  1. Hai!! Ezio has grown a lot, I need to get some better photos of him, he has grown so much.
  2. Not sure how legit this site is, but they claim they are reputable? http://www.aussiebulldogclub.com they have a for sale page? Maybe someone can clarify if this club is responsible?
  3. Wonderful and beautiful photos everyone! I love seeing them all grow up :) Thought I would give update on food aggression issue. I didn'tend up calling aanyone, instead I just stuck with a strict program and I am happy to say his resource guarding behavior has subsided. I am able to handle him and even get him to drop the food with no problems, he is still I tiny bit stiff but he now will walk away from his chicken frame and calmly take food from my hand when I approach, his behavioural response when I approach is now with interest and anticipation and he will walk towards me instead of freezing and hovering over the bone/chicken frame. I still have a way to go and this may be a lifelong thing but I am happy with the quick progress he has made. Another upside, I taught ezio to weave through my legs in 2 training sessions :D so happy!!

    Treats

Sorry to hijack, but I hear ppl say make treats small, but how small is too small? I have a corgi and I am clueless how small I should have them. I am worried if they are too small he won't v even know he got a treat in his mouth?
  5. I started with the crate in my room and when our puppy could sleep the night with no toilet breaks his crate was moved into the laundry, he is still locked in crate at night. When we aren't home we leave the crate open in the laundry, there is a doggy door in the laundry that gives him free access to the yard which is secure. Thankfully he toilets outside and has never soiled his crate or laundry. My concern would be your puppy learning to toilet indoors and does not learn the difference between outside and inside.
  6. After reading numerous publications and reports by Ronald D Schultz who is the professor and chair of pathobiological sciences at School of Veterinary Medicine advising that annual vaccines are unnecessary and his push towards the veterinary board to stop annual vaccinations in 1992 I decided I will not be vaccinating annually after the first 12 month vaccine. Instead I will be doing annual titre tests and if there is a drop in the tests only then will I vaccinate. The AVA only recently changed vaccination requirements to every 3 years in 2009 but there has been no pressure for individual practices to comply, so many still pressure annual vaccines.
  7. we had a serious behaviour pop up, bf accidentally/unknowingly caused food aggression/resource guarding, he was poking Ezio's chicken frame to get him to eat it (I wasn't outside at the time but I heard the first warning bark), what he didn't realise was he was making him upset and nervous because he thought he was taking his bone and teasing him. Ezio suddenly changed and became super aggressive when you approached, he would growl and run off with the bone, was snapping and even when given treats his entire behaviour was urgent, stiff and aggressive when taking the food and he would snap back over the frame and hover over it very stiffly. That was 2 days ago, I have reverted back to the triangle of temptation with him waiting on lead, and I kept him chained on a seperate chain to prevent him running off to trigger the resource guarding behaviour as it seems to start when he runs off, then just treated him every time I approached with a higher value food (he finds his barf dinner a higher value than bones), day 2 and he is completely relaxed, no guarding behaviour, instead he would stop eating the bone and run over to see what I had and would ignore his bone for the food in my hand. Will just have to keep repeating to make sure we don't have a relapse. I haven't given him another chicken frame yet, just regular meaty bone tonight, but I will wait until I am comfortable with his behaviour before giving another chicken frame and working on that.
  8. aliwake - that is horrible I hope it doesn't affect your pup long term! steph - jealous! Looks like it was a tonne of fun lisa- great work on the weaves! It is great when the dog shows enjoyment of a task luvsdogs - nice work! We just got back from our first day working together at the obedience club, he did awesome and I was able to distract him away from other dogs even when he was sniffing them. I am super happy with the results, I was expecting far less from him but he gave me more than I could have hoped, his attention even with dogs of all ages and barking levels was awesome.
  9. Random question, is playing tug bad when the puppy is teething? Ezio is losing some teeth now and is chewing a lot more, I am wondering if tug is too painful during this time as he is less happy about playing tug at the moment?
