too small for an AFrame (the ones like a mini AFrame). Does anyone know where I could get one in SE Melbourne (preferably second hand as there are waiting lists to get stuff made)?

I am in SE suburbs near KCC

I have a 2 year old used contact trainer for sale

However I paid ALOT for it & therefore I will not sell it for less than $350.00

  9. At the Melbourne Royal Trial today there were VERY strong gusty windy conditions, which made the UD seek back & scent discrimination exercises VERY hard

The noise from kids screaming, roller coaster, clapping form Conformation rings, men standing right on the edge of with small kids on their shoulders eating ice cream & hot dogs OMG It was the most extremely noisy & highly distracting environment I have ever trialled in .

    MY BRAGS

DUAl CH. (O.CH.) GiDay Violet Crumble RE ADX JDX ET

    "VIOLET" won 1st place UD

CH. Cosalta G'Day Roxy UD RE AD JDX ET

    "ROXY" won 2nd place UD

VIOLET won 1st Place In Open Bitches with 196 Points

ROXY won 2nd Place Open Bitches with 193 points

VIOLET won the run off for BEST IN TRIAL /WINNER OF WINNERS

ROXY only needs 1 more Qualifying Pass over 185 for her Obedience Champion title

Roxy is just 3 years old & attained her NOVICE title just 1 year ago when she won Novice at the 2011 Melbourne Royal

AFTER she gets the final O.CH. Pass from UD I will train for UDX

I LOVE the PROCESS of training!

  10. Thank you all very much.

  11. TASSIE I am very happy for you & RORY. I think that you showed great patience & good sportsmanship with RORY

This has now paid off. WELL DONE!!

My own most recent brag, is ROXY, got 2 additional UD Passes &as well as a Highest Score In Trial, in the afternoon at Melton this weekend It was VERY windy & very gusty. It made the scent discrimination more difficult & the dogs had to work hard with the scent being blown around.

I want to start teaching ROXY UDX , AFTER ROXY gets her O.CH., whenever that happens.

    As a future trainer of a hopefully, eventual UDX dog;

I would be interested in hearing more about ANY UDX Rule changes. Based on listening to comments/suggestions, from numerous people, over the past year,, I now hope a couple of the UDX exercises are modified/changed or eliminated I would venture a guess that the latter is probably not going to happen?

Please give details if you have them

    Thanks!!

  12. I have been feeding a diet consisting mainly of raw chicken wings & necks since 1985. The diet was 1st suggested to me by a now retired Vet, due to my dogs at that time, having tooth tarter & stomach gas

In 27 years, I have never again had problems with my dogs teeth nor indigestion.

The FRESHNESS of the chicken is crucial

I buy very fresh chicken at a wholesaler, Camaroto Poultry, on Thompsons Road, 1 KM East of KCC Park

I pay $24.00 for a 15 kilo box.... WAY cheaper per kilo, than even supermarket dog food!

I then freeze it in portions ready to thaw in the fridge the night before

ALL my pups start on necks at 4 weeks of age

I also feed a COOKED LOAF of carrot, sweet potato ,eggs, white potato, fish, & pumpkin. I add plain gelatin to make a solid loaf that I can cut

The few times I have bought chicken at the large supermarket chains, it smelled after a day in the fridge

I have never ever found this to be true when buying from the wholesalers

Vets, have a vested interest in selling $100.00 + a bags of dog food They make commission

Almost all dry dog food consists mainly of grains, Grains of any kind are NOT a natural part of the canine diet

IF you have a breed with a deep narrow chest, grains can contribute to Gastric Torsion/Bloat

It is not the dryness it is the grains, beet pulp corn wheat, which makes up most of a bag of dry food JMHO FWIW

  13. @bianca.a - make sure you find us and say hi.

@Canine Coach :D I used to do the Gippsland Riviera 3 day in June - haven't done it for years. I love those clubs.

Yeah - go for broke. I will be entering Adv B, and Excellent - which will only be A if the kids don't finish their RE the week before at our trial - the first one we've had since Albury. If they do - have to get their title application in on the Monday before the Bairnsdale trial, and ask the Trial Secretaries for a move-up to Excellent B. As long as my application has gone in, that should work -it does in Agility. The rule that Melody has quoted says "eligible to compete", which is the same wording as in agility - doesn't talk about entries, so I'm hoping.

