  1. Very well worded Yellowgirl. How we respond on Petrescue is important. One can never afford to be anything but pleasant in an email as i have known of memberships that have been suspended without any warning. I too have had a few emails from people wanting discounts. Now getting emails from people wanting to know if its pickup or delivery to them. Thats without speaking to me or meeting the dog first.
  2. They said that as she was a surrender & due straight away she was not eligible. Only dogs that are not due can be placed through the free desexing programme via expression of interest where you have that option on the form you submit. This dog therefore could only be sold undesexed. I did not want her being purchased by a backyard breeder. When i got her home i noticed she still had a disk attached to her collar with her old owners phone number.
  3. Last week i purchased a female dog from Blacktown pound . She cost me $273 . She was not desexed or vaccinated . As this dog was a surrender she was due straight away.and I was told that she was not eligable to be put through the free desexing programme . The price included registration and microchipping. The registration fee of $150 is not refundable when i have her desexed.
  4. What a fantastic outcome for Emily. To the rescuers who never gave up on her & saw this through thankyou. I have followed this dogs journey since this thread was first started. .& it looks like Emily is now finally home.
  5. It is a shame that most of Jo's photos do not make it onto dol for the urgent dogs on the R/F thread.. Maybe it is too time consuming.
  6. I love the way that Jo captures the animals. I am sure that my foster dogs have found forever homes due to the awesome photos that Jo has taken of them. Her love of the animals shows in her photos. It is like you can see their soul. The gift that Jo has is her gift to the many animals on death row. We love you Jo. xx
  7. This thread is proving very interesting reading. I have 5 rescue Chihuahua cross puppies atm . Their mother was heavily pregnant when she arrived here. She delivered 5 healthy puppies 10 weeks ago. 3 female & 2 male. The heaviest pup is 1.2 kg & the lightest is 750 grams. I have just weaned them from their mum & i would not dream of having them desexed any time soon. They will be desexed before they go to their forever homes. The 2 males will be desexed first . They are larger than the females & my vet has stated that in his opinion the males can be desexed earlier than the females as the surgery is not as involved. I am already nervous about them having general anaesthetic as i know the Chi can be prone to complications.. My adult rescue male Chi did not handle the anaesthetic very well at all when he had patella correction surgery 3 months ago. Thankfully he was ok. That is very sad about the small puppy who died & i am sure very upsetting for all involved with his rescue.
  8. I think a bit like you Tweety. If you do see a dog that tugs at the old heart strings you can take the dog knowing that you have a bit put away for this from your dogs that have been more rehomable due to being younger, cuter unusual,& so on. The latest rescue that i have taken on is one of these dogs who will need a lot of work. Does that make me a total sucker?? perhaps but i have committed to her & sometimes there is always going to be a dog like this that screams at you take me!! Taking many dogs at once that need a lot of vetwork is not something feasable for a small rescue but the rewards you get from the odd oldie is more than worth it. Marketing the dogs is another area that is very important to me as the more you can do for them to get out there to attract the right home the better . I see dogs sitting on Petrescue month in month out with poor photos & very little about the dog. That is sad as some of these are golden oldies who were at my local pound 12 months ago.
