  1. I tried to order but they're sold out, no more product for 4 weeks or so.
  2. Weird that it would just be the testicles, mind you they're rather sensitive (so, I hear). Aloveen may assist otherwise I guess it's back to the Vets. Just as a side note, it doesn't have to be sunny to get burned, overcast days damage the skin more according the skin specialists.
  3. Hiya, Apologies for bringing up an older thread. We've started Dante on this product as a food trial as we don't have a novel meat protein to try. Here's some info on it for those who may be interested: * This product was developed for sensitive dogs with food intolerance. * Whether the amino acids come from animal or vegetable protein, the molecular structure is exactly the same. Dispite the fact that the dog is naturally carnivrous, the indentical nutritional content of vegetable and animal proteins means that perfectly adapted foods can be developed. * 100% Vegetable protein - The exclusive diet limits the risks of food intolerance which can be expressed by both digestive & skin signs (diarrhoea..., itching...). Many are against using starches & fibres, however starch as the energy source with cereal fibres ensure good digestive transit. I can say that Dante has had runny poos pretty much the entire time we have had him and since switching over his poos are finially normal. I'm personaly a BARF fan and never before would have considered only limiting a dogs diet to a Veggie base (I guess a lack of education on my behalf....never needed to investigate the options before), however with a Great Dane puppy I can't provide a 100% BARF diet yet as the protein levels are too high and with his skin issues we decided after trying a number of other brands to give this one a go. So we're 4 days in and will let you know how we go.
  4. He's not trying to defy you, dogs don't do that. Perhaps take him to the Vets for a check up, he could possibly have a urinary tract infection. If he's healthy then go back to toilet training, taking him out every hour and that should get him back on track.
  5. Anti-Bloat? I'd say it would be good at slowing those fast eaters down but an anti-bloat bowl isn't what it is.
  6. No, I have choice, I can just see and hear the TV from the Balcony Noted LOL yeah he can be a bit slow on the uptake sometimes.
  7. Thanks for your reply I think it's the crazy spotted gene eh LOL Dante has been a handful since day one LOL But I tell ya what, it's a never ending learning curve. I know we'll get there and it's us that needs to learn not him so to speak. I think after sorting him out we can take on the world LOL The strangest thing is that he is absolutely fine in the ring, well behaved, he gets the 'can't be arsed' sometimes when gaiting but apart from that one of the most well behaved Dane youngsters in the ring.
  8. Thanks Erny. We're seeing Steve next month....booked in when he hit sexual maturity (Dante not Steve) when this all started, but ya know Steve....always booked out for months! I may be a little bit dense as I don't understand the written instructions for TOT, there are a few bits that I will need shown to me so hopefully Steve can run me through this. I don't believe he (Dante) would rise to the challenge but hey you never know. We have tried repremanding before without success, it's going to have to be a pretty decent repremand for him to listen and back down if you know what I mean. Ok, for now, we'll exit the room on behaviours we're not happy with mmmm wonder if I'll spend all night outside lol Does it matter if I just go on the balcony where he can see me or should it before a bedroom door where he can't see me?
  9. If his goal is to get your attention and interact with him, even if only to put him outside, then perhaps this is feeding his behaviour? mmmm hadn't thought of it that way, come to think about it, he doesn't really care so much about being outside,he just goes and lays on his bed or chases moths. Is there another method you would suggest? We were putting him in his crate, however the largest size crate available now seems too small in length *arg*
  10. Extinction burst is happening there. Very important that the increased behaviour does not achieve your boy's behaviour (your dog's behaviour that is .... not your OH's). I'd say your dog is still exploring and testing boundaries and heirarchy status .... working out in HIS opinion, where he 'fits' in. So instead of ignoring the pawing, he should have been put out at that stage?
  11. Extinction burst is happening there. I'd say your dog is still exploring and testing boundaries and heirarchy status .... working out where he 'fits' in. He's been doing that for a long time now. How we are handling it is simply putting him outside to calm down, if you arc up at him at all he gets worse.
  12. Our 11 month old Dane has always been a handful, he's an interesting one to learn from that's for sure. When he's frustrated i.e. during a training session because he doesn't understand or perhaps just wants the treat or when he doesn't get what he wants he will jump at us, sometimes followed by a hump and sometimes soft mouthing. We're getting there....it seems like its' taking sometime, the behaviour in itself arrose at sexual maturity some 3 months ago. So, this evening, I did a 5 minute clicker session with him, he did really well. He jumped at me once but complied when I asked for a command, usually he would just keep jumping and being rude. As soon as the session finished he went over to my OH who was sitting at his computer and started pawing him, OH ignored him, Dante harsseses more and then starts to jump and mouth. Any ideas what that is about? Dante wouldn't normally just approach my OH and start harssessing him without the frustration factor as mentioned above. Some background info. We follow NILIF and are pretty firm with him as he is a very pushy bugger. Physical repremands serve no purpose to him - simply doesn't care, anything less than calm and he feeds off it. Prior to the clicker session he'd had an hour walk, wasn't totally buggered but enough to come back and relax.
  13. LOL that's a funny Sable....you're not playing with my friend!