Will be good to catch up with you. :)

Please note there is no Club address listed on their flier

The correct address to mail entries is as follows:

Bairnsdale & District Dog Obedience Club

    P. O. Box 335

    Bairnsdale Vic. 3875

  14. @Sue ... Kirra and I usually do 8 runs a day at a double agility trial .. Although I keep saying I'm getting too old for that :-) . How much we actually do will depend a bit on the weather. How it won't be too hot.

@bianca.a ... yes the dogs and I are booked into Eagle Point Cottages. Hope they're nice. By all means come and have a look. I'll be the older woman with greying hair tied back..and 2 black and white Border Collies ..looking frazzled :-)

    Hi Tassie

Both Morwell & Bairnsdale know how to put on great events!

It will be nice to meet up again.

Hope we get a chance to chat!

I plan to stay at dog friendly cabins near Sale which is approximately, 1/2 way between Bairnsdale & Morwell

    About to send my entries

    I am contemplating

IF it will be too tricky for me to enter Obedience with 1 dog & the early Rally & both the later RALLY O. Advanced B & Excellent B .....with two dogs ?

  15. Has anyone else entered Northern Double Obedience trial on sundat Sept. 9th?

I sent a self addressed stamped envelope for my receipt but it has not been returned

When I E mailed the Club my E Mail bounced back

When I tried ringing the Trial Sec. on 2 occasions, the recoding says to "call back later"

There is no option of leaving a message on their phone

    Has the trial been cancelled?

  16. I would be delighted if Jazz & Zipadee's owners got involved with their dPoodles, in any of the performance sports

The dogs will love it & the owners will have fun too

I stay in touch with most of the owners & hope to hear from Jazz & Zipadee's again soon!

I would be grateful for any updates/news you might have too

Please feel free to e mail me privately any time

  17. Yay Spartan. I love it when the unusual breeds do well, especially those that the ignorant call stupid.

I assisted in training a Borzoi, in USA, to O.CH about 15 years ago

Form follows function & all "good temperament" & TYPE of intelligence, is breed specific. The Borzoi, was not "stupid". She was super smart. However, for hundreds of years the breed was selected to course/chase. Pups who inherited, the temperament to stay close and work cooperatively, were culled. The temperament to be very sensitive to moving objects as well as to be independent & run long distances in pursuit of moving objects, was selected for

This dog was very difficult to train as we were working against her inherited, breed specific ,temperament

    HIGHLY intelligent!

She was still an "Obedience" person's nightmare

We used prey drive for rewards

The silver Standard Poodles & I had an exhausting weekend but a happy one

We gained 2 passes in UD, that count towards Roxy's O.CH., & 2 Rally Excellent titles

Please note that all errors in Rally O & U.D. were handler caused.

When will I learn, that running 1/4 KM straight out of a UD ring, into a Rally Excellent ring that I have rapidly walked 1X, is not the best thing to do (for me)

Having admitted that.... I think several RALLY O. signs/stations, are ridiculously ambiguous, cryptic, & un necessarily confusing to the handler

Where the HALT icons are placed on the signs, is only one example of many ambiguities

The signs need a total revamp as to make the challenge of RALLY O., THE EXERCISE instead of a struggle for the handler to interpret the oddly written signs correctly.

In addition, as far as Novice Class goes, IMHO, as handlers can coax encourage, pat, praise, their dogs, a tight lead on more than 2 occasions, or ANY harsh command, OR any intentional jerk on the lead should be an instant automatic NQ JMHO

  18. What wonderful news, CC. You must be so thrilled to have bred such a clever kid. It's a tribute to you as well as to his handler.

    Hi Tassie & Hi Sparky

Thanks to both of you for your kind words

I can not think of much that makes me happier than seeing one of the pups I bred happily working & doing well for the handler

Most of the credit goes to the owner/handlers that do such positive training with this very sensitive highly intelligent energetic breed

I consider myself very lucky when I find such wonderful owners

  19. Karen Bradford & her 2 year old, delightfully happy, silver Standard Poodle, GiDay Bluegum Joey TDX, "JOEY", attained their Tracking Champion, (T.CH.) title this past week end, at IDogs Victoria Tracking Trial at Inverleigh

Karen is too modest to brag, but as Joey's breeder, of course, I am thrilled enough to brag on her behalf