  10. Success, I decided to introduce some more tricks for Ezio to learn as I didn't want to bore him with just sit, drop and touch. It took only 3 sessions to train paw (run to a flat item and put his paw on it) and shake. Shake is a little confusing, as I was reinforcing any form of him putting his foot on my hand, he got the impression he should lie down to shake, so now I am shaping a sit/shake. We have also begun on grab it (grabs and holds whatever I ask) and stand is still a bit of a tough one for him, I assumed stand would be harder to grasp so I am trying to take it slowly. Ezio is an absolute gem on lead, I only have a few moments where he will go ahead, but he will easily return when I encourage him and have no issues. He quickly learned when I say "stop!" it means stop and sit, like an emergency cue and he is doing well with sits/downs on walks. People and dogs are still a distraction but we are working on it and he ignores barking dogs behind a fence. I am pretty happy with how his training is tracking and I am amazed at how easy going he is. I attended the first day of obedience today, it was an orientation only so no dogs on first day, next week we begin our journey to obedience and that should be interesting. I learned there is a few dogs over a year old in his class so this will be new for him and no doubt a complete restart on his training with distractions. I look forward to it :) no photos but here is a video of Ezio with the zoomies playing with one of our cats
  11. After politely asking the person to wait until my puppy was sitting before patting and to move away if he broke it - "Oh I know I shouldn't let you do this but it won't hurt" and proceeds to do everything opposite to what I asked and lets him start jumping all over her It won't hurt her, but it sure hurts our training and just makes it harder for me in the long run
  12. Ezio knows it is there, and now and then it looks like he is sitting and watching it but he bores easy and I think most of his staring at the screen is because he is reacting to the noise and not the images. I could be wrong, but to me his interest seems to peak when he finds a sound worth listening to, then he will go back to whatever he is doing.
  13. unfortunately it appears Elsa passed away posted 19 jan on the sanctuary facebook page To our very dear friends and extended family.... there is no easy way to say the words or ease the blow to the thousands of hearts that have fallen in love with our sweet snow Princess. Elsa passed away today at 4:30 p.m. mountain time wrapped in Ginger's arms, surrounded by the people that have worked so tirelessly for her and watched over dutifully by her guardian, Dingo. We are stunned by the sudden and rapid turn of events. You will never know how your support and encouragement have helped us stay strong. She received every single hug and kiss you sent her and Ginger read all of your loving notes to her. We could theorize that if she had been older or if we had gotten to her sooner that there might have been a different outcome... what we do know is that Elsa has brought so many of us together for a common good. Her story highlights the need for changes in existing laws and is a mission we hope to carry forward in the future. We have many notes of thanks to make and I promise we will get to every single one. For now... for this moment... it is time to grieve the life simply stolen. Tonight when you look up at the stars you may see one that outshines all others. That is our Elsa. She is sending you love and thanks and is running free, whole and in peace. Thank you for loving her with us and making her last days on earth as beautiful as she deserved. ---------- So sad that she didn't make it
  14. Nice Lisa :D I would be super stoked to get that amount of attention in a distracting environment!
  15. So of all toys Ezio gets excited for, it is a cat toy with feathers on the end of the string. When that comes out, he is over the moon and will work as hard as possible for it. I am not quite sure how to incorporate it into regular training, it isn't something I can take with me everywhere as a reward, I am yet to find anything else he sees as such a high value as it. Food has nothing against the feather cat toy when it comes to value. Any suggestions?
  16. congrats to the 16 weekers :D Mila looks absolutely adorable in the bed!
  17. I have Ezio Booked in for his last puppy vacc this week, and afterwards we are taking a trip to the groomers to get him groomed up and receive a bit of socialisation there :) He finishes puppy preschool this Saturday but he will still be going to the puppy playgroups to play with his brother and socialise with the other puppies. I have booked him into an obedience club to start working towards obedience (the current school doesn't do obedience), maybe we could even get to a competitive level, but I will see how it goes and see if we enjoy it enough to first. I have no clue about obedience or rally, but I think it would be a great opportunity to get a stronger bond with Ezio and improve his focus.
  18. esky he is very handsome even with the crazy ears :) Puppy playgroup is back, Ezio got to catch up with his brother. Here it looks like Oakey is telling Ezio a funny joke at the water bowl.
  19. The Crocodile made me do it! He is great with his fluffy toys, but if it rips open, then he can't help but tear the guts out. Only when it rips does he do this! - Gorgeous photos yonjuro and dotdashdot. I have a nikon d5200 but I am still trying to figure it out, I am not camera savvy so playing about with it, at the moment I am having issues finding the right shutter speed and iso to take shots of Ezio. I was fooling about with 1/20 shutter with 300 dpi but the shots were still coming out blurry everytime he moved. Would love any tips :)
  20. Laci looks lovely! Willow sounds like a huge character :) Good to hear she is enjoying herself. Omg Ezio somehow got into the bathroom and grabbed a pair of my undies, the cheeky mongrel thought it would be great to prance around the house with them! Thankfully we have taught "give" so retrieving them was easy, but not before he tried to run off with said undies first, I wouldn't play his chasey games so it ended quickly.
