Are Chicken Wings Okay For My Bulldog Puppy?
Salukifan replied to samanthony23's topic in Puppy Chat
I don't. Mucking about with a dog's meal and messing up the timing of take and reward can make them anxious about food and hey presto you get yourself a resource guarder if your dog is wired for that. Meal times are for eating, not training IMO. Give him his food, let him eat it quietly and calmly and train "give' at other times. I suggest you start with a toy. Why can't Bulldogs eat bones like other dogs? Many pigs ears are imported from questionable sources and some can have very high bacterial loads. Choose an Australia source for these. Treats like tendons, beef whizzers etc can be good time wasters for a dog. Again Australian sources are recommended. -
Rules didn't kill the giraffe. People did. Rules simply provided them with an excuse to sidestep responsibility. Plays out the world over...

Style and colour is a very personal choice.

I suppose the reason some of us choose to dress up is because we take showing seriously and our appearance matters to us. I'd no more wear "casual" clothes than I'd not wash my dog or dremel his nails before a show. It's about standards of presentation to me. What others choose to do is up to them. If that makes me an object of derision or mirth, so be it. I'm proud of my dog and I dress myself and present him in a manner to reflect that pride. I make an effort.

You definitely see sportswear at the GSD specialties - those exhibitors are doing a lot of running. I guess its because suits are dressier. At some O/S shows, you see exhibitors in evening wear!

These will not safely contain a larger pup. My Whippet pup got over one in five minutes. Laundry's are full of chemicals if pups get a cupboard open and I do know of a pup that got onto a washing machine and then got its leg caught getting off. Not a safe long term place to leave a pup IMO.
-
Snake proof a run. You can't expect a pup to cope with being locked in a laundry for hours, especially as it grows.

Stops my young Whippet from harassing the other dogs at meal and treat time - he rushes to the crate and stays there. The door is closed at meal times but he chooses to take his treats there to eat. He also tends to take his "treasures" there which makes missing objects easier to find.

What Can Cause A Whole Litter To Be Born Dead?
Salukifan replied to GABBA's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Uterine inertia, infection, a genetic issue, heat, stress... lots of options. What a tragedy for your friend. I hope at least that the necropsy brings answers. -
I wouldn't describe any young Whippet as "low energy" Bulldog or French Bulldog would get my vote.
-
Actually, it won't. Two pups can do twice the damage of one and few trainers would ever recommend getting two pups at once.

Here is the article :)

What a tragedy. There is a pic of one of the dogs in one of the news articles. Heavily cropped ears. Didn't look anything like a BM to me

The smile replaced the tears! I was a tad overwhelmed at the class win initially! Dodger usually looks like that - he thinks he's a rock star.

Thank you! :)

Grilled steak.

Thanks. :) I still think I'm successfully avoiding the "mother of the bride" look but it seems I have my critics. And I'm not showing any inappropriate flesh IMO. I like skirt suits because I can get into and out of them in my gazebo. When the toilets are awash in mud or worse, that's damn useful.

They will go to less knowledgeable buyers who will still line the breeder's pockets. And if they develop serious health issues, they will break their owners' hearts. A responsible GR breeder tests hips, elbows, eyes and heart. If this breeder hasn't done those tests RUN A MILE!!!!!

Thank you. :)

Danny's Darling: Au contraire. It seems I look laughable. Indeed, hysterically so. I chose that suit particularly and carefully for the National. I thought I looked smart and that it complemented my dog. I got a lot of nice comments from people who were there. But apparently I look like a joke. Who knew? I'm still happy with that photo. :) To date that's the best day I've ever had in the show ring and no one laughing at how I looked will change how good I felt at that moment.

God knows what you think of the horse exhibitors in long boots, tie or stocks, black jackets and velvet hats. No one is forced to "dress up" but some choose to dress to a higher standard to show respect for the judge and to showcase their dogs. To each their own. I'm certainly one of the suit brigade. If people think I look stupid or ridiculous, I'll still sleep at night. I also have quite a few suits and I enjoy dressing up for shows.

Glad I'm not the only one with a farter

Take her out and about with a good "stable pony" and let her watch and absorb :) If she is food focussed, giving people treats for her isn't a bad idea. :)
