Staffy Puppy Chasing ( Trying To Kill! Cat) Problems
Teebs replied to RobbieRules's topic in Puppy Chat
Ditto. I would not be seeing someone about this yet, it is a problem that can be worked out on your own. Just make sure the cat is inside at all times, so the dog can not get to it. When inside, leash the dog, or move the cat into a spare room. Maybe set a babygate up against one room, and put the cats stuff in there, the cat will get used to the dog and slowly come out.And the dog can not get to the cat -
So no one actually bangs the puppy till it goes POP?

I let mine hump. Kaos doesnt do any damage to Atlas, and he tells her off when sick of it, If At does it to her i keep an eye on him, as he is so much bigger then her, dont want her to get hurt

Keep the cat inside at ALL times, when the dog is inside, put the cat in another room and shut the door, unless dog is on lead. You wont get any fights, and they might learn to live together -
RIP little one I am so sorry Shoey

This is what Kaos is like most of the time with At (including the stealing the leg thing!) but the second he gives her a growl she backs off. Idiot dogs

Thats the thing though, Ed just lets her do it, with no reaction whatsoever, sometimes he will walk off with her still trying to hold onto him, and he never reacts to it, it's very weird! Only very very occasionally if she sits there niggling and niggling at him (chewing on his legs, etc, which she will often do with no reaction from him, he just lies there) for ages he will do a warning growl, and she backs off for a sec, but we've normally distracted her by then anyway It's good to see others alternate with theirs, I had always thought that there must be "meant to be" a top dog, but good to see this is the case, as I didn't want to get it wrong and treat one as top and cause issues She is so my dog. KAos will hump Atlas from time to time, she steals his leg and tries to run of with it, he just takes it, waits for her to finish and walks off, sometimes he will growl, and she backs off right away! I tend to think At is the top dog, kaos is scared of him, he gives her the look, and she bolts away, yet she plays, and annoys him ALL day, and he just takes it? She wont go near him when he is eating. When we are out he takes anything as it comes to him, she will try to eat any dog that walks past. I really dont know who my top dog is? At gets fed first, because he will push her out of the way if i feed her, but other then that, i do everything else by whatever dog is closest to me at the time!

At is almost 4 years old and never plays. once in a while he will, if Kaos bugs him enough, but not often Kaos will often (everynight!) pull ALL her toys out of the toy box and play on her own, but i cant play fetch with either of them!

I could only wish, my girl LOVES water i dont do it now, but when i first got her (And At) i always had treats on me, ALWAYS, easiest way to get them to do what they are told, just remember, IGNORE what you dont want them to do, when they do the right thing PRAISE them ASAP!!

i had a GREAT teacher at dog school, she just stood there, ignoring kaos jumping on her, told me to do NOTHING, she stood, Kaos jumped, i didnt think she would EVER stop jumping. the second her 4 paws were on the ground, Kate leaned over and treated her. Then went back to ignoring her till 4 paws were o nthe ground. Kaos LOVES kate, rushes over to her now, you can see her whole body wiggleing with excitment, but her paws will NOT leave the ground because she knows she will get ignored!

My dogs have grabbed the cats, but they NEVER hurt them, and the cats usually start it I still say that you need to make sure they are not together when someone isnt home with them. Might be an idea to split the other dogs and the staffys as well, they are FULL ON dogs, they can, and do make the best dogs, but do require a lot of training (but they are a dog that loves to please their owner, so training is not hard!) Maybe put the dog onlead when inside, i did that, and do that with my dogs when i get visitors, praise when not paying attention to the cat. -
I have the jumping problem, not with me, but with visitors, they think it is fun to rev the dogs up, then complain when kaos keeps jumping on them idiots!

Ditto, i have 2 dogs (Staffy and a Bull Terrier) and 2 cats. the only time they are together, is when i am here. Otherwise the dogs are outside. if the cats are outside cats, might be time to build a cat run to keep them in. If dogs are inside dogs when you are not home, might be time to either build a dog run, or lock them in one room, away for the cats you might be able to train them to like each other, but better to get them apart NOW, then worry about that later -
Thank you!

I don't think diabetes can be effectively managed without veterinary monitoring. If they won't change vets, is there any chance of feeding information to the vet? I don't want to dramatise the situation, but I suspect this dog's life is in danger. Thank you, but if you do go and read above, i DID say that they will not do anything without the vets ok. That means they will take this info to their vets, and talk to them before starting any of it.
