  1. Having a similar problem so interested in any responses too...
  2. MADCAT - Dora is beautiful I can empathise with the panic attack... when we finally got Rogue home we kinda of looked at each other and went oh s#^t what do we do now and then things weren't going to plan... she couldn't care less about her kongs, kibble, hated her pen... then I just gave up and tried to find a happy medium. Things are going ok now, sometimes we have wins and sometimes we don't, just trying to find what works best for us and hoping we're doing right. Here are some new pics taken today. She's "a little puddin" as the vet says
  3. Picked up our little Rogue today Its been a wonderful day of learning, of putting plans into action and then throwing them out the window  Just going with the flow now... hope to post pics soon
  4. Welcome and Congrats Lando's mum Only 1 more sleep for me
  5. Thanks Sandra and Staffyluv, thats a big help Oh dear Sandra that's quite a list of accomplishments for one little girl to achieve in only 5 years I'm sorry to hear of all your boy went through Staffyluv but it sounds like he was loved very much Yeah I thought they might be accident prone more than anything  I checked on allergies back in my first talks with the breeder after reading about it here and there was no history of chronic allergies dam, sire, grandparents. There hadn't been any history of any skin allergies in her line (dam, grandparents) until earlier this year when they all got a mild tummy rash which she thought was from all the damp grass around at the time but that cleared up easily and hasn't reoccurred. So thinking thats ok. Thanks again... 1 more sleep
  6. Hi all I can't seem to find the answer to this elsewhere but I was interested in finding out about the average health of SBTs excluding the diseases/conditions that can be tested genetically. Are they pretty robust or do you find you spend alot of money/time at the vets? Are they a breed where you've found you've ended up in emergency frequently? I don't know if chronic diseases like diabetes are more common in certain breeds? I realise this may be a bit difficult to answer generally so looking more at your experiences with the breed. Asking because we pick up our girl Fri and I'm still undecided about if we should purchase pet insurance... Thanks
  7. Aww I saw you have a new avatar sjp How adorable! Is that your girl or boy?
  8. 8 more sleeps for me Rearranged the pen set up for the third time tonight! Hubby is seriously questioning my sanity Good Luck dekadent, hope it works out for you
  9. MADCAT - Dora is gorgeous! She looks so cuddly Hilton's - Hi and Congrats on your new pup I have to admit I wasn't sure what a Lagotto looked like so looked them up and OMG they are gorgeous!!!! Please post pics when you can Thanks becks, glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks some things he suggests are a little extreme I got to visit Rogue's litter last week so here are some new pics of my little Rascal  It was so much fun playing with all the pups, I could have stayed there all day being chewed on She's definitely a character! Only 10 more sleeps and she'll be chewing on the rest of my shoes Can't wait :D
  10. Congrats! So exciting for you :D We're picking up our pup on the 20th so we'll be going through the puppy phase together krystal&coco We can trade photos of destruction
  11. Thanks sjp, I think I'll relax once we pick her up and she comes home :) Very sensible advice Esky, thank you. I know what you mean about every book telling you something different, I'll just have to trust myself as sjp said and go from there :) we think so too, thank you :)
  12. That's great news! Do you have a preference for girl or boy? No we don't have long to go, only 2.5 weeks! We pick her up 20th July Is it normal to be a little nervous now? I've been reading Ian Dunbar's books and I'm getting scared I'll bugger up a perfectly good puppy! This'll be the first puppy we've raised and while the info he gives is great, he makes everything seem so critically important and missing something will result in an unruly and uncontrollable pet Sorry, overreacting but just want to make sure we try to do things right :) Anyway here are some new pics of Rogue at 5 & 6 weeks. The latest ones I'm getting from the breeder all have captions along the lines of "Rogue eating my..." etc  Oh the joys of a Stafford pup teething I guess They get big so quick!
  13. How exciting! Not much more of a wait for you then, though it must feel like forever. Don't know how you can be so patient. its all good news from the scan! He sounds adorable, especially since its not my shoes going missing  Oh the fun times ahead! Thanks CW EW! We have to agree, but we're bias :D
  14. Thanks sjp118 & mumof4girls :) Puppies are so cute! sjp118 what breed are you waiting for? mumof4girls has your boy started to live up to his name? I expect ours will but I'm hoping we haven't jinxed ourselves
  15. Hi all I'm new to this thread but figured this is the best place to be when you're super crazy excited to be getting a puppy and everyone around you is sick of hearing about it  We're getting a female stafford pup who will be ready to come home end of July. Today was extra exciting as we just found out that this gorgeous girl will be our baby. YEAH! This is Rogue, 4 weeks.
  16. Wow ok... thank you so much for your quick responses. I guess I was hoping it wouldn't come to that but I understand where you're all coming from. We definitely don't want to encourage any aggressiveness so it makes sense to try to only expose it to good role models.
  17. Hi all We plan on getting a staffy pup soon but wanted some advice regarding introducing it to my parents dog. They have a poorly socialised 6yo female chihuahua, Attila, who is very friendly to us but to any other dogs (and humans for that matter) she is very aggressive and my husband is concerned she may traumatise our pup. As we often mind her she is used to our home and probably thinks of it as her domain too. My parents are due to go away again for a few weeks in July, so we thought waiting until after that before getting a puppy would be a good idea, but there will be times in the future we're asked to mind her so would really appreciate any advice you can offer as to the best way to help them get along. Thanks in advance