    Too Excited?

Submission & Excitment Urination are 2 different things, I don't think the puppy is being submissive to the Cat?

    Too Excited?

You'll probably find its' excitment urination which they grow out of. I haven't heard them doing it to a cat before, usually humans. I don't think he'd be marking quite yet, once they start to lift their leg (if not desexed) is generally the time marking occurs. Dante started leg lifting and marking outside at approx 7 months of age, different breeds mature at different rates.
  16. Being a Giant Breed, they don't finish maturing until approx 3 years of age, so we may have to wait a while LOL
  17. Yeah it's the maturity of the dog I'm interested in, I would gather that the dog should be full a matured before the implant is given if the dog is a show dog and needs to conform to standard.
  18. I'm going for Ring Worm too. Ringworm lasts for approx 8 weeks and will run its' own cycle. The dog should not be exposed to other dog during this time. It's a fungi that is found in soil so any dog can be affected with it. If it is Ringworm the Owner may get it from direct contact with the sores. Hopefully they'll head to the Vets to get it confirmed under a black light. I don't think Fleas would cause an issue on the head with the sores, although the recent humidity has brought on a huge mass of fleas and owners in some areas are having to provide flea treatment every 2 weeks rather than monthly.
  19. Hi Guys, Apologies for bumping an old thread but was wondering if it were possible to get some updates on those who had the implant. I'm after information also on what is the suitable age for a dog to be given the implant.
  20. We're in the Black Gazebo, I normally see you with the Dobermann gang so I'll keep an eye out for you as I've left my phone charger at work ARG!
  21. It can be hard for outside dogs because 'generally' they're not getting as much interaction from their human family or giving more an opportunity to learn how to interact around people. I know there are some people who have outside dogs with no problems at all. Would you be ok to have your dog in the house once she was trained to behave? You can tether your dog inside to something solid or put a hook in the wall....under supervision of course that way you have more opportunity of working with the dog and your daughter is safe from being knocked over. We're currently struggling with Dante, he has some behaviours that we have been battling since we brought him home and some that developed at sexual maturity. Each dog is different, there are easy dogs out there, middle of the road dogs and challenging dogs. It's a great learning opportunity if you have a challenging dog. Once you start to learn how to communicate with your dog you'll start to see that they're not that annoying after all hehehe The mouthing can be difficult if it wasn't sorted out by 4 months of age but you can still do it, we get the occassional mouthing from Dante, eac dog is an individual and an individual approach is needed, sometimes a you can just growl at a puppy or flick it's muzzle and it will never mouth again....others well....they can be the spawn of satan and need more heavy correction but that is best discussed with a trainer as you don't want to dis-hearten the dog as well.
  22. Yeah, that would be great, maybe not a play just a calm walk by and meet would be cool for now We're showing this Sunday.
  23. Is she an outside dog that is getting over excited when you go out there? I would be inclined to try clicker training and then once she understands the clicker, tether her and bait (have her fav toy or treat) her into a jump/mouthing and then step away and turn your back to her for a minute and then repeat and using the clicker to show her when she is doing the right thing i.e. all four feet on the ground and not mouthing you. If you're having troubles with the leadership side of things a Behaviourist would be a great way of helping you understand how to interact with her Good Luck, don't be dis-heartened, you will get there.
